Verse of the Day

Verse of the Day: Psa. 16:9-11

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

  • Was not to see corruption (Acts 2:31; 13:35 )
  • Was to arise from the dead (John 20:9 )

Verse of the Day: Psa. 9:7-10

But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.

And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

ADULTÈRE – FORNICATION

ADULTÈRE – FORNICATION

I. Les chrétiens ne doivent pas commettre l’adultère:

Verse of the Day

Verse of the Day: Psa. 2:7, 8, 9

I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

  • Declared the Beloved Son (Matthew 3:17, Romans 1:4 )
  • The Crucifixion and Resurrection intimated (Acts 13:29-33)

Ministry

My heart for ministry is to see communities living with a passionate heart for the Gospel, forever transformed and equipped to take care of themselves and assist new disciples to meet their needs and those of others.

I am passionate about equipping believers to do everything as an outcome of their daily conversation with God, and to train others to do the same.

I do this because God told me that He will teach me His word so that I teach it to others.

Verse of the Day

Verse of the Day: Psa. 2:1-3

1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

  • The enmity of kings foreordained (Acts 4:25-28)
  • To own the title, Anointed (Christ) (John 1:41, Acts 2:36)

12308693665?profile=RESIZE_710xNO DOUBT!!!  And it would probably be a Scriptural 40 pages long!

The question is:

Would organized church (i.e., what Church has become) leaders open the letter?

Or, because of how many “ships have sailed” over the last 1800 years – dogma, fear mongering, customs, practices, traditions of which a significant number were acquired by merger – would Paul’s letter get thrown into the shredder?

—I would like to share how my wife stood up for Marriage at the Great Frederick Fair in Frederick, Md. and how it challenged a violinist to also stand up and share about the Lord Jesus.

At the fair there is a spot which is called the free stage.  There was a band. Led by Dennis Lee, who rented it and held outdoor concerts at the fair. Dennis is a Christian as well and openly talks about the Lord as well. The Dennis Lee, when we got there, was interviewing a couple who have been married for over 55 years.  My wife is proud that we have been married 55 years.  She got his attention and shared it with him.  Dennis asked her what held us together, and my wife unashamedly that it was the Lord.  She also shared briefly about reading the Bible together and praying together with her husband.

In Dennis Lee’s Band was a violinist, an accomplished violinist—Stephanie Ann Simon. (StephanieAnn.com) She was going to play the National Anthem at the Demolition Derby that night.  The Band leader asked her to play it for us while we were there.  Before she did, she looked at my wife and told her that what she said about Marriage encouraged to her to share her thoughts too.  She proceeded to talk about Jesus, and how Jesus was important to her and her home.  Wow!!!!!!!!!!  Talk about a move of God’s Holy Spirit.  One person spoke up initially—my wife, then what was said encouraged someone else to share—Stephanie Ann Simon.

—She ended her testimony with playing the National Anthem—with a performance that I wish you could have heard.  It was so moving that this retired Army officer rendered a military salute as it was played.

Seeing this move of God’s Holy Spirit in sharing a word about Christ—there must have been someone in the crowd who needed to hear that word.  May God’s word bring the fruit to which it was sent.

The above has been shared to encourage others to share their testimony.

A few years agok my wife and I were saddened to learn that the VBS director of my church did not encourage asking children to put their faith in Jesus by asking Him into their heart.  She did not believe children understood the concept of a Spiritual Heart.  She thought most thought of the heart as an organ that pumps blood.  The result was, no one was Saved during that VBS.  SAD.

On hearing this, my wife and I both wanted to find a way to explain the Spiritual Heart.  I looked for a visual way to help a verbal explanation. From my past studies, I decided on using some etymology discipline and my studies of the ancient Hebrew Pictographic letters.  I found that the the ancient Hebrew Pictographic letters in this case were very helpful.

The attached document are lessons that may be helpful in explaining the Spiritual Heart, both verbally and visually.

In posting these Lessons, I would apprecaite feed back.

One other consideration--Sunday School attendance is down, and possibly VBS too.  Someone could veryfy if that is correct--but I believe it may well be true.  We have many of our youth leaving church and Christianity.  My heart in sharing this study is to provide a way that can help people and children learn about the Spiritual Heart. Hopefully when they do, they will desire to put their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Please, if you take the time to read this, study the lesson provided and let me know some constructive thoughts about how we can encourage leaders to teach about what the Spiritual Heart is.

Thank you very much.

Agree/Disagree: Are We Really Protecting Our Theology?

