  • When I asked my wife the same question, what are we to watch for,

    She said "Answers to your prayers", seems obvious to me, now that she said it!  :)

    However, Phil, I never considered your reply, and you are right,

    Who, What, Where, When, Why, How - Watch for signs of the Holy Spirit! Great answer.

    I wonder how much I miss because I am always "in my own little world"

    My reading/research of the text leads me to this: 'Spend much time together in the place of payer..." so being "watchful" must include the corporate discernment of the who-what-where-when-why-how the Spirit is leading us to pray in this moment or season.

    Too much of our praying begins with our thoughts of who or what we want to pray for, as if we are informing God of something he does not know.

    Watchful, to me, is synonymous with listening-before-listing (our needs or requests).
