Week 1: Pray for the Arabian Peninsula during Ramadan
Join millions of Christians from around the world to pray for Muslims for 30 days during this very critical time of the year in the Islamic calendar. We love Muslims, and thus we want to plead with God that they will come to a saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Please find below for daily prayer topics for the week, as we pray for Muslims with a focus on the Arabian Peninsula
Day 1 (April 13) - Pray for the word to guide our prayers
Col 1:1-2 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father.
The Apostle Paul wrote Colossians to the church in Colossae around 60 AD. Letters at that time usually began with a greeting from the author to the recipient. Here, Paul introduces himself as an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God. He does not come on his own authority but on the authority of God himself in Christ.
Prayer: O God our Father, we thank you that you are our Heavenly Father who gives us grace and peace through Christ Jesus your Son. Thank you that you have given him all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18). Therefore, we pray in his name on this first day of Ramadan that the teaching of the apostles as found in scripture would be the foundation of our prayers and also the foundation of the local church in the AP. Grant us wisdom, knowledge, and insight in order to understand Colossians and to pray it faithfully on behalf of the AP and the entire Muslim world. O Holy Spirit, would you illumine our minds and guide us into all truth (John 16:13-15). Amen.
Day 2 (April 14)– Pray for a love for the Trinity
Muslims deny the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and accuse Christians of the grave sin of “shirk”, namely, assigning idolatrous partners to Allah. This violates the Islamic doctrine of “tawheed” that proclaims the indivisible oneness of Allah. Many Muslims believe that Christians worship three gods, that the Father had relations with Mary and Jesus was thus born. They also believe that the Holy Spirit is just an angel.
Prayer: O Blessed Trinity, we praise you that you are a precious unity in diversity. We thank you Father for giving us your Son Jesus as the Lamb of God who has taken away the sins of the world. And we thank you Holy Spirit for applying this salvation to our lives through faith. May the local Arabs in the AP acknowledge and worship you as One God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Break down all barriers Muslims have against you so that they will come to love the glory, brilliance, power, and love found within yourself. Blessed are you forever and ever! Amen.
Day 3 (April 15) – Pray for the different people groups in the AP
Praise God for the local believers in the AP! Although the numbers are small, it is growing as God has promised. The Arab people are the main indigenous group in the AP. They are the original Arab Bedouins of the desert. Mohammad, the founder of Islam, was one of them. However, there are minority people groups as well.
Prayer: O Lord of the nations, we thank you for your promise that all nations will be gathered to worship you as one church! Thank you for the hope we have laid up for us in heaven as brothers and sisters in one family. We pray that the word of truth, the gospel, would go to all the people groups of the AP. May it transform lives among the Zanzibari Omanis, the Baluchi, the Mahri, the Jebeli, and the Shuhooh. We also ask for Ephraphas’s to come out of these people groups to reach their own people, to be faithful ministers of Christ. May your church in the AP among these peoples bear much fruit and grow as it is in the whole world. Amen.
Day 4 (April 16) – A prayer for all local, AP believers
Col 1:9-12 is a wonderful and powerful prayer by Paul. Simply pray the same prayer for all the local believers in the AP. Change the pronoun “you” to “they”. Or if you know of a local believer, say his or her name. Pray this prayer for our brothers and sisters and rest assured that the Lord will bless the AP church out of his knowledge, wisdom, understanding, joy, patience, and glorious might.

Unreached Peoples, Least Reached Places: An Untold Story of Lostness in America

by JD Payne

- March 3rd, 2014

I am delighted to share that Unreached Peoples, Least Reached Places: An Untold Story of Lostness in America is now available to download as a pdf.  It’s brief, about fifty pages. That is intentional.  You can read it quickly.

The pastors with The Church at Brook Hills are always asking how we can best equip our faith family for the work of the ministry (Eph 4:11-12).  Part of shepherding others to reach the nations requires painting a picture of the realities of lostness.  Therefore, I wrote this short ebook for our people.

Unreached Peoples, Least Reached Places is written to cast a vision of reality in the United States, and to offer some practical steps to move us along in disciple making and church multiplication.  We know much about lostness in other parts of the world; we know little about it in our backyard.

One of the convictions that we hold as a faith family is to give away many om advancement.  With this in mind, I am releasing this book to you.  I pray that it will be a blessing to you and your ministry.

So…

Download your copy.

If you do, tell others to get a copy.  Spread the word, far and wide.

Take it. Give it away.  Use it for leading your church to the nations in this nation and beyond.  If you do, tell others to get a copy.  Spread the word, far and wide.

Join us in praying for America to understand LOSTNESS right here.

Are you a new Baby Boomer grandparent or a grandparent looking for resources and/or suggestions to grandparent with a purpose? I am excited to share some resources and suggestions with you that will help you grandparent with a purpose.

9651007066?profile=originalFor the last five years, I have had the privilege to be the National Prayer Coordinator of Christian Grandparenting Network (CGN). CGN is devoted to challenging Christian grandparents to live intentionally as representatives of Christ for future generations. It is committed to providing a network of resources and opportunities for grandparents to have powerful opportunities for inter-generational dialogue to strengthen grandparent-grandchild relationships and spiritual growth. Go to www.christiangrandparenting.net

As the Prayer Coordinator for CGN, I have developed two prayers cards: Scriptures to Pray for Your Grandchildren and Suggestions to Pray for Your Grandchildren in School: Preschool, Elementary, Teenagers, and College Students.