I agree...
This is no time for despair. We don’t need to reinvent the church but to rediscover it, for the church is God’s creation. This is no time to abandon theology but to drill down deeper to take every thought, and every social imaginary, captive to Christ. The local church is the place to cultivate biblical literacy, to learn what every Christian needs to know to represent Christ and his kingdom.

...BUT...

I am convinced the desire to protect our theology gives us an excuse to ignore how our theology is rooted in and infected by our worldview, our ethnicity, our economic condition, whether our personality leans left or right. Taking every thought captive to Christ includes our biblical interpretations and applications.

This is not a veiled push for radical liberalism; it is a plea to recognize the dangers in both liberal and conservative perspectives.

Lifting Up

Over the last 10 years, in my study of God’s Word and Ancient Hebrew letters, in a discipline call Etymology, the Lord showed me something interesting in two of the Names of God that I studied.  One is Prince of Peace, which is Sar Shalom in Hebrew.  The other Name of God is Everlasting Father, which is El Gibbor in Hebrew.  In my study of Names of God, I use an etymological approach, looking at the meanings of Hebrew letters as found through Archeological research.  I know some do not accept that letters of Hebrew have meaning--but the research using archeological studies, which that I have done, shows that they do have meaning.

There are two different letters in Hebrew which focus on similar concepts—the concept of ‘lifting up’.

  • In the Name of God—Prince of Peace, Sar shalom, the first letter of Sar in the Name is שַׂ which is pronounced ‘s’ as in the word sin or the word since. It means lifting up. This Name of God is found in Isaiah 9:6.
  • In the Name of God—Mighty God, El gibbor, a letter used in that Name is גִּ which is gimmel, which can mean to lift up. This Name El Gibbor is found in Isaiah 9:6.

The concept of lifting up is seen in both letters.  When it is applied to the Names of God, it suggests that both of these Names of God, have something to do with lifting up.  In the Name, Prince of Peace, Sar shalom—it would indicate that a prince’s job is to lift up.  In the Name, Everlasting Father, it would suggest that a Mighty God is lifting something up.  What is that something?  The letter בּ, beyt, which is used in that of that name and refers to a House—or a Family.

From the study of the Name of God, Prince of Peace above, it suggests that a Prince is to lift up those whom he is prince over.  Putting those two meanings together, the Name, Mighty God refers to lifting up the family, with God who is over his family as the Head lifting up His family!  Both names have the concept of lifting up.  Our God is one that lifts up.  He is one that encourages—which is just one way of lifting up.  Lifting up is way of showing that God cares for us.  Much more could be said, but what we have shared about this concept of lifting up should help us to be thankful that we have a God who cares about us and lifts us up both as individuals and as a family.  God’s Name is worthy to be praised.

Encouraging words by Max Lucado

Excerpt from the book: You were made for this moment, by Max Lucado

‘To whom will you compare Me? Or who is My equal?’ says the Holy One.

— Isaiah 40:25

 As Moses announced:

Who among the gods is like You, Lord? Who is like You — majestic in holiness? — Exodus 15:11

 And the psalmist asked:

Who in the skies is comparable to the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty is like the Lord? — Psalm 89:6 NASB

 As Augustine prayed:

What then are you my God? What, I ask, except the Lord God. For who is the Lord besides God? Or who is God besides our God? — Most high, most good, most powerful, most omnipotent, most merciful and most just, most secret and most present; most beautiful and most strong; most stable and incomprehensible; unchangeable (yet) changing all things; never new, never old; making all things new, and bringing the proud to (the collapse of) old age; ever acting, ever at rest; gathering, and not needing; carrying and filling and protecting (all things); creating and nourishing and perfecting; seeking, though you lack nothing.1

Consider the work of His hands.

But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or ask the birds of the air, and they will tell you.

Speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea tell you.

Every one of these knows
that the hand of the Lord has done this.

The life of every creature
and the breath of all people are in God’s hand. —
Job 12:7-10 NCV

The next time you feel the weight of the world, talk to the One who made the world. As your perception of God grows greater, the size of your challenge grows smaller. If God can sway the heart of a Persian monarch, if He can reverse certain death into victorious life, if He can turn a scheduled holocaust into an annual holiday, do you not think He can take care of you?

I’m sorry for your exile in Persia. I’m sorry for your deep wounds and weariness. I’m so sorry that you so quickly understand the meaning of words like painfear, and sadness.

Springtime seems like forever from now, I know. But, friend, it isn’t. The story of Esther dares you to believe that God, though hidden, is active. He brings life out of broken things. The apostle Paul was summarizing Esther when he wrote:

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. — Romans 8:28

“We know,” Paul said. There are so many things in life we do not know. We do not know if the economy will dip or if our team will win. We don’t always know what our kids are thinking or our spouse is doing. But according to Paul we can be dead certain of four things.

