For Muslims in the region most of the very basics of Christianity are a struggle to accept and contrary to their view of God. To think of God as Father is really difficult. The concept of the Trinity is a big obstacle as well. It is believed God does not share his deity with another, so it is hard for them to accept Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Another difficulty is the sacrifice Christ made on the cross. It is believed that if Christ was God, then he would never have had to die on a cross set apart for criminals. Additionally, it is thought that no man can die for the sins of another, each must make restitution for their own wrongs. The people in this regions struggle with some of the most basic truths that come from God's Word.

Pray for the truth about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to be revealed across the region this year. Pray that many in this region would come to understand what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Pray for the Holy Spirit to be released over the hearts and lives of people in this region. Pray for a revelation of God's personal touch in this area of the world.

As I look ahead into 2019, it looks like our national and global situation is in turmoilOur world is in a moral and spiritual decline, we are in a battle for the minds and hearts of our dear grandchildren. The enemy is trying to steal their hearts and the plans God has for them. In addition to trying to destroy their faith, the enemy is trying to destroy the morals of our country, especially the family unit. It is urgent that we stand in the gap to pray for the spiritual, emotional, and physical protection of our 9651038083?profile=originalgrandchildren and their parents so they do not become victims of our culture.

For that reason, the mission of Christian Grandparenting Network is to challenge grandparents around the world to intentionally and regularly come together to pray, interceding for their grandchildren, children, and communities.

Therefore, we have organized “Grandparents@Prayer” (G@P) intercessory prayer groups. Our goal is to encourage grandparents to be prayer warriors through the personal discipline of intercessory prayer in the battle against the enemy. We encourage grandparents to meet together in small or large groups on a regular basis to unite in prayer at a designated location for 1 hour or so of guided prayer and fellowship.

Many grandparents have indicated that they appreciate the G@P prayer times because it is a safe place to share their heavy hearts for their grandchildren.

In Isaiah 58:6 we read that we can “loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke” in our world. One of the ways we can break these chains is by “standing in the gap” for our dear grandchildren.  Just as Esther stood in the gap for her people, the Jews when they were physically threatened. Today grandparents can stand in the gap with prayer for their grandchildren as the enemy threatens their spiritual lives.

I have found uniting in prayer with other grandparents for my grandchildren is a special blessing for me. It’s a safe place to share my concerns for my grandchildren and their parents and to know the others are praying for me. We now have a number of G@P intercessory groups meeting in various places throughout the world, in retirement Centers, schools, churches, and homes. Some of the groups meet weekly, some twice a month or once a month, whatever the group desires.

I want to challenge you to ask God whom He would have you pray with you for each other’s grandchildren. Ask your friends, church senior group, neighbors, family members, or whomever.

Prayer: Lord will you set a fire in my heart to pass the baton of truth and pray intentionally for the next generation. In the name of Jesus, Amen

If you are interested, please go to https://christiangrandparenting.net/grandparents-at-prayer/

to learn more about the G@P intercessory prayer groups.

The first step is to complete the form and we will help you start a group.

John 15:4a

If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

TURNING THE ABOVE DAY’S VERSES INTO A PRAYER

Thank You Lord for making salvation so simple a choice. You tell us that when we pray Your will, You give us our request, and we know that You are not willing that any should perish (1 Timothy 2:4) and so You answer our prayer when we ask in faith, trusting You to be our Savior, thru the shed blood of Christ, on the cross…

NOTE: Another way to have prayed these passages would have been to pray about all that we have in Christ, by faith, as we abide in Him, and He in us.

Above, we have taken a Precept and Promise and Prayer and re-written them as a prayer back to the Lord. Try it yourself.

Guest blog written by Cathy Jacobs

Joni Eareckson Tada tells the story of a visit she once had to Russia.  9651037895?profile=originalWhile there, she befriended an old woman who cleaned the hotel lobby floors. Through an interpreter, Joni became friends with the elderly lady by praising her on her excellent care of the floor.  This lady was aged, wrinkled but had rosy cheeks framed with a tightly knotted, colorful scarf.  Standing in the hotel lobby with her broom in hand, she seemed out of place.  Joni felt perhaps that was what attracted her to the woman.

