Filled!

9651033870?profile=original

Filled with hope! Filled with joy! Filled with confidence! Turn on the faucet and let yourself be filled! God is ready willing and able to fill you with all that you need to redeem your life and move forward into a new lifestyle filled with promise, His promise!

God Himself seeks out the wounded and the broken hearted. He desires that we be healed and redeemed. He desires that we live in abundance of security, hope and love. He desires to inspire all of us to do His will, and by doing so, live in His promise of a new life.

This new life is up to you. He calls you, but He does not force you. He also will not beg you, but He will open the opportunities for you to follow. Ultimately, it is your choice.

Fill your heart with the Word of God and watch your life change in so many ways! Stay in His word, live the lifestyle of a believer and witness the change in your own spirit and mind. See where this new life takes you!

We gather together as believers to share what the Lord has done for us. We share His Word! We seek out the truth and walk in His Love. God is waiting! He is waiting for you to want to change your life! He is waiting for you to make a choice. He is watching for you to arrive at that place in between and make the decision to follow Him and have a better life. God is for you! He is not against you! He has a plan for you, to give you a hope and a future! (Jeremiah 29:11) Do not hesitate! Call on Him! Give your heart to Him! Give your plans to Him! Seek out His will and follow His Word! You cannot go wrong if you are walking in the Word of God! Share His love and His heart and see the blessings He pours out over you!

Take the leap! Fall into His Word! The sincere heart for God will not be disappointed! Those who are insincere, woe to you. You will be more than disappointed. God is not a magic potion to be used and done. He is the Way, the Truth and the Light! Without Him we are nothing! Do not allow another day to go by without picking up a Bible and reading of the mysterious wonders of the world and its history. You will be transformed! You will be filled with joy! You will be able to become one of His chosen!

Morning by Morning, July 30 - The Harvest is Here!

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Speak Your words of spirit and life into my heart and mind. Give me ears to hear and courage to follow in faithfulness and trust.  ...

"He who gathers in summer is a wise son; he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame" (Proverbs 10:5 NKJV).

Holy Spirit, awaken me! Stir in my heart and open my eyes to see the harvest at hand. Give me words to speak and hope to share, whether across the hall or around the world, in my neighborhood or to the nations.

Lord Jesus, You explained that "the harvest is the end of the age" (Matthew 13:39). And You encouraged us that "the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest" (Matthew 9:37-38).

My Father God, Lord of the harvest, send out Your laborers into Your harvest. It's Your harvest, not ours. But we are Your laborers who go and lead and love, just as we are Your intercessors who watch and pray and ask, all in in the name of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let us not sleep through Your harvest! "Sleeper, awake!" (Ephesians 5:14) You said "when the grain is ripe, at once (You will go in) with (Your) sickle, because the harvest has come" (Mark 4:26). In our generation, the grain is growing ripe as never before. It is growing into the fullness You've intended and promised (Mark 4:26-29).

So there will be "a great harvest" (2 Corinthians 9:10). And I want to be a part. I want to do my part. I want to be one of Your servants and sons "found faithful" and wise, not "shameful" and "sleeping" (1 Corinthians 4:2; Proverbs 10:5). Whether I'm one of Your intercessors praying or one of Your laborers going, I want to be one who hears Your voice and obeys Your command to "look around (me), and see how the fields are ripe for harvesting!" (John 4:35) The harvest is at hand; the harvest is here! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray you awake and arise to watch and pray and ask, to go and lead and love as the Holy Spirit leads into the FAther's harvest in the mighty name of Jesus! Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Praise Report! Preaching in Pakistan:  Friends, thank you for all your prayers, encouragement, and support for my opportunity to be preaching in an open-air evangelistic meeting in Pakistan through our Skype Internet Ministry last night (Sunday morning in Texas; Sunday night in Pakistan). Pastor Fazal and his team have just sent pictures and reported that over 300 people open their hearts to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and over 60 people testified to receiving healing and freedom from bondage and pain! Praise God for His great harvest! They will continue to followup on-site in the village.

Thank you so much for all your continued prayers, encouragement, and support for this! Each month, I will be preaching in different villages around Lahore, Pakistan in the Punjab Region through these internet meetings with an interpreter and ministry team on-site. Please keep us in prayer for salvation, healing, deliverance, and revival in the mighty name of Jesus! God bless you!

In the stillness of this time and place, we lift our hurting hearts to You, O God. Thank You for life, and specifically the life of the one we celebrate today, and for allowing these family members and friends to share life with them. Thank You for the assurance that we who are believers, will once again share life with them in Your eternal heaven (John 14:1-3). Thank You for the gift of memory which will allow a continuation of thoughts about them for the next days, weeks, years. Relieve our broken hearts. Comfort our sorrow. Especially comfort the family, today, tomorrow, next week, next month, and every time they miss their loved one. Increase our faith in the unseen and the unknown. Even with the remains before us, we look up, for we know they is no longer here. They are absent from this body and already present with You (2 Corinthians 5:8). Remind us all that there is more to life than dying, and more to death than the grave. For that we say, hallelujah and Amen.

