Sadie Robertson is one - hear her remarks below.     Sadie Robertson on Her and Justin Bieber's Faith     Update:       Pray for Steve Wistar and Family Three years ago we prayed for healing for one of Hollywood’s most faithful prayer warriors, Steve Wistar. He was miraculously healed and had 3 ½ great years with his wife and son. But his brain cancer has returned with a vengeance and is now inoperable. Let’s pray for this man of God who has made an eternal difference for all of us in Hollywood because of his prayers. And please pray for Steve’s wife Melanie and their little boy as they prepare to say goodbye. Their response to our prayers is “Thank you, thank you!”        Requests:     Jill Messick Pray for the family, friends, and associates of Jill Messick, a 50 year old producer and studio executive, who committed suicide last week in response to her dealings with the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal. May her family and friends find peace and solace in God as they grieve this tragedy. We also need to pray for the other women who can’t handle the blame, shame and anger attached to these disturbing incidents. May the Lord protect these broken people and turn this time into good, healing and breakthrough for everyone impacted.     Jill's Life and Story   Women in Hollywood As you pray for these women who continue to speak out about sexual harassment and/or abuse, listen tothis powerful song by Kesha that reflects the struggle that so many people are working through. It’s an exciting announcement at the beginning of this month and yet immediately many Christians jumped in with judgment, criticism and questioning his sincerity. Let’s pray for Snoop Dogg and not against him. We want to rejoice in his spiritual journey and embrace his desire to sing about God. As you pray, read below.   Snoop Dogg's Album "Bible of Love"   Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers Pray for Tom Hanks as he prepares to play the wonderful Mister Rogers in an upcoming biopic. You Are My Friend is a movie going into production soon about the amazing PhD, Christian and TV personality, Fred Rogers. Ask the Lord to touch Tom’s heart as he plays this man who had a beautiful, eternal impact on children across the globe for decades.       Mister Rogers Biopic   Pray for A Wrinkle In Time Pray for the impact that the soon-to-be-released Disney feature film, A Wrinkle In Time, can have on audiences all over the world when it is released on March 9th. The Director, Ava DuVernay, is a powerful African American female role model because of her great talent, success and heart to help and inspire others through her work. The film is based on the book by Madeleine L’Engle, whose works all reflect her strong faith. To learn more, watch below.   "A Wrinkle In Time" Trailer   Pray for the film A New Spirit Pray for the Israeli filmmaker Doron Eran, who produced and directed the film A New Spirit, a faith-based film telling the true story of Yacov Damkani, an Israeli who became a Christian. The film has been very well received in Israel and yet has become one of the country’s most controversial films due to its subject matter. So we ask that it continues to touch the hearts of audiences all over Israeli and the Middle East, without causing more division. As you pray, read more details below.   Israel's Controversial Film   Pray for The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection Pray for the team of believers who are producing the sequel to The Passion of the Christ. The new film, currently called The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection is written by Randall Wallace, directed by Mel Gibson and starring Jim Caviezel.   More Info on the Film   Pray for Bruno Mars Pray for Bruno Mars, the artist who won the most awards at the Grammys last month. Bruno is only 32 years old and he is at the top of his game. Pray for the Lord to touch his heart, to protect him from destructive choices and to surround him with loving, wise, godly people who can lead him into the Lord’s arms. Pray for the Lord to show Bruno, a music icon, who he is in God’s eyes. He was quoted in Rolling Stone magazine as saying that his “insecurity has him second-guessing everything”.  As you pray for him, read this article.   Bruno Mars' Grammy Wins   Pray for our Oscars Prayer Walk Pray for HPN’s and ACT ONE’s 10th annual Oscars Prayer Walk on Thursday, March 1st on the site of the Oscars at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. PRAISES: • Cessna Prayer Flight Thurs., http://gallery.mailchimp.com/98eec211459dede1bb5349f93/images/3f994..." width="138"/>April 17th, HPN took our first PRAYER PLANE RIDE OVER HOLLYWOOD.  A friend of HPN who pilots a Cessna, took Karen and two HPN members to fly over our city and pray for the studios, networks, production companies, agencies and post houses.  It was a powerful way to imagine how God sees all of us here, at the same time and is lovingly watching all of us.  We know our prayers made an eternal difference, so may you pray with us for more opportunities to bring prayer warriors above the city in a plane or a helicopter, to pray specific prayers from God’s perspective!  Thank you Thom, John and Kathleen for being a part of our premiere flight!   • National Day of Prayer, May 1st 2014   On May 1st, Hollywood experienced the 21st annual amazing Hollywood National Day of Prayer gathering, again on a CBS Television sound stage, where hundreds of industry professionals praised and worshiped God, prayed for our country, nation, state and the http://gallery.mailchimp.com/98eec211459dede1bb5349f93/images/baa95..." width="201"/>entertainment industry, along with a rich time of personal prayer.  