The call to be a house of prayer, and the call to reach all nations, is the heart of what Revival Cry is all about. Grateful to have found another one of my tribe, a fellow 'tribesmen' asking for a contending for 'revival & transformation' in this generation!

"If My People. . ." -is a call to be "a house of prayer for all nations" (Mark 11:17).

I am in total agreement that we as contenders, must see our true condition in order to even know how to pray. In order to do that we must be God-centered, Spirit driven houses of prayer... One of the strengths of this book is how the author shares the basic reality of how important it is for us as individuals to simply walk out our lives with prayer being foundational. And the reality of it having a worldwide scope. it is going to take an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and our willingness to become the very conduits that the Holy Spirit uses, in bringing revival. How God continues to use the ordinary, unknown obedient ones. We are revival as we become secret world changers by spreading the incense of prayer throughout our days, in good times and bad.

The issue of the Holy Spirit's empowerment easily seen in Romans 8:26 is a huge equipping tool. As is using the Lord's Prayer as Trey Kent shares the seven circles of revival, or circles of encounter that is introduced in the book. He brought in the aspect of our spiritual heritage found in the First and Second Great Awakenings. He further brings into focus the foundation of the First Great Awakening and how important the different leadership styles were. Looking at how God used Count Zinzendorf, George Whitefield, John Wesley and Jonathan Edwards - which caused a historic move of God, that not only shaped America, but is still molding the global prayer movement.

As I write this review, it was wonderful to read the highlighted work of the many unknowns of the Second Great Awakening. We need to see the huge influence that each of us can bring into God's big picture by being willing to be used. When I lived in the Northeast I first learned of how God used Charles Finney. And the opposition he faced with his fellow religious leaders. We would tour the old pulpits where Finney had spoken asking God to reopen the wells of revival, in our day. Two striking characteristics of his: The prevalence of a mighty Spirit of prevailing prayer & an overwhelming conviction of sin that brings repentance can still be seen in many today as a result of him being a willing vessel. Finney was a forerunner as he believed that people should not sit back and wait on revival, but should pursue it.

Hosea 10:12, "Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the LORD, that He may come and rain righteousness upon you."

I yearn with Trey Kent for this. And am thankful that he moved us into dreaming and believing as individuals that our looking and pressing into the Spirit... continuing in the belief that we will indeed see the Third Great Awakening in our lifetime... yes, it is on the horizon!

"The coming revival parallels God's miraculous work in the Book of Acts, but will have an even greater worldwide scope." Seeing the unfulfilled sections of Acts 2:17-21 reveal to us a picture of the coming outpouring. Part of which was seen, on the glorious day the church began, but we still wait for the fullness to be poured out.

Come on, let us join in calling for prayer to be first place, acting as the engine. An engine that will fuel the work that is coming. That will sustain us in and thru the hardships that will bring maturity to the Bride.

The coming view of the church is more dynamic, vibrant, life-giving, and community based. Imagine with us if God moved so powerfully in your neighborhood that it began to function like the church --caring for one another, praying for one another, sharing the gospel, meeting needs. In the book of Acts we see Holy Spirit-saturated people of God face all manner of opposition together, victoriously. In that, new communities were formed and the word of God spread rapidly. Revival spread all over the world.

Wondering with the author --

Do you see the need for all to experience personal revival?
Do you believe revival will occur?
Do you have as your life ambition: the spread of revival?

Revival is not a hoped for dream. Revival is a promise. We must be the house of prayer for all nations, contending day and night for the coming revival.

1 Cor. 3:16, "Church, do you know that you are the temple of the Holy Spirit and called to be a living, breathing house of prayer for all nations?"

How does that happen?

May we be even more aware that the fuel for 24/7 watchmen on the walls crying out for revival day and night is the delighting, rejoicing, and singing God. Most of the praying people of God are hyper focused on the circumstances we find ourselves in... But the solution is already here. Isaiah 56:7, God says I will "make them joyful in my house of prayer.". 24/7 prayer is not duty, but unstoppable delight in a God who is singing, rejoicing, and delighting over His people.

Prayer leaders that are being drawn out of a past norm, into what seems to be out of the box, will be excited to see the principles and new patterns that are emerging. They will be encouraged to see the new stats and to see how prayer movements in Asia (100 million) & Africa (75 million) are leading the prayer movements around the globe. That should challenge those of us here in the West. The nations we see here right here among us have much to share and for us to receive from. It is going to take all of His church praying for the world.

Looking toward the Third Great Awakening can we believe these statements?

  • The mess we are in as a nation is not because of the lostness of the world -the issue is the lukewarmness of the church!
  • The remedy for the crisis we face in America rests not with the world getting better, but with the church getting revived.
  • We must daily wage war on lukewarmness in OUR lives. Revival occurs when our passionate love for Jesus is so great that it overflows outside the walls of the church and begins to bring transformation to the lost community around us.
  • This may shock some of us, but we need to keep it ALL God-centered! He uses affliction to awaken us to His love in new ways. Check out Romans 5:1-5.

Our goal as humans is comfort; God's goal is to make us like His Son, Jesus (Romans 8:29). Because of this glorious goal, affliction is essential. Don't miss God in your affliction.
