Redeemed
John 1:9, Eph 1:7, II Cor 5:17
In all our turmoil and smoke of the battle, we need to stop and meditate on the principles of God’s word and let them give us direction. Our Lord is in the business of redeeming people. (Eph 1:7) There are many who hate former President Trump—BUT the Lord actually loves Him because God made him. He was God’s appointed leader at the time!
Many who hate him do not know that the Lord can redeem him and make him a new creature. (II Cor 5:17) Perhaps our message should not be the religious right, or our rights and guarantees under the constitution. Those issues are very important, but in this time of turmoil, and smoke of the battle, perhaps we should ask the Lord to redeem us from ourselves and help us to look to Him. In doing so, it is important that we put all of ourselves on “the altar”—our thoughts, our perspectives, and other areas that drive us. We need to put our sin on the altar in submission to God, asking his forgiveness. I John 1:9.
Then, and only then, after our surrendering to the Lord, we should find a way to truly minister to those around us who may think differently than us. In doing so, with genuine true ministering, because we care, it may open the door for God’s redemptive love to start changing people.
There is a need for us to seek humbly seek the Lord. It is possible that our responses and actions may have been a source adding to this turmoil. That may have happened because some of us have not really cared to minister to others. We have run after “causes that seem right”, but what about the souls that are around us that are hurting and in need of His redemption, and finding His love, through the shed blood of Jesus Christ?
Consider meditating on the words of the hymn, ‘Redeemed’, (see below). Take some time to meditate on them. It speaks of what God wants, which is to redeem us, and make us new creatures in Christ.
‘Redeemed’ - words by Fanny Crosby -
- Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child, and forever, I am.
Refrain:
Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
His child, and forever, I am.
- I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long;
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song. [Refrain] - I know I shall see in His beauty
The King in whose law I delight,
Who lovingly guardeth my footsteps,
And giveth me songs in the night. [Refrain]
May God bless us as we take time to stop and listen to His Holy Spirit minister to our souls. God’s desire is to redeem man from his sins. He can and will do it if we turn to him!
--an additional thought. Nebuchadnezzar was driven from his throne, but the Lord redeemed him. Daniel 4:32-34. There is always “Hope” as we humbly seek God’s will and pray for others!
