Stand Against Slavery Praying for our Government Tuesday, September 4th, began the critical Senate hearings for Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump's nominee to the Supreme Court. Featured Video - Click/tap image to watch Show UP - Government sphere video Abiding in this Season Jason Hubbard, Executive Director, LOWPC   Jesus clearly spoke to us that we can nothing apart from him!  As John 15:4 says, "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me." The essential meaning of our abiding is the act of receiving and trusting all that God is for us in Christ. It is trusting in Jesus, remaining in fellowship with Jesus, connecting to Jesus so that all that God is for us in him is flowing like a life-giving sap into our lives. That's number one: abiding is believing, trusting, savoring, resting, and receiving. The Lord has challenged me these last few months in three areas of abiding. First abiding in his love, second abiding in his Word, and third abiding in his wounds.  All of this requires "Unhurried Space" in our lives to receive and remain! As Jesus said, Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV), "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Rest is not a reward for faithfulness - it is a pre-requisite for fruitfulness. Abiding in His Love As Jesus said in John 15:9, "As the Father has loved me so I love you. Abide in my love." The same measure of love, of delight, pleasure, commitment, dedication and enjoyment that the Father has in the Son, the Son has in you and I!  As we believe and receive that love it pours out in love for one another! Mark 3:13-14 says, "and then Jesus went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him. And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach and have authority to cast out demons."  He called those he wanted and desired. He called them first to be with Him and second to preach the gospel and cast out demons with authority!  This is true for us as well! Let's learn first that he desires us to be with Him in the place of prayer. Out of that place of intimacy and friendship we go forth and proclaim his great good news to all the world! Intimacy that leads to Impact! Abiding in his Word John 8:31-32 (ESV), "So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."  Abiding in the vine means receiving and believing and trusting in the words of Jesus. His word sanctifies us, renews us, cleanses us, and transforms us into his very likeness! Encountering God in his Word leads to Transformation! Let's get into the text of God's Word until the text get's into us!   Abiding in his Wounds John 6:55-56 (ESV), "For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him."  According to Jesus, one of the most practical ways to grow in a lifestyle of abiding is to abide in his wounds. We are called to long and loving meditation on the crucified Christ and all that he has done for us at the cross!  He calls us to feast on his body and his blood, to remember, to give thanks, and to eat and drink in all that the Word of God declares to us of the crucified Christ! May our hearts be pierced through by the "Pierced One." Finally, the goal of abiding is the glory of God. John 15:8 says, "By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples." The whole design of our not being the vine, but being utterly dependent branches grafted into the vine, is to give glory to God. The bottom line is, hour by hour, day by day let us receive and rest in the outrageous love of God revealed through his Word to us and his Wounds for us!  He gets the Glory and we get the Joy!   Amen and Amen! For the Supremacy of Christ in all things,  Jason Hubbard  Current Prayer Requests Day2Pray  Whatcom Prayer Strategy  United day and night prayer to see transformation July/August 2018   Church Pray for unity for our pastors and leaders in Whatcom County and please pray for the next Pastors Praying for Pastors meeting on September 26th. John 17:21, 23. Pray for leaders, host homes and the re-launch of weekly Christ-exalting, Spirit-led, gospel-driven small groups in the fall. Pray for new leaders and discipleship groups to form.  Government Please pray for the upcoming November election, that Christians would be informed and vote. Pray that we as believers would see citizenship as an important stewardship. Pray for the confirmation and election of godly judges in our Supreme Court. Family Please pray for our church families as we enter the fall season, that prayer would be the center of our homes. Please pray that we would disciple our children in the ways of the Lord, creating healthy boundaries to keep us focused in relationship with God. Pray for the Stand Against Slavery event happening on November 3. Pray that many would come to join in prayer against sexual exploitation and for setting captives free. Please pray for the exposure of human trafficking. Also, pray for ministry to develop in our county to meet the needs of trafficking victims under age 21. Business Pray for the labor market that God would bring the right people to the right job as many companies are struggling to find the "right" employees and labor workers. Pray for businesses that are passing off leadership to the next generation. Pray for understanding and new life into those businesses.  Pray for housing costs to level out and/or affordable options for those people "priced out" of the housing market.   Media Pray for the "One Voice Creates" team which is a multi-church group of artists that helped organize the One Voice Project. Pray for protection as some family emergencies have taken place and that this group would take root this Fall. Also, pray that worship leaders would enter the fall with renewed passion and full tanks.  Please pray for PRAISE 106.5 listeners to be blessed through the music and host stories on the radio. May those feeling empty be led to the station and encouraged through their content.  Health Pray for those with limited medical options, for healing and wisdom on the doctors who care for them. Pray that churches would adopt elderly in extended care facilities. Education Please pray that Christian students, staff, and parents would seek wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God to love and live for Jesus without compromise (Psalms 50:23 & Ephesians 1:17) and that they would be known by a spirit of thankfulness. (Psalm 50:14) Pray for a covering of safety over all schools (Psalm 91) and for the development of a Christian High school in Bellingham.  Social Services Pray for God's vision for transformation in the Social Service team and non-profits in our county, that God would be the head of it all. Please pray for a wall of protection for nonprofit service agencies and leaders as they experience spiritual warfare: Love INC, Skookum Kids, Engedi Refuge, Rebound, Whatcom Pregnancy Clinic, Lighthouse Mission, Men of Dignity, Envision Mission, Hope House, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services (DVSAS) and many more. Strategic Missions Indigenous efforts are being made to translate and contextualize select Bible stories in hopes of being able to use them in sharing the Gospel message to an unreached tribe in Bangladesh.  Pray that God will bless these efforts, that many people will respond, and that the church will be established among this tribe. Yemen is recognized as the worst humanitarian disaster in the world in 2018. Huge numbers of people are facing starvation, including well over a million children. Evil atrocities darken daily life during civil war. Join Jesus and Yemeni mothers in intercession for their children according to Lam. 2:18-19 and into the hope of Lam. 3:21-26. Christy Tucker, LOWPC Staff "So, what is it like at the prayer center?"  