Celebrate 20 years of prayer for the Muslim World by praying with us through Ramadan, 2013
"For years we saw no fruit until you prayed for our city last year. Now we have a thriving church and are planting more!"
For two decades, millions of Christians have joined together to pray for the Muslim World during Ramadan. God has done amazing things in response to His people’s prayers: countries have opened up, churches have been planted and many Muslims have come to Christ.
The challenges remain great. Of 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide, probably only one third know any Christians at all. But through our prayers, God can reach those we can’t reach, and transform them with the power of His love.
This special twentieth anniversary edition includes:
- Key facts and figures about the Muslim World
- Prayer points direct from workers in the fields
- Stories from those witnessing tremendous moves of God among Muslim peoples
- Testimonies of how God is at work in the lives of Muslims today

Did you know that roughly one out of every seven people on earth is Muslim and that most have never been exposed to the Gospel? Twenty-eight of the 50 largest unreached people groups in the world are followers of Islam, and most have no access to a live Christian witness. God loves these 1.6 billion people so much that He sent His only son to pay the penalty for their sin and to give them the assurance of eternal life.
Muslims around the world are preparing for Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Each day they will abstain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset to cleanse the soul and focus attention on God. This month is a special time for Muslims to pray more than is customary.
Starting this Sunday, and for the next five weeks, Prayercast will be featuring some predominantly Muslim nations. We invite you to join with others around the world praying for our Muslim neighbors during this month in which they are specifically focused on spiritual matters. May God fill us with His love for these 1.6 billion people.
Make this an emphasis in your prayers throughout the day. Pray with your family. Invite your small group or Sunday school class to unite in prayer for Muslims. Perhaps your whole church will come together in prayer to see Jesus' name lifted up across these nations.
Together let's watch and pray,
The Prayercast Team

Intercessors Cover Christians During Muslim Ramadan
CHARISMA NEWS STAFF
In a move to protect the persecuted church in Muslim nations—and to intercede for the salvation of the Muslim world—Open Doors USA is launching a prayer campaign during the 30 days of Ramadan.
From July 20 until Aug. 18 Muslims around the world will be observing the Muslim month of Ramadan. It is a time when most Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset during the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Most Muslims view this as a time to practice humility and submissiveness to Allah.
“During the season of Ramadan let us first lift up in prayer our brothers and sisters in Christ who live in Islamic-dominated nations; strengthening them, empowering them, comforting them and encouraging them,” says Carl Moeller, president and CEO of Open Doors USA. “There are millions of Muslims who have never experienced real peace and joy in knowing a loving God and having Jesus as their Savior.”
Ramadan can be a difficult time for marginalized Christians. Often persecution is heightened because Christians do not fast or observe the Muslim traditions of Ramadan. They can be targeted by their government, community and family.
“Muslims treat Ramadan with reverence,” shares one Christian in an Islamic country. “They tend to be more serious and sensitive about Islamic beliefs and practices. So during Ramadan we (Christians) need to be more careful in carrying out our church activities, especially in conducting seminars, training and other programs.”
Nine of the top 10 countries on the Open Doors 2012 World Watch List of the worst persecutors of Christians have Islamic governments. Those nine countries are Afghanistan (2), Saudi Arabia (3), Somalia (4), Iran (5), Maldives (6), Uzbekistan (7), Yemen (8), Iraq (9) and Pakistan (10).
Open Doors is offering a 30-day prayer calendar available for Christians in the West to pray for Muslim Background Believers living in countries where Christians don’t have the freedom to worship Jesus Christ. The calendar features truths from the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) while offering daily prayers for Muslims.
