91 (3)

M, is waiting in the line at Starbucks while his sister and mother shop, and he allows a new friend to treat him for his cup of tea.  He says with a smile that now that the university has started its summer break, he is used as the permanent driver for the ladies in his house. During the conversation he speaks of a wish for a chance to continue studies in another country.  "More time for me, and less demands to the tasks/duties that are upon a young man, who is part of a large family with lots of family obligations".

As the conversations turns to his ideas about sin, and he is surprised to hear some stories of the Bible. He learns that some of his prophetic heroes are  involved in sinful behaviors. He makes a striking comment, "Am I perhaps being taught the wrong information?" The normal response would have been to reject a different opinion, but he seemed to be willing to consider others.  Since that conversation, via what's app he has received some of those biblical stories so he can read them for himself.   Trusting that this was an encounter arranged by God, please pray for M that he will respond to God's call to follow Him.

Pray for lady who is "liked minded" and found her husband reading the Book. He doesn't know that his wife believes and says he is not a follower. Pray that the Lord will reveal Himself to this man as he reads the Scriptures. Pray that he will believe and that this couple will grow together in faith.

Life in camps for displaced people and refugees can be very difficult as people deal with high temperatures in the summer, poor health and against corruption. Pray for the safety in all three. Pray that God would bring believers to minister to the people and that a "person of peace" will emerge.

Pray for young ladies who have gone through trauma during the war and are sharing their stories with those who love the Savior. Pray that as they listen to Truth from the Word, they will hear what the Father wants to share with them and be healed.

Pray for the new believers that they will know the hope God gives and be strengthened by the Holy Spirit. Pray that they will hunger for God's Word, desire to grow and share the Good News with others.

Pray for believers who are persecuted by family and others, that they will know the love of God more deeply.  Pray that God would surround them with a new family of believers who will love them and support them emotionally as well as physically.

Pray for those in Saudi Arabia and around the world, to know that true security in face of terrors of suicide bombing lies in knowing the One who promises true eternal life.
"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.... his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.  You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. - Psalm 91:1-6

DAY FOURTEEN:

VERSES:
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.(Psalm 91, KJV)

PRAYER:
Dear Father Yahweh.
Thank you for giving us the promise of Psalm 91. Please be with us that we may abide in Your secret place and not stray from the narrow path that leads to eternal life and salvation through Your Son Yeshua. We understand that ONLY in abiding in You that we will have protection and promise given in Psalm 91.
Though these times are very dark and wicked they are a reminder that the return of Your Holy Son Yeshua is near. We need your protection Lord God. The enemy is upon us and we need to be living and walking and doing all for Your Kingdom. We pray for a great revival during these last days that more will turn to you.
I pray protection over our families and everyone of your children. Judgment is upon the wicked of this world and this nation oh God. Please bless your children, keep us safe, and help us lead many to You through Your Son, Yeshua. We acknowledge and proclaim that Yeshua is the ONLY way to You Father God. We thank you for sending Your only son as a sacrifice for our sins that we may have eternal life if we acknowledge Him as our savior and become born again. Please let us strive to be like Yeshua and let more of our worldly ways fall aside, that we may be overcomers for the Kingdom of Heaven.
We pray this in Jesus Holy Name. Amen.

God, Our Refuge and Fortress

“I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.’”  —Psalm 91:2-3

Dictators overthrown. Political turmoil. Earthquakes. Unexpected nuclear disaster. All eyes linger on Japan’s nuclear crisis as both sides of the Pacific recover from a rush to stock up on potassium iodine tablets. What was once available for less than $10 per packet quickly shot past $500 in one online bid to prevent radiation sickness.

And while pill suppliers reported shortages, the World Health Organization issued a statement urging calm.

Could there be a more fitting context to be reminded of Psalm 91:2, the National Day of Prayer’s theme verse for 2011? The Bible urges calm with this life-saving message: “I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” The psalmist correctly understood that during uncertain times, we can count on God alone. Even His Son experienced political upheaval and economic uncertainty during His life on earth, so the Lord knows all about the tension of living in a hysteria-charged world.

Psalm 91 reminds us that it is God who saves us from “the fowler’s snare”—outward attack; and He also saves us from the “deadly pestilence” —inward attack. The passage provides 20 statements of what God will do to protect us, with only one conditional statement in verse 9: “If you say, ‘the LORD is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.” The word “dwell,” ownah, in Hebrew is significant. It is used to describe intimacy in a marriage—not a casual dwelling, but one of honesty, vulnerability, and commitment.

Our Founding Fathers understood this concept of dwelling in the presence of the Most High. Struggling to construct a country at a time of great uncertainty, they voted that our lawmakers would pray every day before beginning each session, additionally setting in place a National Day of Prayer on July 20, 1775. Today, in our uncertain times, let’s intercede that the Church would kneel and embrace this same posture of prayer, dwelling in this promise: “He is our refuge and fortress; it is in God that we trust!”