This is the question I get asked the most.  It can seem rather mystical, intimidating, or boring...people in a room praying night and day.  Let me tell you what it is really like: First of all, it's real people.  It's soccer moms, college students just starting out in their journey, retirees who have loved Jesus for decades and continue to press on, men swinging by on a lunch break or before work... It's ministry leaders and those who just met Jesus.  It's everyday people that Jesus loves and who are created to be in real relationship with Him.  And we come for Him! Jesus said the Father is seeking worshipers who will worship Him in Spirit and in truth.  These are the kind of worshipers we want to be. Not "professional" worshipers, but authentic worshipers. While each meeting may be unique, there are some common threads that you will find each time we gather:  Christ exalting: Jesus is seated on the throne in Heaven, the Father has put all things under His feet. Not only that, but he loves us enough to die for us....There is no other being, whether angel or demon, or anything in all creation that is worthy of our focus like Jesus.  So at every meeting Jesus will be exalted above everything else. And let me tell you, it is amazing what happens to our hearts when we do that. Hearts that come in heavy with sorrow leave light with His peace and joy because we come to see things in the right perspective. Bible-based: The prayers we pray are not wishful thinking or our own ideas of what we want. They are based in the infallible and eternal word of God and His promises. That is infinitely better!  So we know they will get answered!  What's more is that as we pray prayers based on His word, we get to know how God thinks and feels, and get to know His heart. You don't have to be a bible scholar to find it, he made it simple enough for a child to understand. United: We can't possibly live a life of obedience to God without loving our brothers and sisters. One of the beautiful victories of the cross is that not only did it rend the veil separating us from the Father, but it also destroyed the dividing wall of hostility between peoples (Eph 2:14-15).  The unity of the Spirit and brotherly love we have comes not from ourselves but from God.  And we get to celebrate and practice this love and unity as we worship and pray together in the prayer room. We come together from different backgrounds, generations, cultures, and denominations, all equal at the cross, together lifting up one name: Jesus!  You get to know people's hearts in a beautiful way as you pray together!   Spirit-Led: It's our desire that every meeting would be lead by the Holy Spirit who was sent to be our guide, comforter and instructor, who takes the things that belong to Jesus and makes them known to us! WOW, think about that for a minute, what a gift!  You see, it is not just about sitting in a room at 714 E. Sunset Drive to say some prayers. It is about talking with the King of the Universe who invites us to come into His heavenly throne room to see His Kingdom come in important areas like our families, community and the nations.  Each meeting varies depending on the leader and the theme/topic, but basically we can narrow down the "types" of prayer meetings to three: Music Driven: These are led from the front with a worship team, with prayers being both sung and spoken between songs of praise and adoration.  It is a powerful time to sing with one voice and lift up Jesus as a whole group in the room. Round Circle Prayer: Some meetings we sit together and lift up prayers of intercession around a specific topic.  Everyone has space to add in their prayer as we agree together to see God's Kingdom come and His will be done. Devotional: Other times the room is filled with the melody of beautiful worship songs.  Each one in the room takes the time to slow down from the busy world, share our hearts with God, and listen for His. Each one prays from their own heart, meditating on the Word of God. It's a time to worship, adore, love, and be loved by Him. So if you have ever wondered what it is like in the prayer room, I invite you come join us.  Come add your voice with ours as we exalt Jesus in united day and night prayer praise and worship for global harvest! Many pastors are sharing pulpits this spring and summer, and 10 churches are participating in a Sunday morning service together for the annual Pentecost Gathering on May 28th.  Pray for our children's ministry teams and pastors as they gear up for the summer months, VBS's, and camps. Pray that our children would grow strong in the Lord and for a mighty children's prayer network to be raised up in Whatcom!  Government Pray for Godly, capable people to be elected to offices at all levels of government, especially in the upcoming Whatcom county council election.   Pray for wisdom and fair decision making for law makers as they make and implement laws regarding our resources.  Pray for safety of patrolling police officers and jail personnel as they deal with mental illness induced violence. Also, pray for their families as the stresses of law enforcement can be devastating at home. Family  80% of children enter the foster system due to parental drug involvement. Please pray for a decrease in the supply lines of heroin and methamphetamine coming into our county. Ask the Lord to fill those needs with his Spirit and to draw the broken to Himself. Please continue to pray for an ending to abortion and an increased desire for adoption among the Church, that we will be ready to receive the abundance of children. Pray for affordable adoptions and healing care for biological parents. Please pray that we would grow in honor between the generations, being thankful of our heritage and loving the elderly well. Pray that Whatcom County would attract the elderly retirement not just because of the beautiful creation but that the Lord would be found here and many would find salvation in their last years of life. Pray for Poverty Reconsidered, a training on June 3rd for deacon teams, compassion ministry leaders and anyone interested in understanding and addressing poverty issues. Pray for a decrease in poverty related issues in our community. www.whatcomloveinc.org Education Pray for more mentors for our students so all kids feel loved by an adult, and so that we will better know how to meet our students' needs. (Psalm 82:3). Pray that the Holy Spirit would put it on the heart of each church to adopt a school to serve - in the Name of Jesus and in His resurrection power. (Acts 1:8) Pray for supernatural staff cohesion and passion for change that impacts the lives of our students, which can only happen if our teams are unified! (Psalm 133) Health Pray for the Health Ministry Network composed of Faith Community Nurses and Health Ministers centered at PHSJMC represented by many different churches and different expressions of faith.  Pray that they would be used by God to minister His love, care and light to our community. Pray for individuals with high healthcare costs to have relief from debt. Pray for renewal for those in the health-care field in the midst of fatigue and routine.  Pray that Christians in health-care would do everything as worship unto Jesus. Business Pray for business leaders to have wisdom in hiring new employees.  