The Presidential Prayer Team daily prayer page today mentions that it's 100 days to the mid-term elections.  With division in our country running so high and questions still surrounding alleged attempts to interfere with the 2016 elections, we need God's intervention both to protect our election process and to put in place leaders who will honor him.  How should we then pray?  This is the first of a series of posts with thoughts on how to pray for our upcoming elections.

Pray for the campaigns

If you're like me, you quickly tire of the campaign commercials so prevalent right now.  Candidates telling half-truths, trying to make themselves look better than they really are and their opponents look worse than they really are.  Here are a couple of suggestions for prayer:

  1. Pray for Christian candidates.  Ask God to give them integrity and truthfulness in their campaigning.  Pray for hearts willing to do and accept God's will, regardless of whether that means getting elected or not.  Pray for God's protection from temptation and deliverance from the evil one.  Ask God to guard their words, to lead them to speak the truth in love.
  2. Pray for campaigns based on "light" rather than "heat" - that truthfulness in campaigning will prevail and that God will reign in the natural tendencies of candidates to focus on negative.  Ask God to lead candidates to honestly share their own views and priorities, so that voters will have good information to make informed choices.
  3. Ask God to raise up prayer throughout the country for wise and faithful leaders.  Ask him to lead his church to pray not based on political agenda but rather earnestly seeking and desiring for his will to be accomplished through the elections.

I once participated in a small group whose focus was to pray for our country.  We met weekly to pray and we shared a passion to see God honored in our land.  But I was never fully comfortable with the way we prayed as a group.  While I agreed with the conservative bent of the group, it concerned me that we tended to pray as if our politics were "right".  We tended to give God the answers rather than simply seeking his glory.

Such prayer can actually prove divisive in a group whose members have differing political, economic, and social outlooks.  So as we ask God to raise up concerted, intentional prayer for our nation and for the coming elections, let's ask him to cleanse our hearts of our own agendas so that we can honestly pray, "Your kingdom come, your will be done" as it relates to the campaign and election process.

Next up:  Pray for the candidates

Church Unity (Post 8/7/2018)

Unity-Love-and-Colossians.png?width=600

I have spent a lot of time writing on #ChurchUnity lately. The post below can be found at MarkMirza.com

Demonstration of Unity

I have been spending a lot of time with the book of Colossians. Because book 2 of my current novel series, (which I just finished this week, YIPPEE!!!) includes a major section that centers around the ancient city of Colossae (you can find book 1 HERE).

I was up late last night rereading the beginning of Colossians and it struck me that Paul says, “hello” to so many of his churches by telling them how much and how often he and his entourage thank the Lord for them.

Love in the Colossae Church

And though I have read it dozens and dozens of times over these this last few months. It struck me how this view of Love in the Colossae Church must differ from ours in the 21st century Church.

Now I recognize that I am painting churches with one broad brush and that is unfair. I give that to you and I apologize if am wrong about your church, which I know I will be.

Love For All the Saints

But I started thinking about many, many of the people that I pray with and I recognized that I see Love For All the Saints in Jerry and Todd, and in the 3 Davids, in Lew and Derrick and Tony.

Love For All the Saints is evident in Bryan and Greg and Aaron and Bryant.

There is Love For All the Saints in Tom and in Bennett, in Brandon and Ben and Marc, in Jerry and Vince and Victor.

I also see Love For All the Saints in Roger and Eugene, in Don in Craig and in John and Reed.

I even see Love For All the Saints in the women that I pray with on these conference calls.

They all pray!

Now you need to realize, these men and women come from all over the economic landscape and the spiritual maturity landscape. They come from all over the theological landscape, and, God forbid, the political landscape.

And it took me only half a second to realize what the common denominator was and is, in every single one of them. Surely you know what that common denominator is, don’t you?

They all pray!

The Colossae Leader Prayed

DON’T think I’m writing ONLY TO PASTORS!

Are you a leader in your home, with your siblings, at work, when you are alone and by yourself?

This message is to ALL OF US!

Is it any wonder that Epaphras who played an important role in the Colossae church (Colossians 1:7a) before he went to Paul’s side, is known and remained known as a man of Prayer (Colossians 4:12-13)?

Whose Fault is Dis-Unity

PS. You may want to stop reading this. Continue at your own risk. . .

There is a reason we do not have unity in the church . . . And it is our fault.

It’s not the fault of those that we believe are wrong in their thinking. It’s not the fault of those who won’t change “no matter how much we pray” that they do change.

I believe the problem is in us, the ones who won’t pray that we would love others unconditionally.

Love them when they see the light and get their act together? Absolutely!

But humbly come before the Lord and ask Him to fix me because I don’t like somebody, with a righteous dislike of course! Absolutely No Way!