While in Russia, Joni actually met many Russian “babushkas” like her.  People call these women “the praying grandmothers”.  They were the rock-solid saints that Stalin aimed to eliminate.  He realized that if he could get rid of these “old women”, he had an opportunity to get the Russian youth into his hands

Praise God, Stalin failed! And thank the Lord for these praying grandmothers. They connected a generation lost to atheism to a new generation of people who today are asking questions about Jesus.

A vital part of being a Godly grandparent is prayer.  Just as these babushkas provided a spiritual wall of protection over their young, a praying grandparent can do the same today. Can you imagine what it was like for these women in the 1930’s and 40’s?  They witnessed Stalin’s army marching into the center of their small villages. The soldiers would come directly into their homes where they would capture the Russian sons and grandsons. Then the soldiers physically carried off to war the men and boys. The babushkas watched their loved ones be forced out of town knowing that probably they would never see their loved ones again.

What kind of prayers do you think these women uttered as they fell to their knees on behalf of their sons and grandsons?  Was it a quick, fleeting prayer?  Or was it a deep, daily time of crying out desperately to the Lord?

There is no doubt that the days of Stalin and Hitler were terrible.  But we also live in a time of fierce spiritual battle. The Bible tells us “… our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms”. (Ephesians 6:12)  Yet scripture is also clear that “the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world”. (I John 4:4) There is an urgent need today for grandparents to “stand in the gap” and pray fervently for their children and grandchildren.  The Lord has issued to us a high calling for a deep level of prayers.

Yes, we are in a spiritual battle that requires spiritual weapons.  Babushka-strong prayers are such a weapon.  This is a challenge, not for the faint-hearted, but for passionate, intentional grandparents who are willing to get on their knees daily to intercede passionately for their loved ones.

God has placed your children and grandchildren in your lives and under your care. These loved ones are maneuvering through a world that is hostile to the ways of God.  We must become their “babushka-prayer warriors”. God has given us the awesome opportunity to partner with Him on behalf of these dear ones.  This is not an accident.  Nor is it incidental.  Rather, it is intentional on His part.  So let us rise  -- or should we say, “fall”  -- to this important calling on all grandparents.

May each of us find the “babushka” within us as we storm the gates of Heaven on behalf of our children and grandchildren?

1/3/2019, Are you struggling? Do you need strength?
No! You need to trust the God WHO IS strength.
Read this day’s Devo. Do you hear the subtle difference in how we are encouraged to pray about strength?
We DO NOT pray to the God of strength to GIVE US strength. No, we are trusting His strength. We are resting in His strength.
This is a lot more difficult to do than it sounds.

1/2/2019, Father, as we begin this year I am reminded of a verse, very near the beginning of the book of Proverbs. Verse 7 of chapter 1 finds your reminder to awe You, for it is the beginning, it’s where we start. Forgive us Lord, for being more like the second half of the verse, “fools who despise wisdom and instruction.” Father, I plead with You for a revival of respecting, awing, and fearing You to return to The Body of Christ. . . And let it begin with me.

Over 258 million people live in a different country from their birth country. Another 20 million are refugees, 3 million are asylum seekers and 10 million are stateless. There are many other "people on the move" who are not counted in those statistics -- tourists, seafarers, diplomats, flight crews and so on.

Here are a few questions to help you know how to pray for diaspora people -- whether your neighbor, the person next to you on the bus, another church member or someone you see on the news.

Diaspora experience

In what ways does this person feel pushed out of his or her homeland?

In what ways does this person feel pulled by (or drawn into) his or her new location (as opposed to the homeland or another location)?

Who comes into regular contact with this person? With whom does this person wish to connect?

How long might this person be at the new location? How long might it be until the person returns “home”?

What skills, experiences and gifts might this person offer?

Faith experience

How much knowledge does this person have about the good news of Jesus? Is this person growing in this knowledge? What are some hindrances to more knowledge? What are some opportunities to know more?