Pray for small businesses in Whatcom to prosper as cost of business increases Pray for business owners and employees to have consistent sabbath rest.  Media, Arts and Entertainment  Pray for PRAISE 1065 to have Holy Spirit inspiration in their programming resulting in an increase in testimonies and listeners. Please pray that the vision of the One Voice project - "united prayer and praise" - would grow in the church community. Pray for a host church, the funding, and promotion of this project Strategic Missions Pray for Project 92 missionaries in South India who are researching and evaluating a possible outreach to four un-Evangelized people groups. There are no known Christians among them.  Pray that God will send laborers to these peoples, draw many of them to Christ, and establish His Church among them. Pray for a growing group of Israeli believers who are boldly sharing the gospel and praying for the sick in the name of Jesus on the streets of Tel Aviv.  Pray that this group would be led by the Spirit in humility and unity, and that many hearts would be open to hear. Pray for new leaders, staff, and continued growth of our Lynden YWAM North Cascades base. Engedi Refuge Ministry had their most successful fundraiser to date, with standing room only. They raised just over $250,000 to continue and expand the ministry to survivors of sex-trafficking. Church: There were 300 plus salvations/re- dedications over Easter 2017 in local churches.   Media: The One Voice project has several songs recorded for the album and a launch/worship night scheduled for Nov 2017. Business Pray for business leaders to have wisdom in hiring new employees.  Pray for small businesses in Whatcom to prosper as cost of business increases Pray for business owners and employees to have consistent sabbath rest.  Media, Arts and Entertainment  Pray for PRAISE 1065 to have Holy Spirit inspiration in their programming resulting in an increase in testimonies and listeners. Please pray that the vision of the One Voice project - "united prayer and praise" - would grow in the church community. Pray for a host church, the funding, and promotion of this project Strategic Missions Pray for Project 92 missionaries in South India who are researching and evaluating a possible outreach to four un-Evangelized people groups. There are no known Christians among them.  Pray that God will send laborers to these peoples, draw many of them to Christ, and establish His Church among them. Pray for a growing group of Israeli believers who are boldly sharing the gospel and praying for the sick in the name of Jesus on the streets of Tel Aviv.  Pray that this group would be led by the Spirit in humility and unity, and that many hearts would be open to hear. Christy Tucker, LOWPC Staff "So, what is it like at the prayer center?"  This is the question I get asked the most.  It can seem rather mystical, intimidating, or boring...people in a room praying night and day.  Let me tell you what it is really like: First of all, it's real people.  It's soccer moms, college students just starting out in their journey, retirees who have loved Jesus for decades and continue to press on, men swinging by on a lunch break or before work... It's ministry leaders and those who just met Jesus.  It's everyday people that Jesus loves and who are created to be in real relationship with Him.  And we come for Him! Jesus said the Father is seeking worshipers who will worship Him in Spirit and in truth.  These are the kind of worshipers we want to be. Not "professional" worshipers, but authentic worshipers. While each meeting may be unique, there are some common threads that you will find each time we gather:  Christ exalting: Jesus is seated on the throne in Heaven, the Father has put all things under His feet. Not only that, but he loves us enough to die for us....There is no other being, whether angel or demon, or anything in all creation that is worthy of our focus like Jesus.  So at every meeting Jesus will be exalted above everything else. And let me tell you, it is amazing what happens to our hearts when we do that. Hearts that come in heavy with sorrow leave light with His peace and joy because we come to see things in the right perspective. Bible-based: The prayers we pray are not wishful thinking or our own ideas of what we want. They are based in the infallible and eternal word of God and His promises. That is infinitely better!  So we know they will get answered!  What's more is that as we pray prayers based on His word, we get to know how God thinks and feels, and get to know His heart. You don't have to be a bible scholar to find it, he made it simple enough for a child to understand. United: We can't possibly live a life of obedience to God without loving our brothers and sisters. One of the beautiful victories of the cross is that not only did it rend the veil separating us from the Father, but it also destroyed the dividing wall of hostility between peoples (Eph 2:14-15).  The unity of the Spirit and brotherly love we have comes not from ourselves but from God.  And we get to celebrate and practice this love and unity as we worship and pray together in the prayer room. We come together from different backgrounds, generations, cultures, and denominations, all equal at the cross, together lifting up one name: Jesus!  You get to know people's hearts in a beautiful way as you pray together!   Spirit-Led: It's our desire that every meeting would be lead by the Holy Spirit who was sent to be our guide, comforter and instructor, who takes the things that belong to Jesus and makes them known to us! WOW, think about that for a minute, what a gift!  You see, it is not just about sitting in a room at 714 E. Sunset Drive to say some prayers. It is about talking with the King of the Universe who invites us to come into His heavenly throne room to see His Kingdom come in important areas like our families, community and the nations.  Each meeting varies depending on the leader and the theme/topic, but basically we can narrow down the "types" of prayer meetings to three: Music Driven: These are led from the front with a worship team, with prayers being both sung and spoken between songs of praise and adoration.  It is a powerful time to sing with one voice and lift up Jesus as a whole group in the room. Round Circle Prayer: Some meetings we sit together and lift up prayers of intercession around a specific topic.  Everyone has space to add in their prayer as we agree together to see God's Kingdom come and His will be done. Devotional: Other times the room is filled with the melody of beautiful worship songs.  Each one in the room takes the time to slow down from the busy world, share our hearts with God, and listen for His. Each one prays from their own heart, meditating on the Word of God. It's a time to worship, adore, love, and be loved by Him. Many pastors are sharing pulpits this spring and summer, and 10 churches are participating in a Sunday morning service together for the annual Pentecost Gathering on May 28th.  Pray for our children's ministry teams and pastors as they gear up for the summer months, VBS's, and camps. Pray that our children would grow strong in the Lord and for a mighty children's prayer network to be raised up in Whatcom!  Government Pray for Godly, capable people to be elected to offices at all levels of government, especially in the upcoming Whatcom county council election.   Pray for wisdom and fair decision making for law makers as they make and implement laws regarding our resources.  