What’s the Cost

Why don’t we have #ChurchUnity?

I believe the reason we do not have #ChurchUnity is because it is too costly. And we, the ones who “claim we want” unity are, for the most part, unwilling to pay the price.

Imagine what #ChurchUnity means. It means that I have to engage with, “those other people.”

Scripture and Unity

Romans chapter 15 verse 5 (Mark’s paraphrase) May the God of endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves, as you follow Christ.

You want unity? It’s the other guy’s responsibility, right?

Not at all. You want unity? It’s on you, not them.

John chapter 17 verse 21 (again, Mark’s paraphrase) The way they will know that I came from the Father has nothing to do with your ability to parse doctrine, how you baptize, how you pray or how you vote. The way they will know that I came from the Father is if you have unity. By the way that was Jesus speaking.

The next time you talk about unity in the church, would you ask yourself if you’re willing to pay the price to be united with those that you vigorously disagree with?

Blessings,

Morning by Morning, July 27 - A New Thing Springs Forth Today

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I call on Your name and listen for Your voice to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit.  ...

"I, I am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior.... Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old.  I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert" (Isaiah 43:11-20).

You are my Savior. And I thank You for everything You have saved me from and saved me through -- from hell and through some hellish seasons, from myself and through all my selfishness, from a life focused on things that will have no lasting significance and through so many temptations to shrink back or settle for less than the fullness of all You've intended for me.

Thank You for saving me -- not just in that moment as a little boy giving You my heart, but also in every moment of every day that You keep on saving me, because I am forever in need of Your love and grace. And I'll always have it, through every saving moment to come, for "the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness! ... The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul that seeks Him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.... Let us lift up our hearts as well as our hands to the God in heaven.... I called on Your name, O Lord, from the depths of the pit; You heard my plea.... You came near when I called on You; You said, 'Do not fear!' You have taken up my cause, O Lord, You have redeemed my life!" (Lamentations 3:22-58)

And while You have done so much for me, You are always "about to do a new thing" because Your mercies are "new every morning." In Your mercy and grace, in Your power and love, in Your good plans of "a future with hope" for me, Your salvation is about to "spring forth" for me again today! (Jeremiah 29:11) Give me eyes to perceive it! Give me faith to expect it! Give me the wisdom to wait for it! Give me courage to embrace it!

As I wait on You in these first moments of my morning, in the deep communion of worship and prayer, I can't wait to see what You will do today! I'm excited to see how You'll "make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert" to display Your glory in and through my life today, mighty Savior of my soul! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Morning by Morning, July 26 - Kind and Powerful Words

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Master, Savior, Lord and King, as best as I can and all by Your grace, I yield my will to Your will to begin my day walking with You.  ...

"Kind words are like honey -- sweet to the soul and healthy for the body" (Proverbs 16:24 NLT).

Anoint my words with kindness today. Speak Your words through my mouth, words of spirit and life, powerful words to encourage and comfort and edify (1 Corinthians 14:3). Sanctify my tongue to "sustain the weary with a word" (Isaiah 50:4).

Kindness is part of Your nature, for "the Lord is just in all His ways and kind in all His doings" (Psalm 145:17). And it's a part of Your nature that You desire to express through my nature. You desire that we "show kindness and mercy to one another" as an extension of Your heart and Your words through our lives every day -- especially on the days and with the people where it's hardest to be kind and merciful (Zechariah 7:9). As you said as You walked this earth in the flesh as our example, "Love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for He is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful" (Luke 6:35-36).

"The fruit of the Spirit is ... kindness.... If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit" (Galatians 5:22-25). So I need You to guide me by Your Spirit to be kind and merciful, to speak kind words, even as I am "speaking the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15). "Love is patient; love kind" (1 Corinthians 13:4). It will be sweet to the soul and healthy to the body -- for theirs and for mine. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray you are anointed and guided by the Holy Spirit to speak kind and powerful words today that encourage and comfort and edify all those you encounter, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, July 25 - "See and Reflect the Glory of the Lord"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak Your name and seek Your nature, as I begin my day embracing Your presence -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God.  ...

"We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so that people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. But the people's minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the Old Covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so that they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. Yes, even today when they read Moses' Writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand. But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord -- who is the Spirit -- makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into His glorious image (2 Corinthians 3:13-18 NLT).

Spirit of the living God, come fall afresh on me, come rise up within me, come awaken me to "see and reflect the glory of the Lord." Come remove the veil of everything that would keep me from seeing and hearing and sensing the presence and power of the Lord, my God. You're the One who "makes (me) more and more like Him" as I am being "changed into His glorious image" -- morning by morning and moment by moment on my daily journey of worship and prayer.

