  • I made a major revision to this devotional on the Name of God, Jehovah Shalom.  T

he change was due to learning a new meaning of the Hebrew letter 'shin'  - that can be documented--and appears to have been in use around the time of Joseph in Egypt.  This usage of the meaning of the letter 'Shin' was from the work of Dr. Douglas Petrovich and his studies about Early Egypt.

Peace is a deep subject, and means many things to many people.  One description of peace cannot explain it all, but what is important to know that God is a God of Peace, and our peace comes from Him because of our trusting Jesus.

  • Studying what is shared about Jehovah brings out a deep meaning of Shalom.  It involves repentance or turning away from sin.    Often when people learn about Jehovah Shalom, this turning away was not mentioned.  I had never heard how heart  repentance is part of taking steps to clear sin issues and will bring true peace.

When I undertook this study,  the Lord has revealed that repentance is needed for peace--a peace that comes from Him.  Personally, I am thankful for Lord showing me that repentance is very important.

I encourage you to take time to meditate on Jehovah Shalom and respond as the Lord leads.
