Just curious as to how many of you miss the Discipleship Journal magazine?  I have almost every issue from number 25 to the last one they put out.  I have read and re-read them many times, and have even used many of the articles as Bible study lessons.

I was thinking of getting the dvd rom they have for sale that has all of the issues on it...but I guess in some ways I am very "old school", as I like to have a magazine to hold and look at.

Not a serious discussion here, just more of a "wondering if I was the only one" discussion.

  • I miss it as well.
  • My wife and I both loved it. I think the DVD rom would be a great investment, and I would get if we could afford it. I'm sure it's searchable by topic, which would be VERY helpful in sermon and Bible study prep.

  • I do miss it also and often read DJ articles online in the archives. Guess I'm with you in the "old school" mindset of preferring to have a magazine in my hands instead of being bound by the technology of a computer for reading these articles.
  • I agree with you Beve!

  • Yeah, I miss it -- and I have been disappointed with the "replacement" subscription to Bible Study Magazine. It's not a bad magazine, but the focus is totally different. Although it is intended for those in full-time leadership, if you have a ministry mindset I think you will find that Leadership Journal can fill the void. • I miss the print magazine also. I subscribed to it for many years. I guess it is just too expensive to put out a print publication.
  • We're working on a way to provide access to archived articles on this site. Stay tuned. I think this could be a great resource!

  • That's a great idea.  I've tried searching for specific articles and can't seem to find them.  My favorite part of the magazine was the last page where writings from some ancient church father was included.  I enjoy "ancient" wisdom.

  • I miss it. I have the electronic version of it for my LOGOS software but I wish they would have kept it going.
  • I miss it as well. It is difficult to find a suitable replacement for DJ magazine, with its focus on quality and personal growth. I live in Norway, and there are not many good alternatives as far as I know. I would welcome any suggestions to which magazines (that ships internationally) that could be a suitable replacement?
