Dear Phil,
We know you are concerned with what is going on in our nation. Moral decline, freedoms being taken away from us, the threat of terrorist attacks, all serve to make us uneasy. The only answer for our nation is Jesus Christ. We need a fresh outpouring of His Spirit bringing revival to the church and a spiritual awakening to our land.
Harvest Prayer Ministries is gearing up with a fresh, strong emphasis on equipping and challenging people to pray for our nation. Please take a few moments and read through this newsletter. Check out some of the resources or prayer events that might help motivate and mobilize you and your friends to pray with more passion for the United States.
There is hope! Most revivals and awakenings in history followed dark, desperate times in a nation. We are ready for such an outpouring. Let's pray!
Sincerely,

Pray for Our Elections |

2014 Election Prayer Guide
It is imperative that we pray faithfully for the 2014 elections, yet our hope and trust is not in the results of elections!
That may sound like a strange introduction to an election prayer guide. But the reality is that the spiritual and moral issues facing this nation will not be resolved in the White House, Congress, or the Supreme Court. What the United States desperately needs is another Great Awakening!

Rallying Believers to Pray Together |
In the Old Testament, prior to most times of national revival, the Scriptures record a phrase, "They cried out . . . " People in a unified voice started crying out to God for relief. There is power in praying together.
That is why we are encouraging the Church, once again prior to an election, to cry out to God on behalf of our nation. Hopefully hundreds of thousands and even millions will do just that. We are encouraging people to use the 40 day prayer guide, Desperate for Change.
You and your church can be a part of this effort in two ways:

Called to Washington to Pray
The leadership of four different national and international ministry coalitions have all felt the call of God to hold a prayer assembly in Washington, D.C. just prior to the elections.
This is not a political thing. It is simply a call for intercessors who feel led of the Lord to pray for repentance, reconciliation and revival, to come and seek His face together, October 29-30, 2014.
Might He be calling you?

September 11th is a day that will live on in our memories our entire lifetime. Each year, there is a special prayer event called Cry Out America, which focuses prayer on our nation.
Gatherings will be held in most counties across this United States.

Powerful Storms Thrashing Midwest – 13 Fatalities so Far; Storms March Eastward
A powerful storm system that produced multiple reports of tornadoes lashed the Midwest early Wednesday, roughing up the country music resort city of Branson and laying waste to a small town in Kansas. At least 13 people were killed in Illinois and Missouri.
There are estimates of more than 100 injuries and at least 200 homes destroyed or damaged, along with an apartment complex, church and commercial structures.
At least 10 people were killed in the southern Illinois city of Harrisburg after a storm swept through shortly before dawn. In Missouri, at least three people died, including one person who was killed in a trailer park in the town of Buffalo. At least three people were critically injured in the small eastern Kansas town of Harveyville.
Forecasters warned more twisters could strike he Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachians through Wednesday evening as the storm system moved east.
The tornadoes were spawned by a powerful storm system that blew down from the Rockies on Tuesday and was headed across the Ohio and Tennessee river valleys toward the Mid-Atlantic region.
Corey Mead, lead forecaster at the U.S. Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., said a broad cold front was slamming into warm, humid air over much of the eastern half of the nation.
From Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, at least 16 tornado sightings were reported from Nebraska and Kansas across southern Missouri to Illinois and Kentucky, according to the storm center, an arm of the National Weather Service.
In northern Oklahoma, gusts of up to 80 mph flipped trailers and damaged homes near Cherokee. In neighboring Kansas, the National Weather Service reported brief tornado touchdowns southwest of Hutchinson, and Gov. Sam Brownback declared a state of emergency after an apparent tornado struck Harveyville.
Tornado warnings and watches were posted for most of Kentucky and a large portion of Kentucky.