What is this person’s attitude toward Christ and people who follow Christ? Is this person growing in love toward Christ? What are some hindrances to loving Christ more? What are some opportunities to grow in love?

What does this person understand to be the bad news about his or her situation? (This may include physical, emotional, social, economic and spiritual aspects.) What about God might this person then hear as good news?

Pray In The New Year – The Great Escape

Seriously? Praying in the New Year with The Great Escape?

DECEMBER 31
PRAY OR SIN

Movie . . . The Great Escape

  • Steve McQueen looks up at his colleague who has just been killed and decides to get the information outside the camp, get himself recaptured, and then give up his freedom, for the rest of his colleagues.

    • What are you willing to give up for other Christians?

    • You are on the precipice of a brand new year and I cannot think of anything better to decide, than to pray. Will you?

Read Today’s Verse

1 Samuel 12:23a (HCSB) “As for me, I vow that I will not sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you. . .

Background for Today’s Prayer:

Just like in the movie, sometimes a commitment is costly.

  • When was the last time you promised to pray for someone, but didn’t?

  • Have you ever considered praying for that person’s request even though the need is over?

  • I know it sounds odd, but remember, God is outside of time?

  • Have you ever asked God to rehear your prayers afresh?

TODAY’S PRAYER:

Lord the verse above is sobering. I rarely consider it sin when I do not pray for someone I promised to. Lord, would You create in me a desire to make prayer my foremost spiritual discipline this year. And Lord, while I am praying, let me leave a legacy of praying, to those around me. Let them see me pray with my Bible open. Thank You Lord.

HOPE WHEN YOUR HEART IS BREAKING

How do you exercise hope when you are grieving in the depth of your soul? In the 12th chapter of John Jesus showed us something about this spiritual discipline. Listen to His voice as his heart bleeds with sorrow in verses 27,28.

“Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”

In this chapter Jesus and His disciples come to the ultimate clash of good and evil. The chapter begins with Mary Magdalene anointing Jesus’ feet with the costly perfume, and of course, Judas’ objection. Then came our Lord's triumphal entry into Jerusalem with the multitudes shouting, “Hosanna!” Even some Greeks asked to see Jesus. But Jesus knew this was all leading to the ultimate sorrow of the cross. And He spoke the words, “Now is my heart troubled.” This heartache no doubt intensified as He went with His disciples to the garden to pray saying, “My heart is sorrowful even to death.”

Many of you have experienced deep sorrow in your life. If you have not, you will. While our heartaches are not as deep as our Lord's, we face sorrows that overwhelm our lives. In such times you will need a hope that is deeper than all that you are losing, a hope that goes beyond life and death. In His great sorrow Jesus gives us a glimpse of such a hope.

First He asks how He should respond. I'm not sure from the text whether He is praying or simply asking me how I think He should pray. Either way He asked if He should pray for God to save Him from the crisis. There is certainly a place for such prayers. That is how Jesus began praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. In Matthew 26:39 we read His prayer.

“My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me.”

But of course, even here He prays in submission.

“Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”

But there comes a point where God tells us that escaping the sorrow is not His will. And as difficult as it was, Jesus knew His sorrow was the purpose of God. He says, “For this purpose I have come to this hour.” We often cannot see the purpose of what we endure. Your grief may seem pointless to you. But God knows the purpose of your heartache.

Then Jesus gives us the right prayer in sorrow. “Father, glorify your name.” This is the goal for anyone who has been redeemed, for anyone whose life is being transformed, who has been brought from alienation to the embrace of God's love. If your goal is something less than that, your sorrow will only deepen.

God's hope reaches beyond the darkened corridors of death. In 2 Corinthians 1 Paul speaks of facing death.

“For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.”

The point of our lives and the heart of our prayers ought to be for God to be honored whether we succeed or fail, whether we live or die. Paul wrote his letter to the Philippians from jail, not knowing if he would be released or executed. And he encourages them with these words.

“It is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.”

As Jesus prays God's glory in John 12, something spectacular happens. A voice comes from heaven, saying, “I have glorified it and I will glorify it again!”