Let my heart be tender and my mind be clear to hear Your voice and sense Your leading. Where my heart has grown hardened or my mind has grown dull through complacency or compromise, through passivity or rebellion, through settling for something less than the fullness of "Christ in (me), the hope of glory," come move again with a passion to persistently pursue the presence and the glory of God (Colossians 1:27).

May I never stopped crying out from my spirit to Your Spirit, from deep to Deep -- every morning and throughout the moments of my day -- "Show me Your glory!" (Exodus 33:18; Psalm 42:7)  Open the eyes of my heart, for as I see You and pursue You, so I seek to become more like You (Ephesians 1:18). As You are, so am I to be, so am I to become -- "changed into Your glorious image" to "see and reflect the glory of the Lord" (1 John 4:17; 2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray the Holy Spirit moves in your heart -- morning by morning and every moment of your day -- to passionately, persistently pursue the presence of the Lord and be changed into His image, as you see and reflect the glory of the Lord, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Why? (Praying in Crisis, Pt. 3)

David suffered much in his life - some of it the result of the sinfulness of others (as in King Saul's pursuit of him) and some of it the result of his own sin (for example, in the episode with Bathsheba or the counting of the army).  Sometimes David understood why he suffered; at other times he cried out in desperation and confusion to God.  Psalm 22 is one of these latter occasions.

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?", he begins.  (We'll discuss Jesus' similar prayer in the future.)  David could not understand why God wasn't hearing and responding to his cries of anguish (verses 1-2).  Why did God not rescue him from his enemies, who mocked him and insulted him (verses 6-8).

How often do we find ourselves in a similar position?  Our torment may not come directly from enemies, but our anguish is no less real just because its source may be less specific.  Illness, tragedy, financial misfortune, relational difficulties - these may not have a source we can name like David could, but the distress they cause is just as genuine.

David found an answer during the course of the Psalm, but it wasn't a direct answer to the question of "Why?"  Instead, David's answer was to realize God's power and majesty, his faithfulness to his people (verses 3-5).  He recognizes that he depends for his very life on God (verses 9-10).  God's faithfulness in the past, both to his people in general and to David specifically, caused David to continue to cry out to God (verses 19-21).

Knowing that God has been faithful and trusting that he will continue to be, David moves into praise and to calling forth praise from the people (verses 22-31).  Not only does David see God's hand in his own life - even though he may never have received a direct answer to his question of "Why?" - but he also sees God's activity in the nations and throughout history, leading him to declare:

All the ends of the earth

will remember and turn to the Lord,

and all the families of the nations

will bow down before him,

for dominion belongs to the Lord

and he rules over the nations.

All the rich of the earth will feast and worship;

all who go down to the dust will kneel before him—

those who cannot keep themselves alive.

Posterity will serve him;

future generations will be told about the Lord.

They will proclaim his righteousness,

declaring to a people yet unborn:

He has done it! (verses 27-31)

We've all experienced times when it felt like God abandoned us.  We didn't receive an answer to our prayer (or at least not the answer we wanted).  We longed for a certain outcome, but it didn't happen.  We suffered without an obvious reason why.

David's example to us demonstrates that it's OK to approach God with our "Why?" questions.  He understands when we feel abandoned (even though he knows he hasn't forsaken us!).  He can handle our cries of anguish and our times of despair.

At the same time, God longs for us to see him as David did - not always because of his visible work in our lives but sometimes in spite of the seeming lack of his intervention.  It's easy to praise God when his blessing is all around us (though we may often forget to do just that!); it requires much more faith to praise him when evidence of his goodness is less visible.  At times like these, it helps to remember as David did who God is.  His identity is not wrapped up in what we might be going through; rather, he is enthroned in heaven (verse 3) and he rules over the nations (verse 28).  A God like that is worthy of our worship and our faith, regardless of the temporary circumstances we may be facing.

So again, we begin with "Why" but we end up in a very different place.  We end up with our eyes on God rather than on our circumstances, and we're encouraged as we behold the One to whom all the ends of the earth will turn.

Morning by Morning, July 24 - "Right Beside Me"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Lead me in the way of life in You today.  ...

"I bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. For You will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your Presence the pleasures of living with You forever!" (Psalm 16:7-11 NLT)

You are "right beside me."  ...

What if I were to live my life believing that was true?  ...

What if I were to live this day believing that was true? ...

If I truly believed You were right beside me, would I make different choices throughout the moment of my day. Would I be more secure and confident? Would I be more careful and diligent? Would I be more honest and faithful? Would I be afraid in the fear of the Lord or would I be fearless in the certainty of my Savior?

The truth is You are right beside me. Always (Matthew 28:20). You never leave me (Hebrews 13:5). In fact, You are within me by the indwelling of Your very Spirit (Colossians 1:27; 1 Corinthians 3:16). You always know every thought in my mind and every desire in my heart. I couldn't hide from You if I tried. They don't make fig leaves that big anymore!