‘Day of Prayer for Media’ Targets Influential Cultural Mountain
As one of the seven mountains of cultural influence, media can be used for good or evil. Now,intercessors are committing to set aside print and broadcast deadlines to pray for the industry in the first-ever Day of Prayer for Media.
The Church and Media Network (CMN) is calling for churches to mark May 20 as a Day of Prayer for the Media.
“This call to prayer is part of our response to the intense discussion of media standards over the past 12 months. The media is under pressure as never before with financial constraints and many illegal and dubious practices being rightly brought under the spotlight by the Leveson Inquiry and elsewhere. We certainly do not condone any of these practices,” says Andrew Graystone, director of CMN.
“Yet at its best the media performs a vital role in our society, giving a voice to the voiceless, holding the powerful to account, keeping people informed and highlighting wrongdoing,” Graystone continues. “As Christians, we want to affirm the vast majority of journalists and others who work in the media who are doing their best to work to high ethical and professional standards, and to pray for them.”
The charity is encouraging churches to include local, regional and national media in their prayers. CMN also wants them to “befriend” the media, telling them about their activities and giving feedback on what they broadcast or publish.
ITV Newsreader Julie Etchingham and BBC Football Focus presenter Dan Walker are among Christian media personalities that are joining a growing number of broadcasters and journalists to launch the intercessory initiative.
And All Souls Church, Langham Place, London, which stands next to the BBC’s newly-redeveloped Broadcasting House complex, is one of the first churches to sign up to take part in the Day of Prayer.
“If anyone needs divine wisdom in our generation it is all those involved in communicating with our generation,” says senior pastor Mark Meynell. “They need all the prayers they can get!”
ESCATAWPA, Miss. (BP) -- An unusual sight -- an 11-foot-tall wooden cross with hundreds of written prayer requests nailed to it -- has been turning motorists' heads and prompting some of them to get out of their cars since Jan. 23.
For 100 days, pastor Terry Long has kept vigil at the cross.
-- Pastor Terry Long
Today (May 15) is his concluding day at the busy intersection of Highways 63 and 613 near the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
"I felt the Lord told me to do three things," said Long, who has been in the pastorate since 1981, the last eight years at Lilly Orchard Baptist Church in Escatawpa.
"One was to put a cross out here on the highway. At first I didn't know where it was to go, but it just clicked that this was the intersection. Through a series of circumstances, this is where I ended up.
"Second, I was to pray for revival for a hundred days, every day," Long continued. "I was to push everything aside and just do this, pray for revival in our county and in our country. I was to not take a salary from my church for those hundred days. I was to give it back to the church.
"Third, I was to fast and pray. And on the 10th day, five men from my church met with me just to see how things were. They knew I hadn't eaten and had given my salary up. In that meeting, they said, 'We understand why you gave your salary up, but we feel like we want to be a part of this -- we're missing a blessing. We want you down at this cross, and we'd like to restore your salary,' and the church has done just that," said Long, a bivocational pastor who does construction work.
A native of Jackson County along the Gulf Coast, Long had begun praying for revival earlier in January. "I was concerned for the county -- I remember when the churches here were full and alive, and God impressed on me this was what I needed to do. He just dropped this in my heart."
The pastor said he argued with God that it was "too radical." Read More
'Distinctly Christian' Lord's Prayer Banned in Delaware Council Meetings
A U.S. district court judge in Delaware ruled last week that members of a local city council who had been reciting the Lord's Prayer at every meeting for six years must stop the "Christian" practice because it violates the Constitution.
The decision by Judge Leonard P. Stark comes in response to a lawsuit filed last year by four Sussex County residents who claimed that the prayer violates the First Amendment. The city council had argued that the Lord's Prayer, though widely used by Catholics and Protestants, was not exclusive to Christianity as it does not make a specific reference to Jesus.
Judge Stark explained in his opinion that "the court is likely to conclude that the Council's practice of opening each meeting with a recitation of this distinctly Christian Lord's Prayer violates the Establishment Clause because it constitutes government endorsement of the Christian faith."
"The fact that The Lord's Prayer has been the only prayer recited at the beginning of Council meetings for over six years is likely to be found to demonstrate that the Council gives Christianity an unconstitutionally preferred status," he added.
The county's attorney, J. Scott Shannon, argued earlier this year that the prayer, introduced by Jesus in the Bible, was being misunderstood by the plaintiffs.
"[Jesus] was not offering a Christian prayer in the Christian tradition because no Christian tradition existed," Shannon said. He also positioned that there was no specific mention of Jesus Christ in the prayer, and it contained language that was fitting to other faiths as well.

