Is there a purpose in our Blessing others, and praying a blessing for others?
People have many different reasons to pray, and that may apply to reasons for blessing others too. In scripture, we have some examples of how Blessing was used.
Numbers 6:27 (which is the end of the Aaronic Blessing—and states its purpose), and John 17:26 (which is at the end of the prayer Jesus prayed in John) chapter 17)
Numbers 6:27 (KJV)
27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.
John 17:26 (KJV)
26 And I have declared unto them thy Name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
These two verses speak of the Name of God. John 17:26 adds the purpose for using the Name of God: that the love wherewith you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.
I John 4:8 states that “God is love.”
Both the Aaronic blessing and Jesus’ Prayer are a type of blessing. There is a purpose that the Love of God may be in us, and Christ will be in us. (John 17:26.) Take time to meditate on those verses. Rather than give you my personal thoughts on them, take time to let the Lord give you insight as you pray.
May our prayers bless others by lifting up what Jesus has done for us.

As I have taken the time to research scripture, pray, and examine ways to pray, I have learned that Blessing prayer is essential to my intercession. What I have shared I hope encourages each of you to consider examining the use of blessing in your prayers. (I did make some updates to the discussion, which should make the discussion more clear)
