How’s your prayer life?

Maybe you lack consistency. Or you’d like to pray with more power and urgency. Or you desire to make prayer a regular part of your day, but you’re simply too busy.

You’re not alone.

God desires to meet with us, so why do we struggle with prayer?

Psalm 145:18 says, “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” If he is near and ready, why do we call on God less often than we ought?

The central question that prevents us from praying more often, more passionately, and more expectantly is, “Why should I pray?”

  • Why pray if God already knows what you’re going to ask?
  • Why pray if God already knows what he’s going to do?
  • Why pray if God seems silent?

And if you don’t wrestle with why you should pray, maybe you’re not sure how to pray or what to pray for. Maybe you simply need encouragement and inspiration so that prayer can become an essential part of your life.

What is “the greater work”?

Oswald Chambers wrote, “Prayer does not fit us for the greater works; prayer is the greater work.”

In my newest book, The Greater Work: How Prayer Positions You to Receive All that Grace Intends to Give, I offer biblical answers to why we pray, how we should pray, and what we should pray for.

I believe this compilation of my many years’ worth of writing and teaching on prayer is best suited for:

  • Christians who desire to have a robust prayer life and yet still struggle to find the time or motivation to cultivate one
  • Pastors and Bible study leaders who’d like to provide their church members with an easily readable, accessible, broad overview of the essentials of prayer
  • People who doubt the efficacy and power of daily prayer

Please consider requesting a copy for yourself and gifting copies to friends, family members, or church members who may be inspired by its words.

May prayer become “the greater work” of your life.

  • Yes please Lord, may Your Spirit enable us to pray according to Your will. May prayer become the greater work of our lives. Without You we can do nothing, but with You we can do all You want us to do. Guide and guard and bless our prayers, in the Name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