Pray for safety of patrolling police officers and jail personnel as they deal with mental illness induced violence. Also, pray for their families as the stresses of law enforcement can be devastating at home. Family  80% of children enter the foster system due to parental drug involvement. Please pray for a decrease in the supply lines of heroin and methamphetamine coming into our county. Ask the Lord to fill those needs with his Spirit and to draw the broken to Himself. Please continue to pray for an ending to abortion and an increased desire for adoption among the Church, that we will be ready to receive the abundance of children. Pray for affordable adoptions and healing care for biological parents. Please pray that we would grow in honor between the generations, being thankful of our heritage and loving the elderly well. Pray that Whatcom County would attract the elderly retirement not just because of the beautiful creation but that the Lord would be found here and many would find salvation in their last years of life. Pray for Poverty Reconsidered, a training on June 3rd for deacon teams, compassion ministry leaders and anyone interested in understanding and addressing poverty issues. More than 38 churchesand ministries each take a day to pray for specific needs in our community.  We discover these needs through strategic teams made up of Christians leading and serving in various areas of Whatcom County. Together we are seeking God for His Kingdom to come and will to be done in Whatcom.  We have seen some powerful answers to prayer.  While we know there is more happening than we are even aware of, here are some of the recent answers to prayer: Church In 2016 there were 615 confirmed salvations with water baptism in local churches.                                        (Prayer Request from March/April 2016) 300 plus salvations/rededications on Easter 2017 in local churches.(Prayer Request from March/April 2017) In 2016, there were 7 new church plants in Whatcom County. (Prayer Request from Jan/Feb 2016) Inspired by the growing unity in the quarterly pastors' gatherings, 18 pastors will be partnering together to share their pulpits for a Sunday in 2017. The last pastors' meeting was the largest to date, with 80 pastors attending. (Prayer Request from Jan/Feb 2017) There have been 11 church plants, a Bible-training center, and 1,200 baptisms in Hispanic churches over the last six years. video testimony(Prayer Request from May/June 2016)   Business The Bellingham Herald reports steady job growth in Whatcom County with 1,200 jobs added in the last year. (Prayer Request from Jan/Feb 2016) Five of the Christian businesses we prayed for report experienced their best year to date in 2016. (Prayer Request from Jan/Feb 2016)   Family There is an increase in men praying together in our community. The men's prayer meetings Monday through Friday at the Prayer Center continue to grow, and a new men's prayer time has started in at least one church. (Prayer Request from May/June 2016) Skookum Kids has expanded with their own Child Placement Agency and currently has 4 homes providing care to foster children and 10 more homes in the process to start. (Prayer Request from May/June 2016) The number of abortions in Whatcom County continues to drop, another record yearly low of 402. (Prayer Request from March/April 2016) Hope4Justice is now a 501(c)(3), enabling them to continue their efforts to bring awareness and combat human trafficking in Whatcom County.                                 (Prayer Request from Jan/Feb 2017) The city has leased a downtown building to Light House Mission for $1, opening up more safe housing to meet the needs of the homeless and provide them opportunities to turn their lives around. (Prayer Request from Sept/Oct 2016)   Government Christians turned out to vote in large numbers.        (Prayer Request from May/June 2016) Two Christians were elected to represent Whatcom as State Representatives in Olympia.                           (Prayer Request from July/Aug 2016) Many Christians and pro-life candidates were elected to offices nation-wide. (Prayer Request from May/June 2016) Pro-life Judge Neil Gorsuch was confirmed to Supreme Court. (Prayer Request from March/April 2016) President Trump signed an executive order seeking to protect and uphold religious freedom.                    (Request from May/June 2016)   Education Mentorship programs have started for students in Nooksack and Lynden schools. (Prayer Request from Jan/Feb 2016) The Love Nooksack Valley pastors and leaders group put on a community wide gathering that was very well received and a great encouragement. LoveNV has served students and their families with a new mentorship program for students, new ways have been generated to get services to people in desperate circumstances (people without funds for gas to get to work, unable to heat their houses, and many other needs), and food banks have extended hours.                                    (Prayer Request from March/April 2016) There are several new believers in key positions on staff in Nooksack. (Prayer Request from May/June 2016) The Relate program was approved back into one of two school districts reviewing curriculum after new laws took effect.  They are continuing the process for approval with the second. (Prayer Request from March/April 2017) Media The One Voice project has several songs recorded for the album and a launch/worship night planned for early 2018. (Prayer Request from March/April 2016) Praise 106.5 reports a banner year with fundraising to support their ministry. (Prayer Request from Jan/Feb 2017) Once Voice team has an administrator who is helping to facilitate this project. (Prayer Request from July/Aug 2016)   Strategic Missions The training center in Nepal has now been nearly fully repaired. The February training cycle was successfully launched and completed. 10 students graduated, 3 of which went to pioneer mission fields in Nepal where the Gospel has never been preached. They are now endeavoring to plant churches in those places.       (Prayer Request from March/April 2016) God is actively at work to reach the people of India with the Gospel. We partnered together with the International Prayer Council,www.ipcprayer.org led by John Robb.  In John's words, "Together, we transacted business with the King of Kings for His world."    John Robb and the IPC council asked us at Light of the World Prayer Center to administrate and organize the event, together with his oversight and leadership! John is an amazing leader and it was truly an honor to work together with him! Jamie Frey, one of our full-time staff members, and I started planning back in August of 2016.  Over the next number of months we helped create a vision statement and set goals for the event, drafted an invitation email to key leaders, launched a website to share vision and process registrations,  and put together complete color program  booklets for the each of the delegates.   The impact of the Moravian community, both the intercessors and missionaries, is undoubtedly one of the greatest stories in church history! We have patterned our house of prayer and prayer strategy in the 'spirit of the Moravians.' Our vision is become a modern-day expression of this inspiring community, linking together night and day prayer, revival and mission to the remaining unreached, unengaged peoples on the earth! It was a such a joy to travel together as a family, Kristie, Gracelyn and Joshua. It was the first international trip for Gracie and Josh!  