We know God works. He is busy behind the scenes, above the fray, and within the fury. He hasn’t checked out or moved on. He is ceaseless and tireless.

He never stops working for our good. Not for our comfort, pleasure, or entertainment, but for our good. Since he himself is the ultimate good, would we expect anything else?

To do this He uses all things. Panta in Greek. As in panoramic or panacea or pandemic. All inclusive. God works, not through a few things or just the good things, best things, or easy things, but in all things God works.

He works for the good of those who love Him. Good things happen to those who trust God. The umbrella of God’s providence does not extend to cover the evil and hard-hearted. But for those who seek Him and His will, in all things God works.

A puppet in the hands of fortune and fate? Not you. You are secure in the hands of a living and loving God.

A random collection of disconnected events? Far from it. Your life is a crafted narrative written by the Author of life, who is working toward your supreme good and a sublime ending.

 Relief will come.
Will you be a part of it?

It seems to me that the entire world is in a state of trauma. People do not know why they were born or where they are destined to go. This is the age of much know-how and very little know-why. The invisible enemies of sin and secularism have left us dazed and bewildered.

The world needs you! We need people with the resolve of Mordecai and the courage of Esther. The world is in desperate need of a people of God who will stay steady in the chaos.

People like the ones who gathered in war-torn London. No one would have blamed them for canceling church services on that Sunday morning. A bombing raid had roared in the city throughout the night. London was a circle of fire. Buildings were destroyed. Even the walls of this church were flattened. Members arrived to find pews covered with dust and mortar. But rather than despair, they chose to worship. Amid the heaps of stones they began to sing:

The church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord; She is His new creation, By Spirit and the Word: From Heav’n He came and sought her

To be His holy Bride,
With His own blood He bought her, And for her life He died.

Can you envision that circle of brave souls? Smack-dab in the center of global chaos, they worshipped. They set their faith on our unfailing God. The song was an admonition of sorts, a declaration of truth amid a crumbling society.

The song may well have saved the life of Ben Robertson. He was an American war correspondent who had arrived in London the day before. The night bombing left him undone and terrified. The explosions, sirens, and cries of the wounded caused him to despair of life itself.

“If this is what modern civilization has brought us to — if this is the best that modern man can achieve, then let me die,” he prayed.

At some point he dozed off. He awoke to the unexpected sound of people singing a hymn. He looked out the window and saw the congregation gathered in the rubble.

He later wrote: “Suddenly I saw in the world something that was unshatterable — something that had endured through millennia, something that was indestructible — the spirit and life and power of Jesus Christ within His Church.”2

Bombs are still dropped. Worlds still explode. Walls still collapse. Pandemics still rage. But in the midst of it all, the Lord still has His people. And when they proclaim the truth of God in the middle of a crumbling world, you never know who might be changed.

God is in the middle of this. This steep climb. This uphill struggle. This cold, fierce headwind you are facing. You feel overwhelmed. Weary. Ill-equipped to weather it. But lift up your eyes. That is your Father standing on the driveway. He is in this moment with you. Who knows but that you have been chosen for such a time as this?

Good-Trouble

Deep thanks for everyone's concern and prayers ...

We hope to return home Saturday.

Extremely grateful our house appears to be intact, especially after seeing so many who have endured loss of property, many now homeless and without the huge sums of money needed to rebuild.

This has really messed up my praying.

I am not doubting God nor losing faith in prayer.

Just having trouble knowing how to thank God in a way that would not make me distrust or hate God if I heard that prayer while my house were not spared.

If I credit god for diverting the storm in an unexpected direction to bless me, does that mean God overlooked my cousin (damage to his home) or our friends (lifelong missionaries of the Church) in Fort Myers?

I am remembering afresh that faith, prayer, and life with God are rooted in both truth (there are some things we can know for certain) and mystery (there are some things we will never fully comprehend in this life).

I know the Spirit is leading me on is to expose blind spots, weak areas, and incorrect applications of biblical truths that infect my faith.

Recognizing answers, as well intentioned as they might be, that are simplistic is a part of that journey. I know Jesus wants to strip away the explanations I have created and replace them with the simple but radical truth of Scripture.

The Spirit is stirring up good-trouble.

#ItSeemsToMe...That's good.

Why #ReimagineCHURCH…?

Because many congregations are using rotary phone mind-sets and methods in a touchtone age (digital; texting; video).

The http://Reimagine.Network was created to help you make the mindshift .

“In the decades after 1963, rotary dials were gradually phased out on new telephone models in favor of keypads and the primary dialing method to the central office became touchtone dialing, but most central office systems still support rotary telephones today.”
