Using Social Media This Year

As pastor Dan Henderson once said, "If you're going to call a prayer meeting don't expect a crowd."  So often that is still true even though we're seeing some wonderful moves of prayer in churches and cities. Nonetheless, while people want to pray, many cannot get away from their work or other responsibilities to spend significant time praying as a group on the NDP.

We've offered our worship center the past several years for prayer all day providing stations of prayer and a couple of group times for prayer and musical worship. And those times have been rich and highly meaningful for those who came. However, it was difficult to get more than 35 - 70 people to come from a church of 2000.

So this year we're going to only have a one hour group time from 12-1 on our campus. The rest of the day we're inviting people to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, or send us a texting phone number or an email.

Then all day on Thursday we will send or post two prayer items per hour for them to pray for as they go through their day. The requests will revolve around both praise and prayer for our church, city and country. Our posts, however, will help prompt people to both remember to pray and to pray very specifically.  Often people don't know where to start so we want to give them ideas at least.

We believe that through using these other vehicles we will have hundreds rather than dozens praying along with millions of others around the country.