Some of the people standing around Him said it must have thundered. Others said an angel spoke to him. But Jesus said that was not it at all. He said, “This voice was for you.” They were the ones who needed to know God's glory and judgment were at hand. As we learn to pray for God’s glory, He speaks to our hearts, assuring us of His glory and grace. And others around us will glimpse His glory as well.

Pray In The New Year - Dec 30 - City Slickers

Pray In The New Year – City Slickers

Seriously? Praying in the New Year with City Slickers?

9651038285?profile=original

DECEMBER 30
GLORIFYING GOD

Movie . . . City Slickers

  • Jack Palance holds up his index finger to Billy Crystal and then tells him that the secret to life is “One Thing” but that you have to figure out that “One Thing” for yourself

    • But as Christians, is there one thing?

    • And if there is, do we have to figure it out?

Read Today’s Verse

1 Corinthians 10:31 (AMP) So then, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you may do, do all for the honor and glory of God.

Background for Today’s Prayer:

Unlike in the movie, Christians have a clear direction.

  • Think about this, when you pray, do you find yourself going to God, wondering what He wants you to do?

  • If so, then begin that journey with our verse

  • Begin this year with a commitment to glorify God in absolutely, positively, everything you do.

  • How do we pray about it? Like this…

TODAY’S PRAYER:

Lord, Your word is so clear, our role here on earth is to bring glory to You. Oh Lord, let that be the question we ask ourselves about every single thing we do, or think about doing, every time I answer the phone, every time I get in the car, every time I speak to my spouse, or my kids. Lord, allow me to have a keen sensitivity to be honoring to You, bringing You glory in ALL that I do. Thank You Lord.

Pray In The New Year – Blazing Saddles

Seriously? Praying in the New Year with Blazing Saddles?

9651041856?profile=original

DECEMBER 29
LOVING GOD

Movie . . . Blazing Saddles

  • Slim Pickens rides up to his other outlaw cowboys and says, “What in the wide, wide, world of sports are you doing?”

    • And that’s my question to Christians, “What in the wide, wide, world of sports are you doing?”

    • We need to focus on one thing, loving God, whatever that looks like in your life and wherever that leads us.

Read Today’s Verse

Matthew 22:37 (NASB)  And He said to him, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’

Background for Today’s Prayer:

So far this week we have:

  • Asked God to break our hearts,

  • Given up our idols, including fear.,

  • Determined to seek God, who promises to let Himself be found by us.

  • But, how do we make sure that these have not just been, what we might call academic decisions?

  • Simple answer…. “LOVE!” Our love for Him is the way He asks us to demonstrate our decisions.

TODAY’S PRAYER:

Lord, we so often give You “lip-service” but this verse arrests our heart. Father, how can we love You with all of our heart and all of our soul and all of our mind? Lord this is so difficult to understand, but we trust You to give us the grace to, in fact, love You completely. Lord show us this year, how to in fact love You with all of our heart and all of our soul and all of our mind.

Pray In The New Year – The Santa ClausE

Seriously? Praying in the New Year with Santa Clause?

9651039088?profile=original

DECEMBER 28
SEEKING GOD

Movie . . . The Santa Clause

  • Tim Allen gets into trouble because of the fine print on the Santa Clause business card.

    • In scripture there is no “fine print” because God Himself says that when we seek Him, He will let Himself be found.

    • We don’t have to “hunt” for Him and “hope” that we will find Him. We are assured that we will find Him.

Read Today’s Verse

Jeremiah 29:13 (NASB) You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart

Background for Today’s Prayer:

As we start the new year, are you committed to seeking Him?

  • Often we do not seek Him because we fear where He may lead

  • Dr. Charles F. Stanley, recalling his days at seminary, talks about friends of his who would not go to Missions Conferences because they feared God would call them to go over seas and become missionaries.

  • Do not let fear keep you from beginning this year by seeking Him…with, I might add, your whole heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER:

Lord, so many verses talk about seeking You. Forgive us Lord for not regularly seeking You. Your word promises that when we seek You we will find You, just like it says about wisdom, that if we seek wisdom, we will find it (Proverbs 8:17 and James 1:5). Lord we pray that this year will be a year where we seek You with all our heart and watch You bless us by opening Your word to us. Forgive us Lord when we let our wants and our fears get between us and seeking You.

