    • Alan,

To reflect and answer your question, please let me share from my own personal experience.  If found that there are times we need to be quiet and stand as did the priest did when Israel entered the Promised Land.  Joshua 3:8.  I too have been told to stand.  What happened when I did?  It was a time of study, preparation, and seeking for me.  It make that story short—during that period of study and preparation, I was also going through a time of personal cleansing, and being challenged by the Lord.  In time the Lord opened up doors with small items, like teaching Sunday School, or writing a ‘Prayer Minute’.  I also follow the advice in the Bible in Habakkuk 2: 3 which said to write the vision down.  I recorded many nuggets the Lord taught me.  Since then, one thing has led to another, and the ministry that God has given me is expanding—not facts but steadily.   As time went on, I found myself looking into new areas that can further facilitate what Jesus has called me to do.

During this time, we do want to move forward, but God is preparing us for future ministry.

Indeed you are correct, that it is necessary at times to stand or to be still and wait on the Lord.  During that period, the Lord will help you tune your spiritual ears to hear Him.  Prayer is definitely a two way street.
