How different we would be if we were to follow Jesus' plan for Biblical reconciliation.

Disciples must confront each other about their sins privately,
and never engage in or be a party to gossip and tale-bearing. This article provides a step-by-step process "If a brother sins against you."

This should be one of the first lessons taught and lived out by those…

Live Christ Deliberately

9570796294?profile=original Henry David Thoreau wrote, “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practice resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout…

Developing A Discipleship Ministry

We know that Jesus was the greatest disciple maker who has ever lived, but how did He begin?

Though Jesus had many who followed, He chose only twelve ordinary men with a mixture of backgrounds and personalities to be His disciples. Jesus’ entire ministry depended upon these men who would go on to start the Christian Church. He began His discipleship ministry in prayer:

“One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to…

Lausanne 2010 Conclusion: Make disciples. Love one another.

The following is an excerpt from the document entitled The Cape Town Commitment: A Confession of Faith and a Call To Action from the Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization conducted last fall. Some 4,000 leaders from 198 countries attended as participants and observers.   What follows is the conclusion. I would recommend the entire document and especially the section on leadership. Please feel free to comment.   Conclusion God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself. God’s…

Disciple's Declaration

Are you passionately, deliberately and radically committed to Jesus?   Disciple's Declaration   I am a part of the body committed to doing “whatever it takes.” I have Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I’ve stepped over the line. I am out of the comfort zone. The decision has been made. I’m a disciple of Jesus. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, or back away. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking,…

Are You A Spiritual Champion?

Noted Christian researcher/author George Barna writes, "By spiritual champions, I mean individuals who have embraced Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord; accept the Bible as truth and as the guide for life; and seek to live in obedience to its principles and in search of ways to continually deepen their relationship with God. Spiritual champions live in ways that are noticeably different from the norm—even when compared to the average churchgoer." Is living a transformed life more than…

How To Turn The World Right-Side-Up

The crisis at the heart of the church is that we talk about making disciples, but we seldom do it.   Making disciples is not just for pastors, ministers, or super Christians. Making disciples is the responsibility, privilege and great joy intended for every Christ-follower within the body of Christ.   The only hope for taking Jesus' message to all people is in believers' multiplying their labors by training disciples to continue and expand the work. If we are going to see believers around the…

Clergy & Laity Distinction: Hinders or Helps Jesus' Discipleship Mandate?

Do class distinctions such as "clergy" or "laity" or in professions where we separate work as being "sacred" or "secular" help or hurt Jesus' process for making disciples?   Additionally, while the "clergy/laity" distinction appears to be embedded and assumed as Biblical, is this class distinction found in the New Testament? Is sectarianism sinful and carnal? (see Mth. 20:25-28; Gal. 3:26-29; 1 Pet. 2:9; 1 Corinthians 1:10-17; 3:1-23; 12:1-30)

Christ in Christmas? Really?

Jill Labbe, editorial director of the Star-Telegram writes, "If you want to put Christ back into Christmas, then instead of battling the mall crowd to spend outrageous amounts of money on presents that will be forgotten by Easter, use that time and money to feed the hungry, clothe the poor and visit the infirm."   "They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you,…

  • Thanks Doug! I live in a rural area, and in the spring/summer/fall travel a lot - so it's hard to find a Christian community. I'm hoping this will be one I can find like hearts and minds. Thank you for the welcome!

  • Thanks I am sure it will be a blessing!
  • We had a great Thanksgiving. Hope Suzie is back running circles around you and the family.