Kristie connected much with our amazing friend Sue Williams, sharing tea together and praying for one another. Sue served with us for a year at LOWPC as our staff development leader and now is one of the primary leaders at the Jesus Haus (house of prayer and retreat center where the Consultation gathered). Gracie sang with Sue on the worship team on Wednesday night, and Joshua helped Michael Lienau in capturing the Moravian story on video. We are praying for the provision to produce a full-length documentary on the history of the Moravians!   After the conference and on the way to Bethlehem Chapel in Prague, Czech Republic, Josh and I, together with Colin Milar (a key South African prayer leader) had the honor of leading our Uber driver, Thomas, to the Lord...Glory! On our way home, I had the honor of taking my daughter, Gracelyn, to the Eiffel tower in Paris to celebrate her 16th birthday!  We had an amazing time together, such fun!    Mark Iblings, LOWPC board president, and Tim Scott, one of my prayer partners and our Education sphere leader both came to help serve the 120 leaders, carrying bags and escorting/driving many of them around during the event! They were such a huge help!   Tom Victor, director of the Great Commission Coalition, who serves as one of our advisory board members also joined us. From Tom's perspective, "The International Prayer and Mission Leaders Consultation in Herrnhut was, from my perspective, one of the most powerful mission and prayer gatherings of our day. Bringing together key leaders from the global prayer and mission movements as well as leaders of the children in prayer and youth prayer movements was so strategic, especially in light of the history and heritage of the Moravians and Herrnhut."   http://files.constantcontact.com/6dff2371301/8f29ae52-913c-4cf1-8b8..." align="right"/>Paul Wemmer, author, historian, and one of our original leaders at LOWPC, was also with us and donated a copy of his book on Count Zinzendorf and the Moravians to each of the 120 delegates.     Serving together with Jamie Frey, Mark Iblings, Tim Scott, Tom Victor, Paul Wemmer, Sue Williams, and our on-site intercessors in Whatcom County...What a joy!  I am so proud of our team...All for the Glory of the Lamb!   The vision for the consultation was to gather key mission and prayer leaders from around the world to ask God how the global prayer and mission movements could unite in our day - to accelerate the fulfillment of the Great Commission. I have personally never been in a gathering before with such humble men and women of God, young and old, who truly longed to encounter the Lord together, and grow in loving and serving one another!  Dick Eastman, the president of Every Home for Christ, was one of the 120 leaders. The ministry of Every Home for Christ sees about 20,000 decisions for Christ every day around the world, giving Dick a unique perspective. After the consultation he wrote, "I am more convinced than ever that the Moravian movement of prayer and missions was the greatest such movement in the history of missions, especially in light of the challenges they faced in that unique time in human history." Dick shared that this gathering was "the most personally significant gatherings he had been a part of in his 5 decades of full-time ministry." Wow! We sensed the Lord's leading to gather in historic Herrnhut, Germany to learn from the Moravian story of a canopy of 100 years of continual prayer, beginning in 1727, which launched the start of a Protestant Missions Movement across the earth!  At its core, the motivation and watchword of the Moravian prayer and missions movement was this: "May the Lamb who was slain receive the due reward of his sufferings!"  He is truly All-Deserving! As we walked through the Moravian cemetery (pictured here), we were on historic ground.  The graves here honor 6000 intercessors and missionaries who had fully embraced God's heart for missions. They had joyfully taken the gospel to those who had never heard, many at the cost of their lives. These radical Moravian missionaries launched over 5000 missionary settlements around the world!     The legacy of Count Nicholas Zinzendorf, the leader of the Moravian prayer and missions movement, is astounding.  Zinzendorf was famous for saying, "I have but one passion, and that is Jesus, only He." The seal of the Moravian church has in its center the white Lamb of God .  He holds a staff with a victory banner displaying the cross.  In a circular band on the outer edge it says: "Our Lamb has conquered, let us follow Him!"   During the consultation, descendants of the Moravians shared with us about the lifestyle of prayer and missions that emerged in Herrnhut, and the powerful role that children and youth played in the movement. It was truly an honor to be with the elders and leaders of both the church and the Jesus Haus. We love them and stand with them as they continue to see day and night prayer and worship established together with the sending of missionaries to the ends of the earth to share the good news of Jesus!  A request went out to leaders of children in prayer around the world, asking them to pray as we met in Herrnhut. 1,000 Royal Kids in Chennai, India, committed to pray for 100 hours and then added another 50 hours while we met!  Royal Kids Praying for the Herrnhut Gathering We were so aware of the prayers of thousands of children around the world.  It was an honor to meet and learn from Anton Cruz, the leader of this amazing orphanage in Chennai, India.  Here is a powerful video clip of the children praying for our gathering!  Paul Eshleman,with Campus Crusade for Christ, (CRU), founded the Jesus Film Project, the most watched movie in the world. He currently serves as the Executive Director of Finishing the Task Network and as President of the Issachar Initiative, passionately calling us to make our lives Count for Zero, that there would be Zero unreached people groups without a witness for Christ.   Paul challenged us with research showing that, with more than 2.7 unreached people, Asia is the focal point for the global mission challenge. While other regions of the world have on average one missionary for every 1,000 unreached people, Asia has only one missionary for every 46,000 unreached people! There are currently 1570 remaining unreached/unengaged people groups yet to hear the good news of Jesus, and 521 of the largest remaining unreached people groups on the world map have over 500,000!  We also learned that 90 percent of the missionary force and finances today goes towards the reached world. We came away with the passionate conviction and cry, "Lord of the Harvest, send forth laborers into the remaining harvest fields of the world!" (Matt. 9:37) A final personal highlight for me was gathering together at the Bertlesdorf church. This historic church, known as the church of reconciliation, is where the Holy Spirit was poured out among the Moravians, young and old, in a powerful way during a communion service on August 13th, 1727.  We celebrated communion together there, and reconciliation took place on several fronts! I truly believe we experienced a 'baptism of love' for one another. Coming away from the gathering, we had such a sense of family and affection for one another, desiring to continue to partner together in prayer and mission across our various denominations, generations and nations!  The Lord truly knit our hearts together and I believe much fruit will come in the generations to follow! "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.  By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:34-35).  