Fukushima
Partnering with a small church in Fukushima city, two of my friends are seeking to open doors for ministry. They haven't yet joined this group, but they do have a blog: http://byfaithinfukushima.blogspot.comThere are churches in Fukushima, but they don't usually want to work together. My friends are there in a really small church where at least the pastor is excited to work with other churches, and there is at least one other church with the same mindset. Prayers for unity among the Christians…

Brenda: Yes, Japan needs God in a big way. The first missionary arrived here some 400 years ago ( I think the name is Francis Xavier?) He made a lot of converts in a short period of time. Unfortunately, almost all of them were martyred. Today, less than 200 thousand Christians are around in a population of 120 million. We have not harvested much out of that martyrdom. Compare that to over 50 million Christians in China in less than 20 years..
For long now I have been wondering about the situation for the church group in Fukushima. How are they infected by the serious nuclear devastation and by the tsunami in general. What needs should we pray for in this severe catastrophe ?

It has been some time since last comment on this wall. I just want to say hello to all of you who are praying for Japan. When I was a child my father wanted to work for the norwegian seamens church in Kobe. We were so exited to go to Kobe but in the end my parents decided to return to Norway. So praying for Japan is a privilege and so important.

A resource for Japanese ministry in North America that I recently heard about. Perhaps I'll be able to get connected to some Japanese people living nearby? Pray for Japanese people living abroad. More expat Japanese live in the US than in any other country.
I visited Hiroshima's peace park and museum today... grieving the suffering they faced, but grieving more that I can't see how they are responding to similar, longer-term suffering in the world today...
Lord God, please grant to Christians in Japan more of the mind of Christ, to walk in his steps. Lead them and strengthen them to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, fight for the poor and the oppressed around the world. Lord, you have blessed this nation with wealth and many resources. Help more of them to take the next step in using all you have given them, to be your hands and feet to all who are in need, that your glory may be known in their lives.
