Wow! Thanks for sharing. What an amazing example of how God uses prayer as the key to overcome any and every thing we face in life. My father was left with 6 girls to raise after my mother passed away in 1979. He too said that God did not want him to remarry because He wanted no interference in raising his children to pray and serve God.
I commend you for following God's leading. We are all grown now as well. We are serving God and teaching others the very things our father and mother taught us about our heavenly Father.
