Praying James 4:1-3

Beginning with the month of May, we began praying The Book of James on the Ranger Joe’s God and Country Show .

James 4:1-3

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

1 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Today's Prayer

Lord, Your word convicts us of our motives. Forgive us Father, as a nation and as Your church for letting our “cravings” be our motive. Your word says we “...do not have because [we] do not ask…” and when we do pray, we “...ask with wrong motives…” Oh Lord, renew our hearts, renew our motives, in Your Son’s name we pray, amen.

Psalm 119:169-176

Key Word                Praise

Today’s Prayer

Father, we, as a nation and as Your church have wandered away from You, like lost sheep. Find us, seek us Lord (Psalm 119:176) and cause us to praise You, cause praise to flow from our lips, and let it be because of Your word (Psalm 119:173). Father, we have turned aside from You and have become corrupt (Psalm 14:3). Oh Lord forgive us. Lord, we know that not a single one of us is righteous before You (Romans 3:10). By Your Spirit Lord, cause us to have a renewed hope in You (Romans 8:9)

Psalm 119:161-168

Key Word                Stand

Today’s Prayer

Lord, thank You that I can stand and rejoice (Psalm 119:162) even though the evil one harasses me (Psalm 119:161). Father thank You for the armor, especially the shoes Lord, that allow us, in the midst of spiritual battle to stand in peace (Ephesians 6:15). Father forgive us as a nation and as Your church for thinking that we stand, on our own, because of ANYTHING “good” inside of us. Father, bring us to our knees, so that we will hate and abhor ALL falsehood in ourselves and then Lord, change our heart to love Your instructions (Psalm 119:163).

Praying James 3:13-18

Beginning with the month of May, we began praying The Book of James on the Ranger Joe’s God and Country Show .

James 3:13-18

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Wisdom from Above

13 Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Today's Prayer

Father, thank You, for the clear teaching from Your word is that there is a difference in the wisdom from You and the wisdom from the world. Your wisdom is pure, peace-loving, gentle and cultivates peace, but the wisdom that is not from You denies the truth, brags, is bitter and selfish. Lord, forgive us as a nation and as Your church for demonstrating to the world the wisdom that is earthly, unspiritual, and even demonic. And cause us Lord to show our works by good conduct, with Your wisdom’s gentleness. In the name of Your loving Son, amen.

Praying James 3:3-12

Beginning with the month of May, we began praying The Book of James on the Ranger Joe’s God and Country Show .

James 3:3-12

Lord, we all know this passage, how Your servant James likened our tongue to a horse’s bit, a ship’s rudder and a spark that ignites a forest. We praise You with it, and we curse men with it. Lord, we know that these things should not be this way. Father forgive us as a nation, and as Your church for pouring out sweetness on Sunday and bitterness the rest of the week. Father, cause us to be Your children, that can be counted on, that will be stable Godly men and women every day of the week. In the power of the One who does this in our life, Your Son, amen.

Psalm 119:153-160

Key Word                Rescued

Today’s Prayer

You Lord, are the God who rescues us from suffering, You deliver us from our affliction (Psalm 119:153). Father, forgive us as a nation and as Your church, for being wicked, not bothering with Your decrees, not seeking Your word, not seeking You, and causing ourselves to be far from being rescued (Psalm 119:155). Renew in us a pure heart oh Lord, and renew a right spirit within us (Psalm 51:10). Your Son made it so clear to us, that the ones to be blessed are the ones with a pure heart (Matthew 5:8). Thank You Lord.

Psalm 119:145-152

Key Word                Cried

Today’s Prayer

Father, my hope for our nation and Your church is that we would cry out to You with all of our heart, all of the time...then You will answer us...and we will obey Your decrees (Psalm 119:145). Father, no one wants to stay up all night anymore, meditating on your word, on Your promises (Psalm 119:148), forgive us Father. Lord, we are like the lawless that are all around us, in both Your church and in this nation, when we live far from Your instructions (Psalm 119:150), forgive us Lord and revive us, by  Your regulations and Your ordinances (Psalm 119:149).

Praying James 3:1-2

Beginning with the month of May, we are praying The Book of James on the Ranger Joe’s God and Country Show .James 3:1-2

Lord, Your word is so clear, “We all stumble in many ways” and yet, You call teachers to a higher standard, to a higher accountability. Forgive us Lord, as a nation and as Your church for not taking seriously that higher standard. Cause us Lord to start now, immediately being mature people who take responsibility for our actions. By the power of Your Son, in whose name we pray, amen.

Praying James 2:14-26

Beginning with the month of May, we are praying The Book of James on the Ranger Joe’s God and Country Show .James 2:14-26

Oh Father, as we read this famous passage we admit that there has been much confusion and disagreement over what James meant. Forgive us Father, as a nation and as Your church, for not looking at this kind of a passage with the balance of the rest of scripture. Lord, we have allowed extremes to flourish, both on the grace side (so sin is okay), and on the works side (so we have lost the meaning of grace). Lord, give us, thru Your word, the proper balance in our lives and cause us to be called Your friend, just like You called Abraham Your friend. In the name of Your Son, who did the work of dying on the cross, and had faith in You to raise Him from the dead, we pray, amen.

O Lord, You are righteous (Psalm 119:137). Forgive us Father, as a nation and as Your church, for only giving You lip service when we acknowledge Your righteousness. For we admit that Your testimonies are righteous and that You are completely trustworthy (Psalm 119:138)...and yet we worry. Father, cause us to realize that anything we worry about, we have put ahead of trusting You and ahead of Your righteousness. And cause us Lord to find joy in Your commands, and no longer worry, especially when pressure and stress bear down upon us (Psalm 119:143).

