As a national park ranger 1300 miles from home, I have none of my prayer resources with me but find myself in need. The pastor at my new (seasonal) church found out that I am a woman of prayer and has asked me to teach a 6-8 week series to his congregation of seasoned comfortable Christians. There has been no prayer meeting or prayer ministry at the church for several years. It is my desire, as an outsider, to bring fresh ideas and practices that may become disciplines in the fabric of this church and its members. What seem to be the most important over-arching themes, if one could have carte blanche (which the pastor has already given me) to explain, to model, to practice, etc.? These are folks with a good deal of head knowledge, but perhaps needing a new perspective and some encouragement to try new things. I've been given permission (with a smile) to push them out of their comfort zones. I envision something of a smorgasbord -- trying different things each week, perhaps praying Scripture, prayerwalking around the church, different stations of silent/listening prayer, healing prayer, Lectio Divina, a concluding evening of learning to pray deeply for one another. A praise team is available every other week, so I can include worship music.

 What would YOU teach?

Does anyone have a favorite definition of prayer beyond the too-basic "conversing with God"?

THANK YOU for any input. I appreciate it so much.