We only love to the degree that his love, most fully revealed at the cross, is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Rom. 5:5). Just as Zinzendorf and the Moravians were compelled by the Glory and Love of the Lamb, to pray 24/7 and go on mission, I believe the Lord is calling forth a "Lamb's Reformation" in the church in this hour - a new reformation that will lead to a great transformation!   Lamb's Reformation Prayer: "Father, I believe that the hour has come for your Son, the Lord Jesus to be honored, and treasured as the Worthy Lamb who was slain! Even as the Lamb is in the center of the throne in Heaven, we declare and decree that it's time for the Lamb to become the center of the throne on the earth! Father, we know that you are always looking at the wounds of your Son and we ask for a Lamb's Reformation in the church that would wake us up again to his cross, to bring your Son the reward he deserves for giving his life as a Lamb!"    "Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, 'Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power, and wealth, and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing" (Rev. 5:11-12). Pray that many will come to Christ, be healed, and delivered! Pray for a pastors' prayer gathering with Lummi nation tribal leaders. Pray also that a public apology to First Nations people from the US Government and church being planned would be used in bring healing, reconciliation and point people to Jesus!  Government Pray for true repeal of Obamacare with de-funding of Planned Parenthood; pray that the church will rise up to protect life and stand against abortion and the sale of body parts while caring for women. Pray that Christians will turn out in November to elect godly, wise people for the Whatcom County Council. Family  Please pray for the families of Whatcom County as we enter the summer season. Pray that it would be a season of resting in the Lord and reconciliation among families. As Psalm 126:2 says, "Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, 'The Lord has done great things for them'."  May the overflow of the Holy Spirit pour forth out of the church onto the unsaved drawing many into the Kingdom of God this summer.  Lord, send forth the laborers! Please pray for the many camps, Vacation Bible Schools, and church outreaches throughout our county this summer. May the Lord move in power opening doors for salvation, healing, and deliverance among our young people.  May He put a new song in their hearts. Pray for the Firs/Fir Creek, ReBound/Ray of Hope, Royal Family Kids Camp, Warm Beach, Skookum/Perch and Play, Lutherwood, Child Evangelism Outreach, Go Camp, and VBS camps in many churches. Education Pray for the school adults to be rejuvenated and for administrators to have godly wisdom as they hire new staff. Praise God, mentoring programs are increasing in our schools.  Pray for Be the One Community Mentoring Program, which needs $56,000 to expand its student mentoring care to over 100 students in the Lynden School District.  They are also in discussion for expanding their program into the Ferndale School district.  Health Pray for Christian doctors and nurses to gather together in prayer, encouraging one another, and bringing Christ into their workplaces. Pray for encouragement and refreshment of healthcare workers, that they would not "burn out" or be overwhelmed by the needs they face. Business Pray for the moratorium on wells to be lifted in Whatcom County.  Pray for prayer meetings in and among business leaders to grow and multiply.  Media, Arts and Entertainment  Pray that the radio hosts on PRAISE 1065 would be led by God in their commentary and music selection, resulting in salvations and encouragement of many people. Pray for anointing on songs, song writers and the whole recording process for One Voice Project.  Pray for wisdom and provision for this project. Strategic Missions Pray for Project 92: "In mid-July 22 Asian students will graduate from a 6-month intensive discipleship and missionary-training school in Nepal.  Some will go to pioneer mission fields where the Gospel has never been preached.  Pray that God will give them great focus, faith, fervency, faithfulness, and tenacity as they step out. Pray for the unreached people groups in Whatcom County, that God would send and equip his missionaries to the Lummi, Nooksack, and Sikh People. Check out our website for testimony videos, Featured Teachings and more www.LOWPC.org Weekly Prayer Room schedule Jesus the Redeemer Dr. Jason Hubbard, Director, LOWPC  United Praise  Jean Caspari, LOWPC Staff "Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise!  Praise Him, bless His Name.  For the LORD is good.  His loving kindness endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations" Psalm 100:4&5.   As we enter into the season of the harvest, we look upon the face of our Great Shepherd and Redeemer, and we give Him thanks for His divine grace and acceptance.  We the redeemed and blessed of the Almighty cannot keep silent, when we consider that we are the works of His hands, the sheep of His pasture, a redeemed people bought with His very own life. Who can but praise Him?  The only appropriate response is giving God praise and thanks.  In this harvest season, let us come together to make a joyful noise unto our God and to minister to Him with gladness.  Our response aligns to the very command that God told His people in Deuteronomy 6 and again in Matthew 22:37, "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind."  For when we look up into Jesus' countenance and lift up our voices of thanksgiving to God, He looks down on us with favor and grace and His glory comes down to us - His very Presence.  For we know that God is the lover of our souls.  Our souls will not be satisfied apart from God, Himself.    On October 13-14, the Light of the World Prayer Center  is launching a monthly expression of unified worship from 8pm Friday night to 8am Saturday morning. The churches in Whatcom County have experienced an extraordinary unity in prayer and intercession through the Day2Pray initiative. It is thus altogether fitting that we come together in unified worship to our God for who He is and what He has done. Let us make a joyful noise unto our Creator and minister to Him with gladness for we were made through Him, by Him, and for Him.  When we consider the works of His hands, we have a thousand reasons to bless the LORD and to sing a new song of praise to Him day and night.   The courts of heaven sing the song of the Lamb's victory, a song of salvation to the earth.  Let us here on the earth join heaven to sing that great song of the Lamb.. For the Almighty has declared the end from the beginning.  "A great multitude which no man can number from every nation, and family, and people, and tongue stand before the Ancient of Days and the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palms in their hands, and cried with a loud voice, 'Salvation to our God, who sits upon the throne and to the Lamb.'  All the angels stood round about the throne, and the elders and the four beasts fell before the throne on their faces and worshipped God, saying, 'Amen! Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen!" (Revelation 7:9-12). Isaiah 57:15 Pray for 62 churches in the county that will commit to a day to pray once a month every month (2 per day). This would be about half the churches in the county committed to building a canopy of united, strategic and sustainable prayer.  