Hello all,
Just wondering if I can find out more details about the opportunity to preview War Room?
I would love to forward this invite to our church congregation, with a note about the prayer opportunities we are working to provide.
Question 1 - Does anyone know if this is the FULL movie?
Question 2 - Will viewers be able to use THIS link (sent by Phil) provided in today's email or should we just announce it - and say that we will forward the link in a few days?
I just don't want to look foolish announcing something without understanding how it will work:)
I am brand-new to this group. Forgive me if I am asking these questions in the wrong forum. I am leading a kingdom-focused prayer group in our church and have been watching as God stirs the heart of our pastor. I'm also partnering with a friend in responding to another God-assignment for city-wide revival. I just saw this movie at a conference last week (a special preview) - it is powerful!!!!
Blessings, Suzy

Exclusive Scene From WAR ROOM
WAR ROOM is a compelling drama that explores the power that prayer can have on marriages, parenting, careers, friendships, and every other area of our lives. But what would a movie from the Kendrick Brothers be without some great humor?
In this scene, Tony, played by T.C. Stallings (who was in Courageous) fears his wife Elizabeth, played by Priscilla Shirer, has discovered his wayward ways … and he tries to avoid her wrath!
And One Last Laugh …
Alex and Stephen Kendrick were recently on HIS Radio’s morning show. The team there pulled a surprise by sharing clips from some of the earliest “movies” the brothers made when they were boys. Thanks to HIS Radio, you too can see the Kendrick boys in action!
“War Room”: You’ve seen the movie, now read the book
Like a lot of people, I saw War Room over the Labor Day weekend that likely contributed to the film pulling in $12.6 million over the four-day holiday. By any measure the film is a success, but in Hollywood where box office is everything, the film was made for $3 million. Faith and films do have a fruitful following.
Director Alex Kendrick told The Washington Post, "Our bull's-eye audience are people of faith and the church, and we are trying to call them to a more devoted and sincere walk and that they express faith with conviction and sincerity." Alex and his brother Stephen are behind the film (and others earlier) and says one source, “the movie about a seemingly perfect couple who must use faith to deal with the battles in their lives has apparently struck a nerve. The War Roomrefers to praying strategically, and in the film, one of the characters has a room where she does just that.”
The brothers have brought out a 256-page softcover book called The Battle Plan for Prayer with B&H Publishing. Subtitled “from basic training to targeted strategies,” the brothers say in the introduction “together we’ll walk through some of the most important foundational passages and truths in the Bible regarding prayer, and also share many wonderful resources God gives all of us to help us pray with greater power and precision.”
In the book’s 35 chapters and seven appendices, they “discuss prayer’s benefits, purposes, and how God answers. Then we’ll venture through the importance of properly preparing our hearts so we can boldly approach Him in faith. Last, we’ll share specific prayer strategies you can use to help you pray more biblically and stand firm during moments of temptation and spiritual attack, ready to better intercede on behalf of others around you.”
Intersession is a theme of the movie, working in the lives of others through the healing power of prayer. The younger woman, the leading character in the show, saves her own marriage and at the end, is prepared to work in the life of her sister who needs her help.
Say the authors: “If you desire to draw closer to God and pray more effectively and strategically, it is no accident you’re reading this book. We believe the Lord is calling you into a deeper relationship with Him. And we are cheering you on, daring you to dive in to this journey.”
There are many books out there on prayer and we buy them knowing and feeling that prayer is important because it was such a centerpiece in the life of our Lord—but we just don’t feel comfortable in public or private prayer. Some would say not to read about prayer, just get to doing it. But this book does add something to the prayer genre we haven’t seen before, and for many people it will help in making them “prayer warriors.” Some of us would be happy just to be a “private first class” in putting prayer more central to our lives and practices.
The book goes well beyond the movie and is not just a written form of the film’s storyline. The last chapter (35) is on “Praying for Churches and Revival” in which the brothers say, “The secret [to a vibrant congregation] is united, repentant, humble prayer. Persistent prayer. Extraordinary prayer. Fervent prayer… believing that what God wants is always better and more important than what we want.
“What God wants are people devoted to Him. People in love with him. People whose hearts are ready to be used for His Word. People who are primed to receive the blessings only He can provide.”
Excuse me, I need to go. I need to spend some time in prayer. God is calling me too.
