Praying like Jesus

I lead a small prayer group from our church. Each week we focus on different aspects of prayer. This week we searched scripture to discover what Jesus had to say about prayer.

Since He was in complete agreement with God's will, Jesus knew exactly what to pray and He left us some examples of perfect prayers.

As born-again believers, we have God's Holy Spirit to guide us and we need to invite His Spirit to lead us in our prayers.

Joyful, joyful we adore Thee

Joy is such a small little word, but it is an amazing word - the dictionary describes it this way: It is an emotion evoked by well-being, success or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires; a state of happiness or felicity. Other words to describe joy include delight, gaiety, bliss - the word joy is derived from the Latin word gaudia which is akin to the Greek word to rejoice.

As we prepare to celebrate Easter and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, our hearts are turned toward a hill on calvary where He laid down His life for the sins of the world.

Jesus came into the world as a man for one specific purpose. He came to bridge the gap between sinful man and a righteous, holy God. Without Him and His precious blood we would…

Spiritual Warfare

You Have The Power

There is a spiritual battle taking place in the heavenly realms today that defies description. If we had the spiritual eyes to see the battle, we would be overcome with terror. Spend 5 Minutes in Thanksgiving

A number of years ago, the leadership of our church held a retreat in January. Each year we do this to get our focus on what we are doing as a body of believers. It gives us a chance to examine our motives and be reminded of what we are about as disciples of Christ. In January 2005, our retreat focused on getting to know God through prayer. At the beginning of the retreat, the leader, Reverend Aaron Brown, asked each…

As I looked at our Christmas tree one year, God spoke to my heart and showed me an image of Christ as the source of all light and disciples of Christ as the fibers shining the light of Christ into the world. What a simple way to explain a complex and detailed…

The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing, but isn’t that impossible to do? Surely God didn’t mean for us to be in prayer constantly. That is just asking too…

NDOP in your area

Hi, I just joined this group. I'm one of the coordinators for the NDOP in Brown County Ohio and wanted to know what some of you do to get more church participation in your area. It seems that churches should show a united front in this effort and yet many of them opt to do their own thing within their church walls instead of making a public showing.

Send workers into the harvest field

One of the reasons why I believe it is so important to pray around the world for all the lost people and the leaders of each nation is because Jesus told us to.When he saw the lost people he told his disciples to ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers into the harvest field because the harvest was plentiful and the workers are few.  Maybe I can't personally go into these nations and share the gospel message, but God can and I know that he will if we ask Him to. One of my favorite…
