What Christmas is About

Merry Christmas

A Christmas Thought

JEHOVAH OSENU Lord our Maker   עֹשַׂ֔יִךְ יְהוָה

Psalm 95:6 (KJV)  O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. The Hebrew name for Lord our Maker in this verse is Jehovah Osenu,  עֹשַׂ֔יִךְ יְהוָה.

Three wise men made a difficult journey following a star to kneel and worship before Jesus and give Him gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.  They knew this baby was to be King of the Jews.

This King of the Jews, was called Jehovah Osenu in Psalms 95:6.  The letter meaning of the Hebrew letters spelling the names give an ‘Ancient Meaning’ of this name.  It is:  A secure deed that is done and revealed, secured by the nail that upholds life.   This deed that is referred to, is the work of Jesus on the Cross at Calvary and the covering that the shedding of His blood provided for us, making a way to remove the old (Hebrews 9:22) and to usher in the new.  Indeed, it is an act of love  that brought Jesus to be born of a virgin.  It is through that love and the ultimate love (John 15:13)—the death of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary, and His resurrection that life is available to us, and to be a part of God’s Family.  This love has made Eternal life available to us by simply trusting Jesus to be our Savior.  (John 3:16)

During this Christmas season, let’s remember that Jesus came for us because He loved us.

Prayer Focus—Thank you Lord for coming to earth that we may have life abundantly by believing in you—In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

--Christmas gives us the opportunity to share what Christ has done for us.  Let us all pray that we will have the opportunity, and that this Christmas many will put their trust in Jesus as their Savior.
