Invite Your Pastor To Hear You Pray for Them!!

I was part of a Sunday evening prayer group that prayed specifically for our pastors, their families and the elders of our church.  Our group had been together for about one year when I began to ask the pastor if he would like to come and take part.  For several weeks he declined and then after a couple of months he finally agreed to come and meet with us to pray.  When he arrived he was extremely guarded and his posture was such that you could tell he thought he might need to defend himself, but the evening proved to be the complete opposite!  Our pastor heard "his sheep" pray for him in such a way, like never before.  This intimate setting of 9 people provided a safe haven for him.  Blessing after blessing poured from the lips of his people onto his life, and what took place during that time in prayer was truly moving, and I will never forget it!   As the prayer time wound down and I opened my eyes and looked in his direction, it was obvious that this time had moved him as well, for his countenance had completely changed.  As we said our goodbyes and he headed out the door, he smiled at me and said " when can I come back again?"

Boy, there is something to be said about hearing someone else pray for you, never mind a member of your flock lift you and your family up to God.  Talk about encouraging!!  When was the last time you asked your pastor -How can I pray for you?

  • We have done that at my church as well, we have also invited an prayed for our elders. Many have commented on what a blessing it was to them!
  • I ask regularly what I can pray for. The family I pray4 used to be my pastoral family. She led me back to Christ!
Now she is a state womens director and he is a minister through Special touch helping people who are suddenly impaired.
Its such a blessing when I am able to pray with them, but I email prayers frequently also.