The worship was led by the amazing Tracy Thomas Band and the prayer leaders came from every denomination, all over the city, to lead the group in 2 hours of prayer and worship!  We praise God for another powerful night and we thank everyone involved for volunteering their time, talent and resources to make it happen!  The theme was UNITY and we experienced it that evening.    • Unity in the Hollywood Christian Community  Let’s keep praying for Unity in our Christian Hollywood Community: “Dear Heavenly Father, we pray that your church in Hollywood, with unity and in the beauty of its diversity, may do its part to live in the light of Christ – so Hollywood may form a multitude of hearts and minds for YOU! AMEN.”  Father Don Woznicki, St. Dorothy Church   REQUESTS: • Biblical Movies   Over 100 movies based on biblical themes have been produced throughout the last century in Hollywood.  But we’re experiencing a new surge this year. Continue to pray for the growing number of Bible based films that are being released around the world, including Son of God, Noah, God’s Not Dead and Heaven Is for Real, with more in production or ready for release, including Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings, starring Christian Bale as Moses, Left Behind, starring Nicholas Cage, and a Ben Hur remake, produced by MGM & Paramount. See the full list of films that come from the Bible HERE! • Noah   To show the unbelievable impact that the Bible and/or the media has on our nation, The LA Times just announced that the name NOAH is now the #1 top name for baby boys born in the United States.  Noah replaced an even more revered name, Jacob, also from the Old Testament, which has been the # 1 name for boys for the past 13 consecutive years.  Let’s continue to pray for the impact that films, TV shows and music have on our country and that the Bible, and the people in it, will have the greatest influence of all!   • BBC's Noah   Our HPN friends in England have asked us to pray for the impact for both the audience and the cast, crew and staff of the BBC version of NOAH. Click HERE for more info!    • Professional Industry Women With Cancer  Pray for two professional women in our industry who have just recently been diagnosed with severe breast cancer.  Both ladies want to keep their identities confidential, but they are leaders in our industry, in the world of comedy.  Would you ask the Lord to touch their lives and let them be shining lights for Him through His miraculous, healing hand.   • Celebrities in Hollywood  Pray for the celebrities in Hollywood – regardless of their faith.  Some are Christians, some are New Age, some are Agnostics and some are Atheists, and God loves them all.  Here’s an ARTICLE to remind us whom we can be praying for.   • Christians in Hollywood  Pray for the Christians in Hollywood to look at their work as missional and that they can make an impact in someone’s life every day.  More and more Christians in Hollywood are realizing that they are in the world’s most influential mission field, and every smile, every encouraging word, every act of kindness and every prayer can eternally change someone’s life.  But shouldn’t we all see our lives as missional, if we are following Christ as a New Testament Christian?  Here’s a fun VIDEO reminder from Phil Robertson, star of Duck Dynasty.   • 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival   Please pray for the people attending the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival, the largest International Film Festival in the world.  Hundreds of Americans attend to promote, market http://gallery.mailchimp.com/98eec211459dede1bb5349f93/images/c8458..." width="137"/>and sell their new films and it’s brimming with global celebrities, executives, buyers, sellers and the Press.  This year, the Festival began yesterday, May 14th and runs through May 25th.  Please join us in asking God to be present in the screenings, the deals, the parties and the relationships.  For more information on Cannes clickHERE!    • Musicians in Billboard Music Awards  Let’s pray for the musicians, performers and staff of the Billboard Music Awards airing live this Sunday, May 18th on ABC.  It will be taped from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and it highlights the hottest bands and recording artists in our country. Rihanna, Britney Spearshttp://gallery.mailchimp.com/98eec211459dede1bb5349f93/images/bf3a8..." width="175"/>, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Lorde, Ariana Grande, Izzy Azalea, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood are some of the performing artists at the show whom we need to be praying for.  May the Lord be glorified and may everyone there experience His presence.  Music is one of the greatest influences on our young people today, so whether or not you know anything about today’s hot young artists, please be praying for them, their lives, their hearts and their influence!  For more info on the BBMA, clickHERE!   • Musicians in Hollywood  Please pray for the Lord to come in and touch the artists who are struggling, discouraged and living the typically difficult lives that most artists have in our world.  And in Hollywood, the glitz and glamour that the rest of the world sees is only a mirage, in comparison to the lack of work, the broken relationships, the foreclosures, the addictions, the unemployment and the despair. Working in Hollywood is NOT what you think.  As you pray, here is an excerpt from A letter to a young songwriter, from Mary Gauthier: “You’ve watched your musical heroes take the stage to thunderous applause, adulation and love, and you burn for that, for yourself, and you want to be a professional writer of songs. The songwriting call has whispered in your ears for years now, and you’ve decided to answer it. You are ready to embrace it, to begin your journey as a songwriter. But be warned: the life of a songwriter is not what you think….” Would you be willing to pass this email on to one other person whom you think may be willing to pray for Hollywood?  