Praying James 2:1-13

Beginning with the month of May, we are praying The Book of James on the Ranger Joe’s God and Country Show .

James 2:1-13

Lord, forgive us as a church and a nation for discriminating in areas that we should not. Forgive us for looking at what the world calls lovely and not desiring the unlovely. Lord You have told us to seek ALL of the lost, not just some of the lost. Thank You for Your word Lord, as it is often convicting. And cause us Father to keep that which is prescribed in scripture, namely, to love our neighbors as ourselves, for that is when we do well. In the great Name of Your Son, amen

Lord, thank You for being my guide, for showing me mercy, which You do for all of us who Love You (Psalm 119:132). Father, thank You for making my feet to be like hind’s feet, allowing me to stand on the heights, for You are my strength (Habakkuk 3:19). Forgive us as a nation and as Your church Lord for being lukewarm (Revelation 3:16), for not panting after Your word or longing for Your word (Psalm 119:131). My New Book is Printing this Week

DailyPrayers-Vol1-2012-Cover120wide.png?width=120

Praying Psalm 119

I have written a number of books, but this is the first one (since Prayer Made Alive) that I have had peace about printing. I believe this will be an excellent tool for you to cause Psalm 119 to really come alive to you.

Check out the Title Page (below) as there are a couple of appendices that you will find both encouraging and, well, fun, believe it or not.

We'll see what happens with the other books.

From the Table of Contents:

As this ministry moves further and further in the direction that I believe God is leading it, I find myself more and more burdened to help folks learn to pray for both others and themselves. And it is not praying for blessings, rather, it is learning to pray for a properly broken spirit, accompanied by a contrite heart.

As you read these prayers I trust that the passages will come alive as you make them YOUR prayers. We, as a church, are great at shallow
repentance. But I believe that this is a call to embrace deep repentance.

I am grateful for two things that happened in early December 2011. First, Chaplain Paul Voorhees and Dr. Joe Coley of the Ranger Joe’s God and Country Show challenged me with a daily radio prayer show. And second, the Lord and I visited together in Toccoa Georgia at the Georgia Baptist Conference Center where He and I fought over Him teaching me brokenness…Praise the Lord, I lost, and these prayers reflect that.

Praying James 1:26-27

Beginning with the month of May, we are praying The Book of James on the Ranger Joe’s God and Country Show .
James 1:26-27

Lord, we thank You for Your word. It so often puts it’s fingers all over our life, both encouraging and challenging us. Today’s verses remind us of what is important to You, and challenges what we usually think is so important. Father, forgive us as a nation and as Your church for  thinking that we can be religious and not control, or even take responsibility for our tongue. Father, cause us to humble ourselves and seek ways that we can experience pure and undefiled religion, before You God, by taking care of those who cannot take care of themselves and by keeping ourselves unstained from the world.

  Psalm 119:121-128Key Word                RescueToday’s Prayer

Lord, we all face times when we wonder where You are, and we strain to see Your salvation in our situation (Psalm 119:123). Lord, thank You for the promise of rescue every time I am tempted to sin...if I would just take the way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). Forgive us as a nation and as Your church Lord, for rejecting what we have heard, for rejecting Your word, causing our prayers to be an abomination (Proverbs 28:9). Each of Your commands are right. Teach us to hate and turn from every false way (Psalm 119:128)

Making Prayer Come Alive

This week I was reading in Prayer Connect ,
issue four 2012, pg 28

God has moved powerfully across Indonesia, establishing more than 1,100 prayer networks with five million intercessors, even though this is the largest Muslim nation in the world.

It got me thinking about our churches in the Georgia Baptist Convention (GBC). Are we willing to invest time in prayer? I'm counting on you to do so between now and the Annual Mtg.

You might also forward link No. 2 below to others to sign up for these weekly emails.

This morning begins the third week of praying for the GBC Annual Meeting.

Since the site is now up live you have a few links:

  1. This Week's Prayer Sheet: http://www.ctmprayer.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Prayers-Wk03-May14-May18-Psalm119.17-24.pdf

Finally, to print this attachment in it's optimal size, use legal size paper, 8 1/2 x 14. A friend printed it on 11x17 which he said worked well.

As usual, please, Please, PLEASE feel free to give us your feedback.

Praying James 1:19-25

Beginning with the month of May, we are praying The Book of James on the Ranger Joe’s God and Country Show .

James 1:19-25

Lord, we desire to be people who are blessed in what we do. Yet we too often come to church, realize how You want us to live and then Monday morning we wake like a person who forgets what kind of person he was supposed to be, forgetting the good works You want us to do. Father, forgive us as a nation and as Your church for being, what James calls, "forgetful hearers." Father, cause us to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger,  for our anger and indeed ANY of our sin, does not accomplish Your righteousness. Father, cause us to demonstrate that not just on Sundays, but even during the week, we rid ourselves of all moral filth and evil, ALL sin. Confident that we are blessed in what we do, we pray in Your Son's name, amen.

Psalm 119:113-120

Key Word                Sustains

Today’s Prayer

Oh Lord, one of Your great promises is that You sustain us, that You rescue us (Psalm 119:116-117). Father, forgive us as a nation and as Your church for being so dissatisfied with the safety You bring us. It is because we are not content, as Paul reminds us (Philippians 4:11). Lord cause us to see that Your promises mean that we can live, without our hope crushed (Psalm 119:116), in fact, quite the opposite, that we can live life abundantly (John 10:10).