But the attorney for Americans United for Separation of Church and State, Alex Luchenitser, insisted that the very opening lines of the prayer -- "Our Father Who Art in Heaven Hallowed Be thy Name" -- does indeed refer specifically to Christ.
"That's a Christian way of referring to Jesus. This is not something reasonable people disagree over," said Luchenitser, who spoke on behalf of plaintiffs Barbara Mullin, Julie Jackson, John Steinbruck and William O'Connor.
Judge Stark's injunction to stop the prayer takes effect on June 15, meaning that any council meetings after that date that begin with the Lord's Prayer would be in violation of the order.
Some council members made aware of the decision have expressed disappointment,Delmarvanow.com reported.
"Whatever happened to freedom of speech," asked Councilman Sam Wilson. "I don't know how we're gonna get around it, but we're gonna have to find a way."
Judge Stark elaborated, however, that many other council meetings begin with prayers that are not specific to one religion, and so do not go against the Constitution. He reportedly invited the plaintiffs to think about how to "preserve the Council's practice of opening its meetings with a prayer but to do so in a manner that is consistent with the United States and Delaware Constitutions."

CRC Asks Churches to Pray for Rain
The Christian Reformed Church is calling on all its members to pray for an end to the drought that is affecting much of North America. In a letter sent today to pastors and congregations across the United States and Canada, the CRC’s executive director, Rev. Joel R. Boot, asks congregations to pray fervently until the drought is abated. Read Story
What is America For Jesus?
A solemn assembly to summon together the whole body of Christ to pray for
the church and our nation. Based on the text in 2 Kings 2:19-22, we believe
God is calling His people to bring "the salt" which is the church to the
head of the waters where the foundation of our American liberty was birthed
in Philadelphia and to intercede for God to heal the land. 2 Kings 2:19-22
19And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the
situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is
naught, and the ground barren. 20And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put
salt therein. And they brought it to him. 21And he went forth unto the
spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the
LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more
death or barren land. 22So the waters were healed unto this day, according
to the saying of Elisha which he spake.
When is America For Jesus?
September 28th & 29th 2012
Where is A America For Jesus?
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is where the Declaration of Independence
was signed. This is the location where the Constitution of the United States
was debated and then ratified after much prayer. Additionally, this spot
hosted the writing of the Bill of Rights. All of these concepts were
harvested from a seed planted by William Penn, a Quaker, who founded
Pennsylvania's government on principles of Freedom & Equality. In 1751 the
Pennsylvania General Assembly commissioned a foundry in England to forge a
bell in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of William Penn's Constitution for
Pennsylvania, the Charter of Privileges. On the bell is inscribed Leviticus
25:10 which says,
"Proclaim liberty throughout the land unto the inhabitants thereof."
Why America For Jesus?
America is in a state of emergency evidenced by the symptoms of widespread
moral depravity and economic meltdown. Education, government, and man's
wisdom cannot solve this problem. There is only one remedy that truly can
"heal the Land"-
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble
themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal
their land. God required four things of His people before he would hear
them. 1) humility 2) prayer 3) seek the Lord & 4) repentance.
One Nation Under God, Inc.
One Nation Under God was birthed by a vision the late John Gimenez had in
October of 1978 when he was preaching at a conference in Oakland, CA. During
his message he referenced I Samuel 17:29 where David asked the question, "Is
there not a cause?" That day God spoke to John that indeed there was a cause
and a present day Goliath seeking to destroy the very foundation of our
country. A foundation that has always been based on the Word of God. From
that point on, John believed he had a mandate from God to gather a solemn
assembly focused on turning America back to God in prayer.
On April 29, 1980 over 700,000 people gathered from across the nation to
pray for God to move in America. This historic march in our nation's capital
ultimately affected the lives of hundreds of thousands of believers and
launched a vision for a new America built on Godly values and the word of
God.
The organization is a coalition of ministries who unite to organize national
calls to prayer for the sake of the church and the nation. Since its
inception, One Nation Under God has sponsored several solemn assemblies
focused on prayer, repentance, and change.
Here is a brief chronology...
1980 - Washington for Jesus 80 on the National Mall in DC - This solemn
assembly was focused on God healing the land
1981 -1982 - America For Jesus - These were citywide rallies held from
California to the Florida that were solemn assemblies for regions to pray
for the nation
1988 - Washington for Jesus 88 on the National Mall in D.C. - This prayer
gathering was a time of repentance for a failing church
1996 - Washington For Jesus 96 on the Capitol Steps of the Mall in D.C.-
This assembly focused on bringing down strongholds& activating a new
generation.
2004 - America For Jesus 2004 on the National Mall in Washington D.C. - This
rally was originally a prayer event for Latinos in the church of America but
eventually was opened up for everyone to attend to pray for the nation.
2007 - The Assembly 2007 in Virginia Beach Virginia on the Oceanfront - This
rally was organized to rededicate America back to God through the planting
of the cross to renew the 400 year old covenant of Chaplain Robert Hunt and
the Jamestown colonists.