God has also given me the opportunity to write the book 9651007270?profile=originalGRANDPARENTING WITH A PURPOSE: Effective Ways to Pray for your Grandchildren. The book challenges grandparents to stand in the gap for their grandchildren by living a godly example and being their prayer warrior. It provides creative suggestions for prayers based on Scriptures, and helpful tools, utilizing everything from cell phones to photo prayer journals. This book is available on this website.

Last year CGN proclaimed the second Sunday in September as Grandparents Day of Prayer, coinciding with National Grandparents Day designated by a Senate proclamation in 1978. It is a way of engaging grandparents to unite in an intentional day of prayer for their grandchildren. Many participants reported how they were blessed as they united in prayer with other grandparents with a common cause. There are only 31 days until the upcoming Grandparents Day of Prayer on Sunday, September 9, 2012. I want to challenge you to participate with grandparents all other the world for an intentional day of prayer for the next generations.

It has been exciting for me to invite grandparents to participate in small groups called Grandparents@Prayer (G@P) to pray for their grandchildren. Just as Esther stood in the gap for her people, the Jews, when they were threatened, likewise grandparents can stand in the gap with prayer for their grandchildren today. G@P groups are meeting in many areas of the United States and England praying together for their grandchildren on a regular basis. Anyone desiring information or would like to become a part of a group may go to the CGN website mentioned above or email me at info@grandparentingwithapurpose.com.

A new book for grandparents, NOT ON OUR WATCH! A Call To Radical Grandparenting For Turbulent Times, written by Cavin Harper, Founder, and Executive Director of CGN, is available at www.christiangrandparenting.net.

CGN recently started a weekly radio program9651007087?profile=original Not on My Watch hosted by Cavin Harper, Executive on radio station KRDO (Colorado Springs) 105.5 FM & 1240 AM at 7:30 A.M. MST. If you would like to listen to my recent interview on the radio program on June 17, or the other weekly programs go to www.christiangrandparenting.net podcast link.

CGN also provides many other resources for grandparents such as weekly blogs on their website by Cavin Harper, and me, GrandCamps in Colorado, mission trips for grandparents and grandchildren, seminars, and conferences for grandparents.

I enjoy my grandchildren very much and God has given me a passion to intentionally pray for my grandchildren, especially in the moral and spiritually deprived world we live in today. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be a part in a grandparenting ministry to influence our future generations for Jesus Christ.

If you have any questions or would like to contact me please email me at info@grandparentingwithapurpose.com

Reach Unreached People through Prayer

MARIETTA, Ga. (BP) -- With both anticipation and nostalgia I listened to Bryant Wright, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, tell how he and Tom Elliff, the International Mission Board's new president, each had been led by the Spirit of God to challenge Southern Baptist churches to embrace the world's remaining 3,800 unengaged, unreached people groups at the 2011 SBC annual meeting in Phoenix. While many think embracing a people group will entail an immediate trip overseas, quite often the first step is commitment followed by much prayer. The nostalgia at the SBC meeting came because in 1989 Bill O'Brien, a vice president of the then-Foreign Mission Board, visited Johnson Ferry Baptist Church to talk to our pastor, Bryant Wright. I remember being called into the conference room to hear the discussion because we had established a focused prayer ministry a few years earlier and I was the prayer coordinator. If this commitment was made, the prayer ministry would help carry the responsibilities to ensure church-wide participation. The more I heard, the more intently I listened. This was no ordinary prayer request. We were looking at committing to a people group that was not only unreached, but also unreachable due to the "Iron Curtain" in place at the time. This was an opportunity to be stretched into believing that God was up to something and was inviting us to join Him in prayer. With growing excitement, I agreed to do whatever it would take to help get everyone praying for our new group. When we got our people group assignment, we couldn't even pronounce their name, let alone spell it. So we got out a world map to find where these people lived. While they seemed strange at first, over time and with faithful installments of information from the mission board about our group, we became more familiar with them.At least once a month as we received information, we printed a bulletin insert and took a special time during worship services to pray for our people group. We prayed for them around the clock in our 24-hour prayer room. And we began to discuss them and pray in our Sunday School classes. The World Day of Prayer and Fasting for World Evangelization on June 1, 1990, focused our people group, the Kirghiz people of Asia. We were praying but we were not alone, and it was exciting to realize that adopting a people group is indeed a "group" project. When we responded to our God-sized assignment, He was simultaneously calling out others as well. With all the extraordinary prayer God was drawing from people around the world, He granted the fall of the Soviet Union. That new open door allowed for an exploratory trip to be taken from Johnson Ferry in 1991. Groups began to go, including medical teams to host clinics and business training teams looking for open doors for the Gospel. By the fall of that year, interns from Kyrghizstan were invited and brought to Atlanta to have hands-on training with business men and women in our church. With all this interaction, our people group really became tangible to our church and God opened many doors for the Gospel to be shared.Fast forward to 2011, and the ripple effect is still being felt in Kyrghizstan where indigenous, growing churches are reaching their own country for Christ. We are so glad we stepped out in faith to pray for what God wanted us to do and obeyed His call to adopt and partner together to reach an unreached people group. Just the other day at lunch a church friend told me that two Kirghiz women, both Christians now studying in the United States, came to Christ on one of our mission trips to their people group. They are eternally grateful that we cared about them. Now with this new call to the SBC, our Sunday Bible study class is praying about embracing a people group. We are large enough to be a small church and interested enough to trust God to do it again!I hope you, too, will pray about embracing an unengaged, unreached people group and see what God will do through you and your church.--30--Elaine Helms was the national prayer coordinator on staff at the North American Mission Board from 2000–10.
