While this is my first (and hopefully only) Social Network that I have joined. I am getting it figured out. How about you? Any questions or thoughts you want to throw out there re social networking. I believe that this can be a very helpful tool for encouraging prayer and I am very glad that NavPress has done this.
Okay, I did it. I am on Facebook. Now I have to get back to this one, and figure out how to continually link the two, making them both a ministry opportunity. Would love your prayers. By the way, the only reason I joined Facebook is because my 25 y/o son asked me to be
I just had a great experience! I clicked on the "Community Life" link to the right and then clicked on the "Click here to learn more" 3 paragraphs down. It was very enlightening. Won't help you pray but it gave me a good lay of the land here.
Interesting point you make, Mark. I think we naturally would assume all people on this site are potential friends for the claiming. There are so many good people to choose from. Mostly I have asked people based on their location and blog/comments. I have chosen people who live far away because I do not travel much and to think I have friends in far places makes me happy and is sort of like vicarious travel. But you live in my general vicinity so I guess that is a good reason, also, to be friends. We have the Varsity in common! Blessings to my brother in Christ!
But you see, I still don't get it (I know there is a sermon illustration here). I don't understand, as it relates to social networking the roll of friends. Do I want more friends? Do I just want everything on "My Page" to be accessible to everyone anyway, which it is? How do friends interact with me differently on a social network than non-friends. Just writing that (non-friends) goes against the grain of how I am wired. I want everyone to be my friend...Oh I'm so confused...I think the Lord had social networking in mind when He said, through Paul, "Pray without ceasing." He knew there was going to be some poor guy out there like me, 2000 years from when it was penned that would need to keep praying about friends.
Hey! I got it! I need friends to pray for me, so that I would understand the need for friends...Alright, this is just deteriorating. I have 3 friends, I;m excited about that!!!
Badges, I don't get it? When you go to the Main page, what is the "Badge" on the right hand column? I am sure we are just talking about a definition that I haven't figured out yet, but why does it say "Get Badge" and then what am I going to get? It's not something I pin on my lapel, right?
Amen for the designers, but I am still trying to figure out things like, adding a comment, directly because of yours, doesn't go to you, but to the blog, right? So the only way to see a response from me is to send you a message. Time / process / keep doing it.
Still learning! Welcome as we all share in the blessings of this opportunity to grow our faith in Jesus and experience the power of prayer (thanks to the good efforts of the designers of this network backed by the One true God, of course)!