National Day of Repentance
HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif., Aug. 21, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- In these very difficult times politics alone can't resolve our problems. Many of our problems nationally are spiritual, requiring a spiritual solution. One such solution was often employed by our nation's founders -- a national day not just of prayer, but also of personal, and national, repentance. There is a growing movement, an awakening within the body of Christ, event after event, in these next 90 days, pointing out that we believers in Christ need to pray and repent so that the Lord can step in with His miracles, which our nation now desperately needs. Many prayer events are planned, but a focus on repentance is vital for their success.
In local Christian churches and ministries across denominations and across the nation just such a National Day of Repentance is set to take place from sundown Tuesday, September 25 through sundown Wednesday, September 26. To emphasize the value God places on repentance, this date will coincide with the 3,450-year-old Jewish holy day of atonement, Yom Kippur.
The purpose of the National Day of Repentance is to bless the body of Christ, by focusing on repentance in our own lives, on this one key day; pull away from the world, and join many others across the nation, in local churches, homes, or ministries. We encourage the body of Christ to pray, to fast, and to do one's own spiritual inventory with God our Creator during a National Day of Repentance. We believe this will open heaven for the Lord to forgive our sin and heal our land.
A website, www.dayofrepentance.org, has been created to foster participation at the grassroots level among the denominations within the body of Christ on this key day.
The event is calling pastors, priests, intercessors, church leaders, prayer "warriors," those with the ability to discern the times like the sons of Issachar [1 Chronicles 12:32], those with spiritual discernment [1 Corinthians 12:9], those who understand the spiritual power of repentance individually, and for a nation. [Revelation 3:19, Ephesians 6:12; and 2 Chronicles 7:14].
Our Founding Fathers understood the power of repentance and declared Days of "Fasting, Prayer and Humiliation" as a key spiritual tool to establish and preserve this nation. When the Revolutionary War looked most bleak, John Adams, asked if he believed we could nonetheless defeat Great Britain, said: "Yes, if we fear God and repent of our sins."
This National Day of Repentance is set to coincide with Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement. Holding this event on Yom Kippur, is in no way meant to preempt or replace what Yom Kippur means for the Jewish people, but is meant to honor the Jewish people's divinely mandated calendar (Lev 23:1-2), and to honor the holiness and seriousness of that day. It also honors the Jewish roots of the Christian faith in Romans 1:16. The Lord Himself said [Leviticus 23:27-31] that the Day of Atonement would be a "holy convocation", a day to "afflict" one's soul, to do no work; a "statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings."
Although 2 Chronicles 7:14 applies to Israel primarily, it also applies to all believers as a way to heal the nations, including our nation, in 2012. "If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
This is a nonprofit project, for the body of Christ, across all denominations, initiated by a small group of pastors nationwide. For more information please contact Pastor Jeff Daly, Director, National Day of Repentance, (707) 987-9082, jdalylaw@aol.com,www.dayofrepentance.org.

