  • “OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN ”

          A Biblical Prayer

By Pastor J. Michael Dixon; ©2007

Father God in heaven, your entire earthly family, the church, derives its name from you. You are all knowing and aware of all that we need. Yet you still want us to make our needs known to you in prayer. I am so glad that you love to hear from us! Father, I am delighted to speak with you now.

    • You are THE SOURCE of everything desirable   or needed. Every good and perfect gift comes down to us from heaven, loving Lord. You are God the Father who created all of the lights in the heavens. We look up to you for our needs, whether they are physical or spiritual. The heavens and the mountains are not the source of our aid. You, the Creator of the universe, are our provider, THE SOURCE.

    • You are also THE FATHER of all who have trusted in the Savior. It amazes us that we can call you, “Our Father.” What people on the planet are so favored? We sinners have been made saints through your love and grace. Thank you for so loving us world dwellers. You are OUR FATHER.

    • You are still IN HEAVEN and we are on earth. Keep us holy through your truth, your Word. We would keep your great and holy name special and revered. Where so many people don’t care about your reputation and honor, we would maintain the angels’ attitude: you are holy, holy, holy. Please enable us to keep your name holy in our hearts, intentions, attitudes, motives, plans and thoughts. God, you are IN HEAVEN. We lift your name on high.

    • We anticipate the soon coming of YOUR KINGDOM. We long for Christ’s appearing from heaven to gather your children and to inaugurate the millennium. Holy King, we are sick of all the sin. Everyone does what he pleases. Crime abounds, people cheat, spouses are unfaithful, and children are neglected and abused. Every imagination of peoples’ hearts is only evil, continually. Lord, when will your second advent be?  Please, Lord Jesus, come quickly. May YOUR KINGDOM come!

    • Father, YOUR WILL is good, pleasing and perfect. We want your will to be done. It is continually done by the angelic servants and armies in glory land. In heaven, all is well. Your face is seen. There is peace, perfect peace; happy conversations; joyous worship; jobs faithfully done; prayers offered; smiles all around. One can merely imagine how great heaven will be. But we can seek to implement heaven now by obeying YOUR WILL on earth.

    • God please give us THE FOOD WE NEED today, Thanks for waking us up every morning. You give us strength to work and, better, the will to serve. We don’t ask for riches, though they would be nice. Just make us grateful and content. The satisfied soul is truly blessed. If we have food, shelter and clothing may we be content. Thank you for giving us THE FOOD WE NEED.

    • Thank you for the gracious gift of mercy. You forgive us all of our sins. Bless the Lord, o my soul. Please FORGIVE ME TODAY. Help me stay current with your mercies, since they are new every morning. And sometimes we need to extend your kindness to others. Oh, may we be forgiving toward all those who have sinned against us. He who has been forgiven much should love much. May I so conduct my life. LORD, FORGIVE!

    • Finally, Father, please help me NOT TO SIN today. You deserve all glory. May we believers not rob you of recognition by falling short of the glory of God. Help us not to live for ourselves. The devil is strong, tricky and experienced. And our hearts tend to deceive us. So please help us NOT TO SIN, and rescue us from all evil. Give us the victory through our Master, Jesus Christ. In this way you will get the honor and the glory you so wonderfully deserve. Amen.

“Please pray for me as I battle Alzheimer’s disease. That I may still be a man of prayer, and have the Word of God hidden in my heart and accessible to my mind.”

  • Yes, this prayer is lifechanging. Thank you, Pastor Kevin. I passed url of your video on to my daugther-in-law.

Years ago I read Helmut Thielicke's book "The Prayer that Spans the World: Sermons on the Lord’s Prayer" and my life was never the same again. Praise the Lord.