Pray for the next Pastors Praying for Pastors meeting on Sept. 27th Government Please pray for Godly wisdom and leadership in our government with North Korea, for cultural and racial issues in our nation, for healthcare, and other important issues. Please pray for our City Councils, that God would fill them with his wisdom and lead them in his priorities. Please pray for our general election in Whatcom County on November 7th. Pray for Godly candidates and bills to be selected. Family  Please pray for protection over Whatcom County Pregnancy Clinic as they ask for favor in legislation, open doors for school programs, and truth to be made known. Continue to pray for the ending of abortion and that the church will continue to rise up to receive children and love birth parents.  Pray that we would see an increase of families in church this fall pursuing Jesus and they would be encouraged to pray in their homes together as family units. Education Pray for the Christian schools in Whatcom County - Bellingham Christian, Evergreen, Lynden Christian, Ebenezer, for a spirit of unity, and the finances to launch a Bellingham Christian High School.  Pray for youth to join adults at the Prayer Center on Mondays at 4:30 to pray for education. Pray that parents, teachers, grandparents and students will pray together for God to be glorified in the schools.  Pray for a clear godly identity for each student and pray for protection from the gender identity confusion in our society. Health Pray for God's leadership on our health team as they form a vision for how to serve Health professionals in Whatcom County. Pray for a comprehensive national health care bill to be passed that would honor God. Business Pray that God would bless Christian business leaders and Christian owned businesses: Woods Coffee, OverEasy, Moncrieff Construction, Faithlife, Superfeet, and others.  Pray that rental costs would be affordable in Whatcom and that landlords would be fair in pricing.   Media, Arts and Entertainment  Pray for the Whatcom Story Part 2 video project, a video that highlights the impact from the Day2Pray strategy. The first video has had global impact, inspiring other cities and countries to start similar prayer in their cities. Continue to pray for the One Voice project. Please pray for continued unity for worshipers of Whatcom, and the Lord's provision for this project including bringing in 7 visual artists and videographer. Social Services Pray for an increased number of Christian volunteers to serve with nonprofits and for those who will commit to support nonprofit workers in prayer and encouragement.  Pray for the social service team as they have begun praying weekly; pray that the team would grow. Pray for Christian leaders and staff working in social services to have a strong vibrant prayer life, resting in Him and looking to Jesus as Alpha and Omega.  Strategic Missions Project 92 is partnering with a grass-roots ministry in Bangladesh which is targeting a largely-unreached Buddhist tribe. Pray that God will establish His church among the Buddhist tribe in Bangladesh, that it will be a vibrant and outreaching one, and that hundreds more people will come to Christ! Pray for Christians to be raised up to minister to unreached people groups in our County including Lummi, Nooksack, Sikh. Pray for increased support for missionaries through churches in Whatcom County. Dr. Jason Hubbard  Lamb's Reformation Sermon  Lamb's Reformation 2017   Today, Oct 31st 2017 marks the 500yr anniversary of the Reformation when Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the Wittenberg door and courageously took his stand for the unchanging gospel!  A reformation is the action or process of reforming an institution or practice. A focal point of the Protestant Reformation was the Bible being translated and made available in the common language of the people.  We are grateful to God for Luther and his fellow reformers, who courageously clarified the gospel and catalyzed its spread throughout the world. These Reformers labored together in the power of God's Spirit for the glory of God's name. They challenged the false teachings of their day and fought for a recovery of the true gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel of our salvation is by Grace Alone, through Faith Alone, and in Christ Alone.   This Reformation was centered on the glory of God Alone. The great reformer John Calvin helped the church recover a passion for the majesty of God, calling the church to see and to savor the glory of God in Christ! As Calvin says, "The need for the Reformation was fundamentally this: Rome had destroyed the glory of Christ in many ways. The reason the church was carried about with so many strange doctrines was because the 'excellence of Christ' was not being perceived by us" (Portrait of Calvin, 9).   This year we want to pray for a Lamb's Reformation to help shift the church back to honoring the sacrifice of Christ!  It's our desire to see the church in our day fully reformed, alive to the Supremacy of Christ in all things!  Let's cry out for a God-breathed, Lamb-Awakening movement where God's Spirit uses God's Word to re-awaken God's people back to God's Son as the Lamb of Glory! May the Lamb who was slain receive the due reward of his sufferings.   "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!" -Rev. 5:12   I believe it is time for the church to return to Christ as the Lamb of Love, the Lamb of Glory.  As we approach the end of the age, we must see and encounter the face of Jesus as the Lamb!  Twenty-eight times in the book of revelation, Jesus is revealed as the Lamb of Glory!  We need to bury our hearts in his wounds until our lives are transformed from glory to glory, for indeed 'every wound bleed's glory.'   I believe it's time to behold the Lamb of Glory, until our hearts are wounded by the Wounded One! As Spurgeon writes, "When we see the Lord pierced, the piercing of our hearts begins."[i]   Could the Holy Spirit be holding back the coming wave of glory until we are gripped with a passion for the Lamb, the One from whom Glory flows? The Father is always looking at the wounds of his Son, and I believe He is asking the church when will you allow your hearts to be scarred by the sacrifice of My Son as the Lamb?  When will you give my Son the reward he deserves for his suffering?   Let's Pray,   Father, we believe that the hour has come for your Son, the Lord Jesus to be honored, and treasured as the Worthy Lamb who was slain! Five years ago we released our first Whatcom Story video, describing some of the transformation results in Whatcom County!  God used this Whatcom Story video testimony to inspire and catalyze united prayer in our community and in other cities in our nation.   This summer we embarked on capturing Whatcom Story Part 2 to help clarify the vision, and show the sustainability of transformation through united, day and night prayer! Our vision is to build and strengthen canopies of United, Strategic, and Sustainable 24/7 prayer here in Whatcom County and beyond!  Our motivation is to win for the Lamb who was slain the due reward for his sufferings!   The Whatcom Story - Part 2  A special thanks to Global Net Productions for their amazing work! As the Church in Whatcom County has been equipped and mobilized in prayer through the ministry of LOWPC since 2008, we have seen Jesus answer in powerful ways locally: 2,000 hours of committed prayer each month both at the prayer center and with the 40 churches that commit to a day of prayer once a month every month! 10,000 new believers have been baptized since 2008, with more each passing week! 80 new churches were planted in Whatcom County, loving and serving the community. 