And then tell them we’d love to have them praying with us monthly. Our greatest prayer at HPN is to grow our team of pray-ers, and those who are willing to even get more involved with us; being a one-to-one prayer partner, joining our incognito team, praying through our monthly Kids and Teens Prayer Calendar, starting a local prayer group in your area or just spreading the word to pray for Hollywood. Hollywood Prayer Network Rolls Out 'The Summons: Hollywood' to Intercede for the World's Most Influential Mission Field   More than 200 prayer missionaries, intercessors and Christian leaders to bridge the gap between the Church and Hollywood Contact: Daniella Romero, Hollywood Prayer Network, 323-462-8486,[e-mail]  LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christians everywhere are being called to pray for Hollywood more than ever, but up until recently only a few had committed to use prayer as a strategic, game-changing means to turn the entertainment capital of the world back to the living God, biblical values and decency.  However, prayer for arts and entertainment is expected to increase exponentially with a historic gathering of laser-focused, high-powered prayer teams in October in Los Angeles called "The Summons: Hollywood."  The Hollywood Prayer Network has joined with the National Day of Prayer Task Force to bring together and mobilize hundreds of Christian prayer missionaries, intercessors and ministry leaders from across the United States.  They are dedicating themselves to shift the spiritual atmosphere of Hollywood through intensive, persistent prayer.  Attendees will pray at studios in Hollywood, with media executives, actors and producers.  Among the featured speakers will be Shirley Dobson, Chair of the National Day of Prayer Task Force; Dave Butts, Chairman of the National Prayer Committee; John Bornschein, Vice Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force; and DeVon Franklin, a high-level studio executive and author of the book "Produced by Faith."  The event will also include practical teaching to equip the prayer leaders to go back to their states to spark a new passion among Christians nationwide to pray for Hollywood. The Summons: Hollywood is a solemn assembly to set the stage for a new move of God in Hollywood that hasn't been seen for more than 75 years in the world's most influential mission field.  "The Summons is intended to bridge the gap between the church and the entertainment industry," said Karen Covell, founding director of the Hollywood Prayer Network.  "Where spiritual darkness resides, there also will the light of Jesus Christ shine ever so brighter.  Christians should not write off Hollywood or cut themselves off from this highly influential mission field, but rather they should dedicate themselves to pray for the people in Hollywood, including movie stars, directors, producers, screenwriters, among others, Christians and non-Christians alike." Dear Hollywood Prayer Network members,    Last week was the best and most encouraging week  the HPN community has had in Hollywood in the past  33 years!  A miraculous event happened that will  encourage all of you to know both what answered  prayers we have experienced, and how you can more  strategically pray for us in the future.  October 1 – 5, 2014 was a breakthrough week in Hollywood and it’s so exciting to give you just a mere summary of everything that God did as He showed up in a new way.  As you read, please praise God for who He is, thank Him for what He’s doing in our entertainment community and continue to pray for both the Prayer Ninjas and the Industry Professionals who are now working in Unity to make an eternal difference in Hollywood.  Here’s why it was such an amazing week:   190 National Prayer Leaders came to Hollywood from around the country for the National Day of Prayer Hollywood SUMMONS (Click HERE for website) – some with great excitement, but many of them with questions, anger, hesitancy or outright disdain.  And yet all our prayers were answered when every one of these amazing people left with a new love, understanding, compassion and desire to pray for the people, the projects and the issues in Hollywood.  And we all fell in love with this fabulous group of loving, serving, compassionate and powerful, PRAYER NINJAS.    50 industry professionals were involved in sharing their lives in this mission field through speaking, seminars, panels, prayer walks, and a closing dinner, to these 190 national prayer ninjas. All 50 of the professionals were blessed, encouraged and even had their lives changed forever by this group of prayer leaders.  Many of our professionals said that had never been prayed for like that before and they are now renewed to go out and make even a more significant spiritual imprint while working in Hollywood!     GOD TOUCHED EVERYONE’S HEART! The Holy Spirit was present,active and powerful throughout the whole week, bringing together the "Church" and the "Industry" in such a beautiful unity that it took our breath away.    Every single day of the Summons was FULL of answered prayers, miracles and changed lives!  The Lord went way beyond anything we could have hoped for or imagined.  The Hollywood Summons was a MIRACLE for we broke down the walls of misunderstanding, hurt and anger between “Hollywood” and the “Church” and brought true Unity and Love between these two groups of Christ followers.    Two of the Summons Attendees have already booked time at their churches to spread the news of the importance of praying for Hollywood!  