Pray In The New Year – Indiana Jones

Seriously? Praying in the New Year with Indiana Jones?

PrayingInNewYear-IndianaJones.png?resize=300%2C140&width=300

DECEMBER 27
CHOOSING GOD

Movie . . . Indiana Jones

  • The guardian of the Holy Grail says to Indiana Jones, regarding the Nazi who chooses what he thinks is the cup of Christ and drinks from it, “He chose poorly.”

    • With all of the choices you will make in 2017 let the first one be the best choice not a poor choice.

Read Today’s Verse

Joshua 24:14-15 (NASB) “Now, therefore, fear the LORD and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Background for Today’s Prayer:

So if you are going to live for the Lord this year…

  • Do you have any gods, any idols?

  • May I suggest one that perhaps you’ve never thought of as an idol, as a god, in front of God Almighty?

  • How about worry?

  • Let me suggest that anything you worry about you’ve made an idol before God,. How?

  • By worrying about it, rather than trusting the God you’ve chosen, God Almighty

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord, we recognize that there are idols we have in our life and one of those is “worry.” Lord, this is a sin, an idol, a god, that our fathers and mothers have served, in some cases, for generations. Lord, we do not want to serve the god of worry in 2012. We choose You, by taking those thoughts captive, when they enter our minds. Lord, we do not want in our lives the idol of worry or any other idol, sex, money, self-righteousness, nothing Lord, but You. We choose You Lord.

Christmas in Arabia

During the Christmas season, many believers throughout the Arabian Peninsula host parties, gatherings, and events to share the true meaning of Christ's birth to their Muslim friends. It is also a time when many Muslims have opportunity to ask questions about Jesus if they are seeking and encounter the Christmas story on social media.

Let's pray for boldness, discernment, and wisdom as believers invite their Muslim friends to celebrate Christmas together and share the Christmas account.

Let's pray that this will be a first Christmas as sons and daughters of God for many Muslims as they discover the true meaning of the celebration of Christmas.

"But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship." Gal 4:4-5

Pray In The New Year – The Godfather

Seriously? Praying in the New Year with The Godfather?

DECEMBER 26
RENT HEARTS

Movie . . . Godfather II

  • Michael Corleone grips Fredo by the cheeks and looks into his eyes and says, “Fredo, you broke my heart.”

    • We look at a broken heart as something to stay away from, something to run from, as Fredo did.

Read Today’s Verse:

Psalm 51:17 (HCSB) The sacrifice [which is] pleasing to God is a broken spirit. God, You will not despise [or turn away] a broken and humbled heart.

Background for Today’s Prayer:

Does God hear your prayers?

  • 1 Peter 3:7 tells us that if there is anything between you and your spouse your prayers will be hindered.

  • Proverbs 28:9 tells us that sin keeps our prayers from being heard.

  • As we begin this new year, let’s get serious about sin in our lives.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord, as we come to You, thinking about this new year, Oh Lord we want You to hear our prayers. So Father, show us where our hearts need to be broken before You. Lord, we know that the sacrifice You want is a broken, a contrite, a humbled heart. Lord we know that You will NEVER turn aside a humbled heart. Thank You for that promise Father.

Pray Christmas - Day 25

9651037861?profile=original

December 25

  • Background to today’s prayer

    • So today is the last day.

    • Why have you spent the time to pray this?

    • What result do you expect?

    • Below is my prayer, my expectation, for you…enjoy.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord this is the last day of this 25 Days of Prayer. And it is fitting  to end this with a picture of Jesus life AFTER His birth. Luke 2:40 and 52 tell us that He grew in strength, wisdom, grace, stature and favor, among both You and man. Father, my prayer is that each person praying during these 25 Days of Prayer would go from these prayers, and grow in the experience of Your presence, that comes so clearly as we spend time in close communing prayer with You Lord. Thank You Lord for this 25 Days of Prayer.
