Blogging Tips

You can do it! You can have a successful blog and enjoy every minute of it.

Here are some basics before you get started. What is a blog? In simple terms, it's an online journal of something you are passionate about and allow others to see and comment on. Different than a discussion which is meant for people to interact with each other, a blog is where you allow people to interact with you. You allow people to get close to you and be a part of your world.

As part of your community building strategy, a successful blog is one that effectively generates traffic back into your community on a regular basis. Think of it as a trigger mechanism that a member receives in their email and are motivated to click when viewed...and in so doing re-engage with the community. As a re-engagement mechanism, you want to highlight any new activity in your community that you want to bring attention to and encourage participation. It could be a direct link to an event page, a new group to sign up to, or an important discussion. Your blog is the way to not simply bring people back into your community but become engaged with those things that are important there.

In this context, the frequency of your blogs and clicking the "share with network" link should be done no more than 4x's a month so as to remain in good standing with your community members.
