The one verse that equals a college education

In my hunger for becoming a disciplemaker, I found Dallas Willard's The Great Omission written in 2006. He says "I often tell people I can give them one verse that is worth more than any college education, and it is Joshua 1:8. It will guarantee them the life that they only dimly dream to be possible."

 

I thought this was a great way for me to make disciples, especially since I work for a college!

 

So I made Joshua 1:8 my memory verse for this week.

"Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."

 

Do you have any thoughtprovoking verses like Joshua 1:8 that I can focus on this week?

Tom, may the Lord help & bless you in your efforts of hiding his word in your heart. It's reassuring to think God provides us with everything we need in carrying out his will. I also like Josh 1:9 as well. " 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Colossians 1:9-12 (The Message)

Keeping the old covenant Book of the Law in mind is not what new testament Christians need to be doing!  Under the new covenant, those who have received a new mind and heart have different thoughts:

 

Heb 3:1 ... holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus ...

 

Why?  2 Pet 1:3   gives us the answer:   His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him ...