The truth is:  "O Lord, You have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I'm far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place Your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! I can never escape from Your Spirit! I can never get away from Your Presence! If I go up to heaven, You are there; if I god down to the grave, You are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there You hand will guide me, and Your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night -- but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.... And when I wake up, You are still with me!" (Psalm 139:18 NLT)

So no matter how it makes me feel or act, You are "right beside me" regardless. And in the light of that eternal truth, give me grace to live my life each day with a deeper awareness of that truth and Your Presence. It's a good thing. No, it's a great thing. In fact, it's a grace thing that I could never earn and never deserve, but only receive as the great gift of God that it is -- the gift of the ever-abiding Presence of my God who loves me and likes being with me!

Thank You, Lord! Help me learn to appreciate You and Your Presence more. Thank You for being "right beside me" every moment of my life forever. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Morning by Morning, July 23 - Your Kingdom Come!

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done -- here in my heart and every moment of my day -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God.  ...

"For the kingdom of God is ... righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit" (Romans 14:17).

When You rule as King in my heart, there is righteousness in the Holy Spirit. You're setting things right -- right between me and my God, right between me and others, and right within myself.

When You rule as King in my heart, there is peace in the Holy Spirit. It's Your peace, not the world's peace -- peace between me and my God, peace with others, and peace within myself.

When You rule as King in my heart, there is joy in the Holy Spirit. It's the fullness of joy You desire me to have when my joy is made complete and the joy of the Lord is my strength -- joy between me and my God, joy with others, and joy within myself.

You said, "The kingdom of God is within (me)" (Luke 17:21). I need more of Your kingdom within me. I need more of Your righteousness, more of Your peace, more of Your joy. I need more of Your Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). I need more of You ruling and reigning as King in my heart.

So come, Holy Spirit. You are the One who moves in my heart to manifest and advance the fullness of the kingdom of God within me -- the kingdom of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit within me. "For God is working in (me), giving (me) the desire and the power do what pleases Him" (Philippians 2:13 NLT). The more I yield and surrender, embracing Your Presence and Your plan, entrusting my heart to You and Your will, the more the kingdom of God advances in me. That's how Your kingdom comes and Your will is done, on earth (and right here in me) as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10).

Father God, let Your kingdom come, let Your will be done. Fill me afresh with Your Spirit, with Your righteousness and peace and joy. I open my spirit and bow my heart before You, "that the King of glory may come in!" (Psalm 24:7) Let the kingdoms of this world and the kingdom of my heart "become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!" (Revelation 11:15 NKV)  In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray the fullness of the kingdom of God comes in you in a fresh filling of the Presence of God with His righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, in Jesus' name! May the King of glory come into you and every are of your life! Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

WRITING IN HEAVEN?

I was recently blessed by a prayer-a-phrase of The Lord's Prayer by Mary Harwell Sayler in her Christian Writer's Guide

https://www.amazon.com/Christian-Writers-Guide-Harwell-Sayler-ebook/dp/B00FGCUXRM/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1532108783&sr=8-4-fkmr0&keywords=christian+writers+guide%2C+mary+harwell+saylor.

Part of the prayer reads, “as though written in Heaven.”

Will there be writing in Heaven? Will we be writers in Heaven? I will tell you how I actually began thinking about this. I have some ideas for books that I may not have time to write. I have already lived longer than doctors thought I would. I certainly hope God will allow me to write them here. That is my prayer. But I have wondered if I might write some of them in the presence of God.

I believe the dictum in 1 Corinthians 13, “Prophecy will pass away,” must apply here. If there is anything like writing in heaven everything about it will be different. Surely my perspective will be radically transformed. And God's purpose for me may be completely different. But I also believe creativity, stories, and truth all relate to the image of God re-created in us. And Revelation 20:6 tells us that those who share in the first resurrection will be priests of God and of the Lamb. Could part of the duties of a priest be writing stories that touch the lives of those who hear or read them?

Of course, this is foolish thinking. My focus, and energy needs to be on what God wants me to do now. I need to be filling the unforgiving minutes of my life on this Earth by writing what God wants me to write now. But there is also an inkling of hope for what God may have for me beyond.

Morning by Morning, July 20 - Forgiven and Free from Bondage and Sin!

Good morning, Lord Jesus. From the rising of the sun, through every moment of my day, I give You praise -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God.  ...

"When he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that (Jesus) was at home. So many gathered around that there was no longer room for them, not even in front of the door; and He was speaking the word to them. Then some people came, bringing to Him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. And when they could not bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof above Him; and after having dug through it, they let down the mat on which the paralytic lay. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, 'Son, your sins are forgiven.' Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, 'Whey does this fellow speak in this way? It is blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?' At once Jesus perceived in His spirit that they were discussing these questions among themselves; and He said to them, 'Why do you raise such questions in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Stand up and take your mat and walk'? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins' -- He said to the paralytic -- 'I say to you, stand up, take your mat and go to your home.' And he stood up, and immediately took the mat and went before all of them; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, 'We have never seen anything like this!'" (Mark 2:1-12).

