PUTTING FEET ON JESUS IN LYNCH, KENTUCKY
"Preacher, come here!" yelled the man from across the street. Lonnie Riley left the food distribution center to join the man, who put his arm around Lonnie, exclaiming, "I've been living in this town for 72 years, and you're the first man I've ever seen that put feet on Jesus."
"Sir, I'm humbled that you would say that. I believe God has had many people here over the course of these years to put hands and feet on Jesus, but I'm glad God has chosen this time to reveal that to you. And you can come to know this Jesus just like I do." The man gave his life to the Lord right on the street corner.
In
Lonnie and Belinda Riley, God found a couple who were willing to totally surrender their own agendas, promising God they would obey whatever He would tell them to do, whether big or small. Their example encouraged others in the Tri-cities –
Lynch, Benham and Cumberland in Easter Kentucky, USA, to believe God for radical transformation in their own lives and in their community.
Of the fourteen million who live in the Appalachian Mountains, thirteen million of them are “un-churched” – comprising an unreached people group in the U.S. Lonnie says:
"Everything is just a tool to help people come to know Jesus." In the last 14 years, the Rileys have begun 22 separate ministries in Harlan County. As they give aid, they also share the Gospel, so people will know God loves them and is answering their cries for help. As a result, over 1,500 in the area have given their lives to Jesus and 40% of the people in Lynch are now Christians.
Lonnie explains that the places where you see transformation occurring in the Appalachians are the places where Jesus is being preached and lived out in society.

Many sports enthusiasts are familiar with the phrase “The Miracle on Ice”, referring to the underdog American team that stunned the world in the 1980 Olympics.
But what many people may not be aware of is the real “Miracle on Ice” that has occurred in the Canadian Arctic. This astonishing account, obscured in a region that dwells in darkness for half the year, has become more spectacular than even the Northern Lights that stretch across the Arctic sky.
When it seemed that everyone had given a cold shoulder to the forgotten Inuit people, when it seemed that all hope for the living had melted away, there was still One whose reach could extend to the ends of the Earth…..there was still One who was attentive to the dire circumstances of the Eskimo people.
The vast Northeast Canadian Arctic has nearly thirty thousand Inuit natives that reside over a frigid three thousand square kilometer area. While this desolate area has no trees growing in the frozen tundra, the inner barrenness of the human heart was much more pronounced.
Mammoth problems were painstakingly evident throughout the region: the rate of heavy drinking hit the bottom of the barrel, being three times the national average. Solvent abuse was twenty-six times higher, and the percentage of population in jail three times higher. The Inuit faced despair before their eyes like seeing their own breath in frigid air. Not surprisingly, suicide rates of villages in the Canadian Arctic were also off the charts.
With limited government programs leaving the Inuit out in the cold, the people had nowhere to turn but upward to the Heavenly Father of Lights. Intercession and deep prayer began kicking in like a four-wheel drive on an all-terrain vehicle. The Church had awakened from its hibernation!
After revival meetings in February of 1996 with evangelists Billy Arnaquq and Moses Kyak, citizens in Pond Inlet on Baffin Island held a giant bonfire witnessed by nearly the entire town. With the help of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who provided the fuel, they threw pornography, heavy metal music, and drug paraphernalia in the town dump and burned it. The police estimated the value of the illicit property destroyed to be between $80,000 and $100,000. Within that time, citizens reported the return of fish, caribou, and berries to the area; not to mention, crime began to cascade on the decline. Hope began to crystallize as their community suddenly went from frozen ground to holy ground
Many more accounts of such Transforming Revival have been reported and noted.
For what it’s worth, the once forgotten Inuit people of the Canadian Arctic have experienced a miracle that could be just the tip of the iceberg. When they humbled themselves, the King of Kings remembered them. But what they may not have realised was that they were always on GOD’s radar from the start.
