5 Prayers You Can Pray Before Inauguration Day

A new president will be sworn in next week, and Franklin Graham has been asked to read Scripture at the inauguration. For decades, he and his father, Billy Graham, have taken part in presidential inaugurations by praying for the nation and its leadership.

Will you pray for the United States—for the outgoing and incoming administrations and for unity within a divided nation? Read on for five specific ways you can pray, borrowed from Billy and Franklin Graham’s past inaugural prayers.

  • s it possible to call for a day of prayer and fasting for Friday for the inauguration?
There are subversives planning all kinds of mischief, more than normal protests and closer to rioting. They plan to block people from getting places, throwing noxious liquids at people, etc. There are always normal protesters, but this is different and much is funded by an evil person (& probably his followers).
There is so much hated and uncertainty out there. Prayer and praise can stop or slow it.
Please ask your networks to pass the word for prayer and hopefully fasting all over the country and even the world.
    Thank you so much.

  • I was very pleased to see Dr. Graham and others offering prayers to our God and readings from Scripture as part of the inaugural ceremony.  It seems that God is getting kicked out of so many aspects of the public sphere - was good to see that this important occasion, at least, still recognizes our dependence on God.  I was also surprised and encouraged at President Trump's mentions of the Bible.

I encourage anyone who prayed for the election, for the transition, or for the inauguration - and all others whom God would lead into prayer for our country - to check out the USPRAY100 event.  This event is sponsored by the Presidential Prayer Team and features daily e-mails with current items for prayer.
