Verse of the Day: 2 Corinthians 10:3-4
For though we walk in the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but might in God for pulling down strongholds.”

Articles and News from My 18 Years as Prayer Coordinator
I have been working on a book on the warnings of Jesus concerning difficult times that are coming. However, a recent doctor appointment gave me a different perspective on my cancer. This has changed my approach to a number of things in my life including my work on this book. Although I am still not sure how quickly the drink offering of my life is being poured out to God, I believe I need to walk more wisely in relation to…

The three of them were at the end of their endurance, but they ran on through the thickening trees. They hoped the woods had discouraged their pursuers. Dhanua, who was in the lead, was Malayali and roughly familiar with this part of India. But he did not know where they were now. As they came to the darkest part of the jungle, all three fell on their faces in exhaustion. Their pursuers would eventually find them if they were still on…

Justinian, the servant of Pontius Pilate, rose in the middle of the night to accompany his master to the private baths belonging to the Ponti family. He was used to Pilate not being able to sleep. It began sometime before Tiberius recalled him in anger from the Province of Syria over the Samaritan fiasco. It did not surprise Justinian when Pilate’s sleep problems continued here in Rome, even though Tiberius had died before they reached…

“‘I AM,’ He replied, as from the burning bush.”*
Baruch looked up in displeasure as Temple guards stumbled into his inn. They had never come in this early. He hated the fact that the tough guards had run off most of his evening business. And now, here they were in the morning. No other customers were in the inn now, so he decided not to…
Statue of Jeremiah Lamphier Jin the King's Lobby on the King's College Campus in Lower Manhattan Could America at long last be on the verge of the great revival many of us have prayed for all our lives? I believe it is possible for a reason that you need to judge for yourself.Four great spiritual awakenings helped to shape American history. What I want to point out is true, to some degree, of all four awakenings, but it is most visible in the prayer revival of 1858. On March 6, 1857 the United…

Read more…LISTENING Listening is one of the most powerful tools you can employ to improve your preaching. Of course, we primarily need to listen to God. In Isaiah 55:3 God calls us to do just that. “Give ear and come to me. Hear me that your soul may live.” You can listen to God in your reading. First, read the Scriptures. Every Pastor needs a regular system of reading God's word that is separate from you sermon studies. You will have trouble encouraging your people to open their lives to Scripture, if…
Read more…Every week when I was a pastor, I did what I called walking my sermons. Although this depends on the Biblical foundations I wrote about last week, I believe it is the most valuable advice I can give preachers. The sermon is an oral event. It is what Marshall McLuhan called a hot medium of communication. I would argue that you should not write out a sermon, and then try to memorize it, trying to translate from writing, a cool medium, to the heat. After I had read my text aloud many times, some…

But you will find great power in sharing what God has to say to people in His word. THE SPIRITUAL CONNECTION AND BIBLICAL BEDROCK OF THE SERMON Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. John 14:10 In…

And I pray that God will bless your ministry through them. I have been asked to include these things here because they will…

Read more…David Young’s poems on the Gospel of John are a delight to read. This is not simply rhyme and meter, cadence and verse going on here. With a pastor’s heart and insights, David offers up theological lessons. So go ahead and dig in, enjoy, and be refreshed again from the great I am, the only begotten, the bread of life, the light of this world, the resurrection and the life, and the ultimate truth. It is a pleasure to recommend these poems to you. Michael Kuykendall Professor of New Testament…
Read more…I have begun praying for a few actors and producers. This prayer list is titled, ACTORS, PRODUCERS AND SCREEN WRITERS. But at this point the only writers I have on my short list are also producers. I pray for whom who profess to know Christ like Mark and Roma Burnett. We should have been bombarding Mel Gibson with prayer after The Passion. I also pray for a few who are obviously ungodly like Will Smith. I pray for some of the most popular and successful actors. I pray for some older actors who…

David, I'm sorry to take so long to get back to you - have been sick for a couple of weeks and not on PN. Try this link for the China prayer cast - I got it directly from YouTube.

David, apologies for taking so long to get back to you - my recent out-of-state move has pretty much dominated my time and I'm only now getting back to being on PN consistently. I appreciate what you shared and the heart of integrity behind it. You are a great example to me!
I would also say that praying for the SC justices by name and simply leaving in God's hands how he wants to work in their lives and through their rulings is a very valid way to pray. The strength of our prayers is not in the words, but in the One to whom we pray - not that you need to hear that from me!!
Hanvn't seen that one. Have to check it out.
If I find something interesting David, I'll let you know.