This man was paralyzed in his body. But You didn't speak first to his body, You spoke first to his soul. You said, "Son, your sins are forgiven." He needed healing in his body, but first he needed the healing of his soul. His body was paralyzed, but so was his soul -- as paralyzed and lifeless and dead as his legs. But You came that he would have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). You came to set him free from his paralyze and death, that You might raise him up to walk in newness of life -- "just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life!" (Romans 6:4)

You called this man "Son" because You are our Father, the Father of all who believe in You to forgive us from our sins and free us from death and all that would keep us bound up and crippled from embracing the fullness of life You have for us all. "To all who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave power to become children of God, who were born not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God" (John 1:12). "For in Christ Jesus (we) are all children of God through faith" (Galatians 3:26).

As You spoke Your words of spirit and life into his spirit, You forgave him of his sins and freed him of his bondage. And he responded in faith. He stood up and took up his mat and walked out his faith in front of them all with great joy! The salvation of his soul began to manifest in the salvation of his body! And allwho saw it -- even the Your critics -- were amazed and glorified God! (Mark 2:12)

Lord Jesus, Your words are "spirit and life" (John 6:63). Speak Your words of spirit and life into my spirit today. Forgive me from my sins and free me from my bondage. Raise me up into newness of life to walk in Your ways -- leaping in my soul and shouting Your praises and glorifying my God! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Morning by Morning, July 19 - "Love the Truth"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Speak to my heart and lead me in Your ways -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God.  ...

"The coming of the lawless one is apparent in the working of Satan, who uses all power, signs, and lying wonders, and every kind of wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved" (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10).

Come, Holy Spirit. Give me a love for the truth. You are "the Spirit of truth" who "comes (to) guide (me) into all the truth" and "glorify (Jesus)" (John 16:13).

In these days and the days to come, just knowing the truth will not be enough. "Even the demons believe -- and shudder" (James 2:19). No, we need more. We need to "lovethe truth" (2 Thessalonians 2:10). We need to love the truth, just as a wise person loves correction and discipline (Proverbs 13:1). That's our antidote to the power of deception -- a lovefor the truth.

Loving truth is different from loving what we want to hear, loving what fits our feelings, or loving what we think is right despite what You say is right. And You've already warned us that we will be tempted to give into the pressures of our world to turn from the truth in the times to come:  "For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths" (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

"The truth" is not simply a statement of faith or mental assent to accurate doctrine. The truth is a Person. You are the Truth. You are "the Way, and the Truth, and the Life" (John 15:6). You are the One we need to love. Loving You, loving the One who is Truth, is the Way You've provided to lead us through the confusion, deception, and temptation to compromise to come.

You said, "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, because He abides with you, and He will be in you" (John 14:15-17).

As I grow in my love for You, I grow in my love for Truth. May my love for You, my love for Truth, keep me from being deceived in these days to come -- even by "the working of Satan, who uses all power, signs, and lying wonders, and every kind of wicked deception." In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray you grow in your love of the truth, in your love for the One who is the Truth every day, so that you are not confused or deceived to give in to the temptation to compromise with God's truth, now and in the days to come, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

FAITH HEALS

The Bible clearly draws us not only to believe in healing, but to believe in Jesus. Let my share my own testimony. I have had numbers of people pray very formally for my healing, including some who anointed me with oil. And frankly, I am encouraged when someone tells me they're praying I will be healed of my cancer. Some years ago now, I told one of my oncologists,”The reason I am alive longer than you thought I would be, is because people are praying for me.” He was silent a moment and then he said, “That's right.”

But I also need to say that everytime I think about praying for God to completely heal me of my cancer a scripture verse comes to my mind. Hebrews 9:27 reads,

“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,”

You may have noticed that the sentence does not end with this verse. Verse 28 concludes the thought.

“so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”

I do not believe that God is using this passage, necessarily, to tell me I am not going to be healed. But I do believe He is giving me a broader perspective on faith in Jesus Christ. I am not just trusting him for the here and now. I'm trusting Him for the forever. And I am waiting for Him to bring it about.

And in this God has been giving me a peace about life and death. And He has used that to bear witness to people in a world where all of us will die. And I certainly believe that is more important than immediate healing.

Morning by Morning, July 17 - See and Abide; Abide and See

Good morning, Lord Jesus. You're welcome here in my heart and in the moments of my day.  ...

"Jesus said to him, 'Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know Me? Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father. How an you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? ... I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, because He abides with you, and He will be in you" (John 14:9-17)

Lord Jesus, when I see You, I see my Father. When I abide in You, Your Spirit abides in me. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God, help me see and abide; help me abide and see. I become like the One I see -- "being transformed in the same image (2 Corinthians 3:18). And I become one with the One I allow to abide within me -- "anyone united with the Lord becomes one spirit with Him" (1 Corinthians 6:17).

