The Apostle Paul linked these prayers to the peace of a nation: “that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (v. 2).

But there’s something more. Paul followed this with an insight into God’s underlying work throughout all history: “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (vv. 3–4).

United Cry's 30 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR THE 2016 ELECTION - Week Two THE HEART OF THE MATTER   For the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.  In this election let the men and women of God have God's vision to see clearly what God sees and desires. Samuel Adams letter to James Warren, February 12, 1779 As we enter the second week of United Cry's 30 Day prayer focus for the 2016 election,  matters of the heart is what the Lord is highlighting.  With all the allegations of misconduct, lies,  and duplicity with tapes and emails being released over the past week , it can be disheartening. The temptation to withdraw, to disengage is real.   However, that is never the stance we, as believers, are called to take.    We are called to be light, we are called to be hope, we are called to be truth.    So how do we stand, how do we pray in times such as these?   We pray for the heart of this nation.   We pray for the hearts of our leaders, we pray for the hearts of the people.  May God go to  the heart of the matter and bring life back to this nation.  TO GOD BE THE GLORY!  AMEN.
