I was attracted to this book by the idea of the companionship of God being a bigger part of my daily life and activities. I know that He is always with me and am dependent on that fact, but to enjoy His companionship in a more comprehensive way was an appealing thing to me.
The book really is, as the author presented it, as a personal spiritual retreat guide. The author believes that making dedicated time for an intense look into God's word and responding to it will permeate all of your life.
As I worked through the book, following the author's prescribed activities for each session, I found that I agreed with the author's premise. Those times of "retreat" stayed with me as I went about the business of my daily life and I found myself thinking often of the communion I shared with God during those times. It became easier and easier to extend that time and have "mini-retreats" during which I reviewed the scripture and prayer throughout my day.
I do think it's a practice that one needs to make a commitment to continue with, after you finish the book. It's so rewarding though, that that won't be a problem.
Anyone seeking to increase their fellowship with Christ, and have it be a more integral part of their whole life would benefit from this book.
I found this book on the list of books to be reviewed on the Book Review Team site.