Open my eyes to see. Open my heart to abide. Let me see You more clearly each day. Let me abide in You more deeply each day. Make me more like You each day -- "because as (You are), so are we in this world" (1 John 4:18).

"God is faithful; by Him (we) were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord" (1 Corinthians 1:9). So by the power of Your grace at work within me, may I see and abide; may I abide and see; I in You and You in me. "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of (us)" (2 Corinthians 13:13). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray you see the Lord more clearly and abide in Him more deeply each day, becoming like the One you see and allow to abide in you, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

P.N Tip: Try Google Chrome!

If you're in the habit of pasting information and prayer requests here at Pray.Network (as I am), here's a tip:  Use Google Chrome rather than Internet Explorer or Edge browsers.  I have found that with IE/Edge, pasted copy often gets cut off on the right-hand side, reformatted in ways I don't expect, and pictures often don't come out well.

I've noticed since switching over to Chrome that none of these problems are present in that browser.  Chrome does do a little reformatting, but not nearly so severe as IE/Edge, and it doesn't cut off text on the right-hand side.  I have found many of my prayer discussion posts to be much more readable and require much less formatting work on my part since switching.

Try it out if you paste information from other websites here!

God Is In My Life Today

Today’s words only begin to scratch the surface of the entity of God.

Here is a start of who He is in my life.

handMy life has been hard at times and good at times. I have figured out that you learn so much in the hard times and to be extremely grateful for the good times. God is good and He wants only good for us. But He also knows that we are still in a fallen world full of sin and sinful people. Bad things happen to all, including God’s chosen. His mercy is always there for us. He loves people. He yearns for us to come to him for rest and recuperation, forgiveness and the strength to forgive others. I have learned that He does not want us to be discouraged in the bad times but to look to Him for the answers, the grace to overcome and the peace that He is with us and He has our backs.

Be encouraged with what He has to say to us today:

My children, I call to you from the heavens to follow me. Learn from me and let me heal you. Let me guide you to new ways to live this life in my bounty. Let me show you the gratefulness I have for you. Let me show you how much I love you. Let me be the one you turn to when you need anything at all. If you pray first, hear from me and then act on what I tell you, you will see the good fruits of a relationship with me. You will grow in the presence of my love. You will see how I protect you from the evil one and bless you with my great joy. You will prosper in unseen ways. You will benefit from intimacy with me in your prayer life. You will know how to go about the business of daily life because you have invited me into it and allowed me to guide you. I will not take over your life. I will not be there without your invitation. I am here. I am ready to help you. I am ready to help you learn from the Word that has been written for you. I am ready to bless your life like you have never seen before. But only when you invite me. You have to come to me. I am not forcing my way through or into your life. I am a gentleman that you must call upon. Your call will be answered. I am not magic. I am not a puppet. I am the one and only true God of the heavens. I made you, then I let you go. You have your own will and your own mind. I do not control you or necessarily your circumstances. I am your great confidant. I am a still soft voice in your ear. I am your peace. I am your blessing. Come to me for rest and peace. I love all of my children. But you are not my child if you do not turn to me. Do not look for a “sugar daddy”, but look for the one who loves you and cherishes your time and your effort. Be ready for me to change your heart and heal your wounds. Be ready to walk through the barriers of the world and find a new life in me that is fresh and filled with love. Be ready for kindness to follow after you. I will call your name, but you must listen and you must answer my call. My voice may surprise you! You may not always understand what or why of where I am leading you, but as long as you stay close to me and continue to speak to me and listen for my answer and follow my Word, you will be safe. Come to me my child! Hear my voice and know my strength. I love you with an everlasting love that only I possess. Sit at my feet in prayer and wait for your blessing. It is coming soon. Do not be distracted by what others have or what I am doing in someone else’s life. Don’t pay attention to anyone else concerning your own path. I have made your path for you to follow. It is not for anyone else. It is for you and you only. No one else can be on your path. And therefore, you cannot be on theirs.

Morning by Morning, July 16 - "Rich Toward God"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name, as You set things right -- here in my heart and into my day.  ...

"(Jesus) told them a parable:  'The land of a rich man produced abundantly. And he thought to himself, 'What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?' Then he said, 'I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my good. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, and be merry.' But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves and are not rich toward God" (Luke 12:16-21).

In the eyes of the world, this many was very wise. He was resourceful and successful; he worked hard and now he was ready to play hard. He was living the dream, larger than life. His motto was "Go big or go home" and now he was building bigger barns for his bigger wealth to match his bigger head to boast in his heart about big self-made success he had made of his life.

But You said he was a fool. He was rich in the success and wealth of the world, but he was "not rich toward God" (v. 21). You said, "Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions" (v. 15). You weren't against his success; You were against his perspective. The focus of his success was to be on You -- the Source of his success and Your purpose for his success. You weren't against him being rich; You were against him not being rich toward God in the priority of his relationship with You above all else.

