When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.       Matthew 9:36

      There is nothing more powerful than the compassion of Jesus released to a hurting person. His love is ever present but when we pray for someone in need it is manifested to this person. And an effective way to release His love is to put a prayer box in a public place to receive prayer requests
Last Sunday we launched 30 prayer boxes in Largo,Florida.
        It is simple, ask God where He might want you to put a box. For example, a waiting room or barber shop or another local business. The goal is to get the box in front of hurting people to intercept their pain.
        Approach the business owner or manager and share the idea of the box and ask if it could be placed for two or three months with the idea that you will pray for the business and employees and come once a week to retrieve prayer requests.
        Pray the box will get the attention of a pre-believer.  
        Retrieve the prayer requests and using the Bible write a prayer of compassion to this person. In other words declare the Word of God into this person's situation. Circle a promise in their behalf. And then watch the compassion of Jesus go to work in their lives through you. 
        One man, Bill Smith put his box by the mail boxes in a trailer park. Last count he has led 18 to Jesus. When people get their mail they have an opportunity to be touched by His compasssion.

      Second Box Picture Many of you have ordered a sample prayer box. It is on the way. Where did the idea of a public prayer box come from. The idea came to me in Senatobia, Mississippi. I was doing a prayer conference First United Methodist Church. A lady there pointed out a prayer box sitting outside the fellowship hall. As I looked at it the Holy Spirit said, "It is in the wrong place". That evening we went to eat at the local steak house. We bowed our heads to bless our meal, when I looked up I caught eye contact with a lady watching us pray. The look in her eyes was as if to say, "I need prayer". Then I realized the prayer box needed to be in the steak house for her.

           So was birthed this idea of a public prayer box. Keep the boxes in the church but also spread them around town in waiting rooms, stores, cafes, break rooms, and other places to give prayer to those outside the church. In Acts 3 Peter and John prayed for a man in a public place in the Name of Jesus. And the answer called great attention to Jesus. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. With your box the goal is to pray over the request dropped the box in the Name of Jesus circling a promise from the Bible for them. And they will feel the compassion of Jesus as He answers your prayers. And as a result we can gain the reward for His suffering.

    Prayer Box in a Liquor Store
           On the one side of the prayer box is a simple salvation prayer that a person can take and pray. Romans 10:13 says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." I know there is a lot in being a disciple, but it begins by calling on the Lord Jesus to save us. He can save to the uttermost those in the guttermost. The box is looking for people who are sinking and desperate to cry out to Jesus, and at the moment do not have time for a 17 week class on what it means to be a Christian. This box is the first thing you see when you walk in this business.

    Prayer Box in Starbucks 
    On one side of the box is a blessing prayer. The person can take the prayer and be blessed. So many people feel like life is against them or that they are cursed. Jesus came to break all curses. Amen

       Several years ago Kevin put  a prayer box in his four car washes in Houston. Over the years prayer for his customers has become central to the point he now has four prayer walls in his four Dr. Gleem car washes. The box turned into a wall! This wall on FM 1960 receives 400 requests a week. And the staff gathers to pray over the petitions. And now his car washes are the most successful in all of Houston! People come to just get prayed for even if their car is not dirty.

A box similar to this in Largo, Fla. won several people to Christ! Get your mail and address your prayer need to the Heavenly Father to receive the compassion of Jesus. Therefore we call Box 3:16 God's address for hurting people.
        
     

    Here is a public prayer box in a doctor's office. Sign in to the see the doctor and drop your request in the box. It is a witness to the doctor and staff when the smiling believer comes to check out the box and signify they are praying for this doctor's office. 60.jpgWe call the request slips "bridges' between the rescued and the perishing. An important bridge to share His love over and send promises from God's Word to hurting people. God wants to help them.

    Good place for a prayer box. Over the phone in county jail so as to "call God". Typically boxes in jails get 50 to 60 requests a week. Which is good, since Jesus said, "I was in prison and you visited me!"

    Christmas means this: We did not have to go to God, He came to us in the incarnation! He stepped into our world with flesh and a personal touch to show His great love for us.
    And so we do likewise, here in the pictures is the street version of our Box 316. People simple drive up and leave their request and get prayed for. Now the UPS person can leave a request. Imagine a box like this outside your home or business or church to receive the prayer requests so we can give the compassion of Jesus in prayer. Amen
