This discussion will continue the posting of Presidential Prayer Team alerts for 2017. I encourage you to post prayers or pray on your own in response to the alerts. Many Christian leaders believe that we are at a crossroads in the path of the United States - will we once again become a country that God uses for his purposes in the world, or will we continue down a path that takes us further away from God's purposes? This is not primarily a political question - it's a spiritual question. And prayer is our best spiritual weapon. Please join in praying for our country!

The president and first family are scheduled to return to the White House this afternoon and are leaving from West Palm Beach, Florida. This will conclude the holiday vacation week for President Trump and the first family.
Beginning today, President Trump proclaimed January 2018 as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. In his proclamation, the president said, “human trafficking is a modern form of the oldest and most barbaric type of exploitation. It has no place in our world.” He also pledged “to do all in our power to end the horrific practice of human trafficking that plagues innocent victims around the world.”

President Trump does not have a public schedule today. He is enjoying time with family and relaxing on the golf course, but he may still attend private events during the holiday week. He met with members of the Coast Guard yesterday and also enjoyed some time at the golf course. Today he is expected to have a similar itinerary.
With protests and unrest breaking out in Iran, President Trump spoke out against the oppression and corruption of the regime. He called for the leaders of Iran to respect the rights of the people and to allow them to protest and express themselves. Because of these protests, the president will be keeping a close eye on developments in Iran.

President Trump wished everyone a Merry Christmas yesterday and then declared that today it’s time to get back to work. Even though this week is a short workweek, President Trump wants to get a head start on many of the issues for 2018. Starting with the federal budget, congress will have to move quickly to set the pace and expenses for the next year. President Trump will also be looking to solidify U.S. Foreign policy as well as tackle a host of domestic issues. One of the big things on the president’s agenda will be a big push for welfare reform.

Merry Christmas, from all of us at the Presidential Prayer Team!
Today the president is expected to take part in an official address to wish Merry Christmas to the nation. After that, he will likely spend time with family.
Yesterday, the president enjoyed speaking with and encouraging service men and women stationed all over the globe. He also spoke with several children from across the nation and gave them updates on Santa’s progress as tracked by NORAD.
At the time of publishing, the Whitehouse has not released a public schedule.

The president and first family are spending the Christmas holiday in Palm Beach at Mar-a-Lago today. The White House has not released a public schedule, but President Trump is expected to rest with his family and may play a few rounds of golf as well.
As the nation prepares to celebrate the birth of Christ, pray with us for each of our leaders as they gather with family and friends in remembrance.
As the Lord Leads, please pray:
For safety for all of our nation’s leaders as they travel for the holidays.
For rest and joy for the first family.
For all the national leaders that they would return to work rejuvenated by the holiday.

At the time of publishing, the White House had not officially released a detailed schedule for the President today. He will be in Palm Beach at Mar-a-Lago today and is expected to spend much of his time with the rest of the first family.
Many other national leaders have taken the long weekend to return to their homes and celebrate with loved ones. With tax reform behind them, many new issues now rise to the top of the agenda, including approving a budget for next year.

At the time of publishing, the White House has not officially released a detailed schedule for the President. Though there is still some speculation surrounding when President Trump will sign the tax reform bill, several White House officials predict it will happen today, just before President Trump and the first family travel to Mar-a-Lago to celebrate Christmas. This will be the final step in the promised tax overhaul and reform.
The president is also expected to sign another budget stopgap bill passed by Congress with the intent of avoiding government shutdown over the holidays. Once back from the holidays, legislators will have to re-evaluate the budget as the next budget deadline is January 19th.

Yesterday, Congress passed major legislation in favor of tax reform and celebrated with the president at the White House. With a major hurdle behind the president, he must be looking forward to spending Christmas with his family. He is expected to travel this afternoon to Mar-a-Lago, but may delay until tomorrow morning.
The president will be keeping an eye on the UN today as its members vote on a resolution that says that any decisions on the status of Jerusalem should be annulled. U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley said, “The president will be watching this vote carefully.” She then added, in reference to the president’s remarks on moving the embassy, “the president's announcement does not affect final status negotiations in any way, including the specific boundaries of Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem.”

Yesterday evening, the Senate voted to pass their revised version of the tax bill and the House of Representatives is expected to cast the final vote today. Though the House already voted on the bill yesterday, there were discrepancies called out by the Senate that they said violated Byrd’s Rule. Because of this, the House will need to make amendments and vote again.
President Trump could see the bill on his desk as early as this afternoon. With the promise of passage before Christmas, the president will likely sign with much excitement. He already thanked and congratulated Congress for the hard work.

The President's Schedule
Decision Time on Iran
Very early in the New Year, President Trump will have to decide whether America should remain a bystander to Iranian expansionism or take steps to confront the country seen as a menace to international security and sponsor of global terrorism. This kind of decision weighs heavy on a president’s heart and mind, and prayers for President Trump are essential.
In October, when the president failed to certify Iranian compliance with the nuclear agreement, he began a process that will force him to make controversial decisions in the coming months.
Congress, meanwhile, has had 60 days to propose measures that would punish Iran for its misbehavior and strengthen the nuclear deal. It has not done so. The president has said the agreement with Iran is a terrible deal. His upcoming decision could also derail efforts by Boeing and Airbus to sell hundreds of jetliners to Iranian airlines.