Billy Graham's 'Judgment' Letter Sparks Charismatic Commotion
TROY ANDERSON(BGEA)
Famed evangelist Billy Graham’s letter calling America and its “deceived people” to repentance is one in a series of escalating warnings that the nation is in growing danger of God’s judgment, prominent faith leaders told Charisma News.
“This may be our last chance to call the nation to pray,” says Anne Gimenez, national chairperson ofAmerica for Jesus—America for Jesus—The Awakening, which expects hundreds of thousands of people to gather at Independence Mall in Philadelphia Sept. 28-29 to pray and intercede for the United States.
“We believe it possibly could be the last time we have this opportunity. Nineveh is a great example. All the wickedness of that city, and yet when they did what God said they should do and repented, God healed their land. That’s right where America is today. We’re on the brink of America being destroyed as we know it, but I believe God is giving America a chance at this hour.”
In his letter, “My Heart Aches for America,” the 93-year-old Graham wrote that he recalled how his late wife, Ruth, once expressed concerns about the nation’s “terrible downward spiral”—exclaiming, “If God doesn’t punish America, He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.”
Graham, who has preached to more people than any other Protestant in history—2.2 billion—wrote that he wondered what Ruth would think of the country today where “self-centered indulgence, pride and a lack of shame over sin are now emblems of the American lifestyle.”
“My hearts aches for America,” wrote Graham, who has provided spiritual counsel to every president from Harry S. Truman to George W. Bush and received Barack Obama in his home in 2010. He has been on Gallup’s “Ten Most Admired Men in the World” list 55 times since 1955.
“The wonderful news is that our Lord is a God of mercy, and He responds to repentance. In Jonah’s Day, Nineveh was the lone world superpower—wealthy, unconcerned and self-centered. When the Prophet Jonah finally traveled to Nineveh and proclaimed God’s warning, people heard and repented. I believe the same thing can happen once again, this time in our nation.”
Graham’s letter calling America to repentance comes as a growing number of highly respected Christian leaders have issued similar warnings in recent months, noting that the nation is in a downward spiral of economic decline, immorality, corruption, growing secular humanism and attacks on religious liberty.
Jack Hayford, the founding pastor of The Church on the Way in Van Nuys, Calif., and the former president of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, says Graham’s letter comes as the nation is in a “very grim hour as we approach the election this year.”
“What we need is something on the order of shock troops at this hour, and I can imagine that can be raised,” Hayford says. “I don’t feel despairing. I do feel the urgency. We are at a point that desperate action is needed and Billy’s voice, certainly as no other, can give rise to that.”
Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, the author of the New York Times best-selling book The Harbinger, says Graham’s letter is a “prophetic word” that parallels the message in The Harbinger—that America is rapidly departing from God and is in danger of judgment unless it turns back to God in humble and genuine repentance.
The fact that Graham released the letter “should get our attention” and is “very striking” and “very stunning,” says Cahn, the senior rabbi at the nation’s largest messianic congregation, the Beth Israel Worship Center in Wayne, N.J.
“I believe this is a very, very critical time for America and for God’s people in America, and I believe it has ramifications for world history,” says Cahn, a descendant of Aaron, the high priest of the ancient Israelites and the brother of the Biblical prophet Moses. “The way that America goes is going to affect the world, and the way God’s people in America go will affect America.
“So, the message of The Harbinger is that we are in danger and that the same progression of judgment that occurred in the last days of ancient Israel is now occurring in America. The call is ultimately for salvation for those who don’t know the Lord and for repentance and revival for those who do. I see this (Graham’s letter) as another very stark sign that we are a critical point.”
