Cry Out America – Noon, September 11.
Intercessor – It Makes the Weak Strong
Marianne Adlard is no heralded saint – down here. Hardly known, she was an invalid. Her sister came home from a London Church in 1872 and reported that a visitor had preached that morning, although she found his message only mildly engaging. The preacher himself reported the experience as a “disaster,” perhaps the worst preaching experience of his life. And he was no novice!

Her sister came home from a London Church in 1872 and reported that a visitor had preached that morning, although she found his message only mildly engaging. The preacher himself reported the experience as a “disaster,” perhaps the worst preaching experience of his life. And he was no novice!
Marianne asked her sister the name of the American preacher. “D. L. Moody” was the reply. Her heart leaped. She took no food and saw no
visitors that afternoon. Weak and frail in body, she locked her door and
wrestled in prayer. Moody was on a sabbatical, learning from London’s
great preachers, while his new church was being built in Chicago after
the great fire there.
That afternoon, the horrible thought came to him that he had to preach at the cold church again that night. But that evening the church
was packed and the atmosphere charged. Moody said, "The powers of an
unseen world seemed to have fallen upon the audience." Concluding his
message, he gave an invitation – and 500 people responded. He attempted
to clarify, to filter out the insincere or those who misunderstood. All
500 persisted. And a revival broke out.
Marianne had read about Moody. She kept clippings about him from an American paper under her pillow. She had been praying that God would send him to London and to that church. God answered! When Moody stepped into the pulpit that night, what had been an ice chamber in the morning was flooded with the fire of God. The difference? One bedridden intercessor!

Praying for the Prayer Meeting!
The first time I heard about prayer for prayer, prayer for a prayer meeting – I thought it a bit odd. But real prayer happens often after
much prayer, preparatory prayer, cleansing prayer, repentant prayer,
prayer that prepares the way for deeper prayer.
Start praying for your Noon Prayer rally – now! Mobilize intercessors. Ask God to make it more than a service. Ask him “to come!”
in some manifest way. Ask him to break hearts. Ask him to elicit tears.
Ask him to have us soberly consider the fate of our nation. Ask him to
woo our hearts back to him. Ask him to speak to those who attend only in
connection with date. Ask him to awaken the hearts of leaders who have
come to take part in the program or out of duty. Ask him, across the
land, to begin a spark of revival in our hearts. To send a Great
Awakening!