Lord, help me grow in my heart to be "rich toward God." Give me a right perspective with right priorities. Set me free from the wisdom of this world, and cultivate in me the wisdom of God. "For this wisdom of this world is foolishness with God" (1 Corinthians 3:19). "But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy" (James 3:17). Let me "not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of (my) mind, so that (I) may discern what is the will of God" (Romans 12:2).

Lord, how should I be "rich toward God?"  ...

It seems I hear You saying in my heart:  "My son, you are rich toward Me when you seek Me first above all else. Let Me be your priority. Let our relationship be your greatest stewardship of your time and resources. Then trust Me to take care of the rest with My guidance, My favor, and even My abundance."  ...

Yes, Lord. Give me grace to "Seek first the kingdom of God and (Your) righteousness, and all these things shall be added to (me) (Matthew 6:33 NKJV). "My God will satisfy every need of (mine according to (Your) riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that (I) ask or think, according to the power that works in (me), to (You) be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever" (Ephesians 3:20-21).

Father God, I thank You for every success You've given me, and the abundance of Your riches in so many ways. But help me remember You are the Source of my success and You are the Redeemer of every one of my many failures. I want my treasure to be stored up in heaven and not on earth -- "for where (my) treasure is, there (my) heart will be also" (Matthew 6:19-21). So I pray You would convict me and deliver me from foolishness and make me wise in Your ways and in Your sight. Whatever riches or abundance You may pour into my life for Your purposes, may I be found faithful to be "rich toward God" by the power of Your grace at work within me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray you will be rich toward God in your heart and in all He pours into your life for His purposes, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Are you going through a storm right now? Something so difficult or traumatic that you aren't sure you'll make it to tomorrow?

Don't give up hope. It often takes a storm to get our minds off our own plans and ways and onto God's greater plan—to realize there's a purpose for our life that is far better than our own. Our storms help draw us closer to God than anything else. So when we're facing a storm, let's remember three things as we learn to ride it with God, instead of letting it control and overwhelm us.

1) Nothing that happens to us happens by chance. Everything comes by way of a plan and purpose, no matter how chaotic or random it may appear to us at the moment. God is God and we aren't. It means he's in charge of the universe and has a purpose and a will that far exceeds our own. God uses both good and evil to accomplish his will. Whatever it is, good or bad, it has to pass first by the Creator of all things. We may never have an adequate answer in this life to our questions, “Why does God permit evil?” or “Why did this happen to me?,” but we do know that God intends to exploit evil to the full, to bring about his good purposes in a world of tornadoes, cancer, genocide, violence, human foolishness, financial reversal, divorce, and all the rest.

2) No matter how utterly our hopes and dreams have been devastated by a life storm, in the midst of the ruins we can see the foundation for hope and recovery. In the aftermath of a tornado or hurricane, it appears that nothing is left to salvage. But right there under the shards of glass, piles of rubble, and splinters of wood, is the foundation. Similarly, if we look closely enough at the crumbling ruins of our life, there in the destruction is the most obvious evidence of hope to rebuild—our foundation. Our immovable foundation is Jesus Christ and the ever-reliable mercy and grace of God. It isn't our faith that's so great, but God's loving kindness, which created our faith and brings it back again when it seems to have blown away. The foundation, the character of God, always remains the same.

3) Even though nothing in our lives is so secure it can't be taken away, there is nothing that can be taken that God can't restore to us. This really does sound impossible when taking into account the loss of a loved one, but this truth is at the heart of the Christian faith. It's called the resurrection. It means that even our life on this earth—which we know absolutely will end one day—can be restored. We come to believe in the reality of resurrection of our bodies and all of creation based on our daily life experiences. God knows that it's very hard for us to believe in what we can't see, so he gives us many little resurrections (the God-incidences) in our present life. He rescues us time after time in the most obvious ways. We can't possibly fail to recognize it as the work of some invisible, intelligent force, and can expect the same at the end of life.

So let's be a Storm Rider. Let us be absolutely confident that God will do what he loves to do and has done since the very beginning: to create for us a rescue ex nihilo (out of nothing). When there is no way out, no exit, no human hope for survival, God speaks into existence a way out and a way in—a way out of our plight and a way into a real, joyful life of fulfillment. This is the meaning of an exodus. As Pastor Chris Linzey says in his article, I'm Broken Inside, "May we all have that kind of faith that holds us close to God no matter what the situation or consequence."

And pray, even when your faith seems to have vanished. Wait for a full, God-designed exodus, not merely an exit from your problem. Keep on asking until something happens. If you don't know what to say, try this: My faith is at very low tide, Lord. I don't know how to trust you right now. I'm too weary and wounded even to believe that you're there. I really don't know if you are. And if you are, I'm not able to believe that you know my name or care about me. I'm sorry for all this, but right now it's the best I can do. Help me when I can't believe anything.

We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28