80 pastors from different denominations, cultures and generations are uniting together in regular prayer gatherings. God has established a highly successful safe-house ministry for women survivors of human trafficking, restoring hope and bringing salvation to the broken. The Church of Whatcom is responding to the foster care crisis; orphans are finding home.  and many more! Featured Video - Click/tap image to watch Show UP - Government sphere video Abiding in this Season Jason Hubbard, Executive Director, LOWPC   Jesus clearly spoke to us that we can nothing apart from him!  As John 15:4 says, "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me." The essential meaning of our abiding is the act of receiving and trusting all that God is for us in Christ. It is trusting in Jesus, remaining in fellowship with Jesus, connecting to Jesus so that all that God is for us in him is flowing like a life-giving sap into our lives. That's number one: abiding is believing, trusting, savoring, resting, and receiving. The Lord has challenged me these last few months in three areas of abiding. First abiding in his love, second abiding in his Word, and third abiding in his wounds.  All of this requires "Unhurried Space" in our lives to receive and remain! As Jesus said, Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV), "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Rest is not a reward for faithfulness - it is a pre-requisite for fruitfulness. Abiding in His Love As Jesus said in John 15:9, "As the Father has loved me so I love you. Abide in my love." The same measure of love, of delight, pleasure, commitment, dedication and enjoyment that the Father has in the Son, the Son has in you and I!  As we believe and receive that love it pours out in love for one another! Mark 3:13-14 says, "and then Jesus went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him. And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach and have authority to cast out demons."  He called those he wanted and desired. He called them first to be with Him and second to preach the gospel and cast out demons with authority!  This is true for us as well! Let's learn first that he desires us to be with Him in the place of prayer. Out of that place of intimacy and friendship we go forth and proclaim his great good news to all the world! Intimacy that leads to Impact! Abiding in his Word John 8:31-32 (ESV), "So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."  Abiding in the vine means receiving and believing and trusting in the words of Jesus. His word sanctifies us, renews us, cleanses us, and transforms us into his very likeness! Encountering God in his Word leads to Transformation! Let's get into the text of God's Word until the text get's into us!   Abiding in his Wounds John 6:55-56 (ESV), "For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him."  According to Jesus, one of the most practical ways to grow in a lifestyle of abiding is to abide in his wounds. We are called to long and loving meditation on the crucified Christ and all that he has done for us at the cross!  He calls us to feast on his body and his blood, to remember, to give thanks, and to eat and drink in all that the Word of God declares to us of the crucified Christ! May our hearts be pierced through by the "Pierced One." Finally, the goal of abiding is the glory of God. John 15:8 says, "By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples." The whole design of our not being the vine, but being utterly dependent branches grafted into the vine, is to give glory to God. The bottom line is, hour by hour, day by day let us receive and rest in the outrageous love of God revealed through his Word to us and his Wounds for us!  He gets the Glory and we get the Joy!   Amen and Amen! Pray for leaders, host homes and the re-launch of weekly Christ-exalting, Spirit-led, gospel-driven small groups in the fall. Pray for new leaders and discipleship groups to form.  Government Please pray for the upcoming November election, that Christians would be informed and vote. Pray that we as believers would see citizenship as an important stewardship. Pray for the confirmation and election of godly judges in our Supreme Court. Family Please pray for our church families as we enter the fall season, that prayer would be the center of our homes. Please pray that we would disciple our children in the ways of the Lord, creating healthy boundaries to keep us focused in relationship with God. Pray for the Stand Against Slavery event happening on November 3. Pray that many would come to join in prayer against sexual exploitation and for setting captives free. Please pray for the exposure of human trafficking. Also, pray for ministry to develop in our county to meet the needs of trafficking victims under age 21. Business Pray for the labor market that God would bring the right people to the right job as many companies are struggling to find the "right" employees and labor workers. Pray for businesses that are passing off leadership to the next generation. Pray for understanding and new life into those businesses.  Pray for housing costs to level out and/or affordable options for those people "priced out" of the housing market.   Media Pray for the "One Voice Creates" team which is a multi-church group of artists that helped organize the One Voice Project. Pray for protection as some family emergencies have taken place and that this group would take root this Fall. Also, pray that worship leaders would enter the fall with renewed passion and full tanks.  Please pray for PRAISE 106.5 listeners to be blessed through the music and host stories on the radio. May those feeling empty be led to the station and encouraged through their content.  Health Pray for those with limited medical options, for healing and wisdom on the doctors who care for them. Pray that churches would adopt elderly in extended care facilities. Education Please pray that Christian students, staff, and parents would seek wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God to love and live for Jesus without compromise (Psalms 50:23 & Ephesians 1:17) and that they would be known by a spirit of thankfulness. (Psalm 50:14) Pray for a covering of safety over all schools (Psalm 91) and for the development of a Christian High school in Bellingham.  Social Services Pray for God's vision for transformation in the Social Service team and non-profits in our county, that God would be the head of it all. Please pray for a wall of protection for nonprofit service agencies and leaders as they experience spiritual warfare: Love INC, Skookum Kids, Engedi Refuge, Rebound, Whatcom Pregnancy Clinic, Lighthouse Mission, Men of Dignity, Envision Mission, Hope House, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services (DVSAS) and many more. Strategic Missions Indigenous efforts are being made to translate and contextualize select Bible stories in hopes of being able to use them in sharing the Gospel message to an unreached tribe in Bangladesh.  Pray that God will bless these efforts, that many people will respond, and that the church will be established among this tribe. Yemen is recognized as the worst humanitarian disaster in the world in 2018. Huge numbers of people are facing starvation, including well over a million children. Evil atrocities darken daily life during civil war. Join Jesus and Yemeni mothers in intercession for their children according to Lam. 2:18-19 and into the hope of Lam. 3:21-26.
