I am a prayer leader at a small church (80) in the Portland Or. The community we serve has in the past 10 years become increasingly evil and is as diverse as you can get. We began a prayer committee about 8 years ago, and had prayer retreats and emphasis on prayer.......God was blessing. Our pastor retired, and the new pastor didn't have the same goals...... But Prayer is what got us through that hard time. Now we have a pastor that God is using and he loves prayer. We are beginning a new phase of prayer. We would like to not call it a committee, but a prayer team, a group of people that lead the church in prayer and keep prayer alive and well, as the church and our community change.
My questions are to those of you who have a prayer team established at your church, how do you function, what are your goals, how often do you meet? and any other advise you have, would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Dear Sherry,
I want you to understand and off cause, i know that you know that prayer is a warfare. It is a war that will only end at the sound of the rapture. In as much as we are living, prayer must be our hubby for us to win in the battle of life. Have it in mind that not all Christians are willing and ready to pray. And an a effectual prayer requires a lot. Well to your question, I am a prayer leader of group that God is using to prove his power over here. We meet twice every week. Monday`s and Thursday`s. And the prayer is always at nights. Between 12am to 4am.
