  • Sometimes I have been desperate to pray. Other times I have been desperate in prayer. Always, however, desperation has been the soil and seed that bears the fruit of answered prayer—for me, at least. Maybe it will do the same for you.

Jim Cymbala Devotional: The Power of Desperate Prayer

Ps 34:6 NLT In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened, He saved me from all my troubles.

    Lord God,

Desperate prayer comes from desperate situations. We love reading the Psalms, of which many were written because of desperate people who called on Your Name when there was no earthly help to save them.

Please give us the courage to accept desperation when it is Your will to take us through difficulties to teach us more about Yourself and Your grace and power. Please strengthen our faith.

When we call on You, You are always there. Please lead us to victory. With You we are more than conquerors.

And please give us timely rest and relief from our days of trouble, so that we won't be tried beyond what we can bear.

Thank You for Your mercies that are new every morning.

In the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.
