This last week, a 5.9 richter earthquake shook the Virginia and Maryland region and was felt in all the original 13 states. In the Nation's capitol, the National Cathedral was damaged. Some of the tallest pinnacles were either broken or damaged. I saw a picture from the Washington Post which showed a angel on the floor broken. It reminded me of the philistine god dagon whose statue fell before the ark of the covenant when the philistines had captured it and put it in their temple. None of the chairs with kneelers were damaged. --I found myself considering that this is a wake up call to humble ourselves. We have not lifted up Christ like we should. The pinnacles seemed to represent man reaching to God, but an angel on top--not a cross on top shows the wrong focus
As I write this, I am located on the edge of Hurricane Irene-with some strong winds and rain. God may have more to say yet to this region. I know that hearing others share what they are hearing from God, may help us pray and intercede with a focus that will be on Christ.