Pray for Traci and Debbie this Sunday, Oct. 18th, as they share their experience in Hollywood on the pulpit of their churches, on both coasts.    Here are some TESTIMONIES from the week:   "I'm one of those Christians who said it was Sin City and my heart has been changed and now I sincerely pray for everyone in Hollywood. To remind myself I went out and bought a t-shirt. When people say to me 'why are you wearing an I love Hollywood shirt, you don't even like Hollywood?', I will say this is my reminder that those are God fearing people in Hollywood and we need to lift them up and not judge them. Special Attendee  Here is the picture of Debbie, who came here from  the  Oregon coast, hating Hollywood, (she has never  owned a TV  and didn't go to movies) and who left  saying that she now  loves the people in the  Entertainment Industry and God has  given her a new  mission to tell everyone she knows that she  loves the  people Hollywood and they need to join her in  praying  for all of us!    How You Can Pray Here is how we need to pray, as a follow up to what God just did in our industry: •  Would you pray that none of the 240 people who experienced the movement of God here, will lose what God planted in our hearts, but that we will all continue to remember and act upon all that He did to us and through us.  We want to see continued exponential growth of Love, Compassion, Prayer and Understanding between “Hollywood” and the “Church.” •  Would you pray that we will see great fruit from all that happened here.  We want to see more Christians putting God first in their lives as they work in Entertainment.  We want to see more professionals who don’t yet know Jesus, to find Him and embrace Him into their lives.  And we want to continue to see more and more Prayer Ninjas praying for this influential mission field.  •  We thank the HPN Local Chapter Directors who prayed for us from your cities all over the world.  From Salem Oregon, San Jose, CA, New York City and all the way to Nigeria, we had our chapters all praying with us and for us during the event.  May our 77 Chapter Directors get a renewed sense of passion for people in Arts and Entertainment and dig deeper in prayer for the global creative community. Other things we learned this month: •  We learned that most Christians across the country don’t stay at a movie theatre for the credits.  We challenged our new friends to stay for the credits and pray for the people whose names are scrolling up on the screen. •  Our HPN Local Chapter in Salem Oregon has taken off.  They had their first meeting last Saturday, which was a great success and they already have meetings scheduled and planned for the next three months.  Thanks to Suez and your whole group for your faithful group of pray-ers! •  There is an NFL Gospel Choir that sings at each year’s SuperBowl and travels around the country singing praises to God.  The choir is made up of retired NFL players who all love Jesus.  Pray for the members and their continued influence wherever they sing. Happy Valentines Day HPN! We want this month to be filled with love for others, so as you pray through this newsletter, will you pray for God's LOVE to permeate the hearts and lives of everyone you're lifting up.  And may each of us reach out to someone unexpected with the unconditional love of Jesus this month!  Let's pray -   PRAISES: •  Hollywood Honors Event Success! Big Praises to God for the Hollywood Honors, Unity 2015 event that was a huge success last month at CBS.  13 incredible veteran Christian industry professionals were honored for their decades of faithfulness in Hollywood.  Over 250 people gathered to honor these men and women and to pray for them.  It was an evening of joy, praise, honor, stories and prayer.  And the veterans inspired the younger generation of Christian professionals to live and work with integrity, faith, truth, joy and to be salt and light wherever they go.  We thank everyone who was involved in this historic event, for honoring the legacy of Christians in Hollywood showed us what God is truly doing in our industry! Read more about this blessed night HERE. •  Katy Perry's Grammy Performance We praise God for the beautiful song that Katy Perry sang during the Grammy’s entitled “By The Grace of God.”  It was a touching moment where God was present and it reminded us that God is everywhere and He loves all of us.  We thank Him that it’s not our place to judge, but just to celebrate Him, even in Hollywood!     REQUESTS: •  Academy Awards Pray for the 87th Annual Oscars on Sunday, February 22nd, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, and airing live on ABC. As you pray, here’s a suggestion…. Can pass on this challenge to your pastors, asking them to have your church pray for Hollywood on OSCAR SUNDAY.  HPN is partnering with Mastermedia Intl. to encourage all of our members to mobilize your churches to pray for the people and the projects in the entertainment industry, this one day of the year. For more info click HERE.   •  Oscars Prayer Walk Pray for the Oscars Prayer Walk that HPN and ACT ONE are leading on Thursday, February 19th at the Dolby Theatre.  A group of industry friends are walking around the Hollywood and Highland block, praying for the Lord to touch the lives of everyone involved in the Oscars ceremony, from the performers, to the presenters and audience members.  It’s the biggest night of the year for the American film industry and we want the Lord’s love to fall on everyone there.  Would you pray with us on Thursday night, and if you are an LA local, see the Upcoming Events below for details on how to join us! •  Bob Simon Join us in praying for Bob Simon, the veteran ’60 Minutes’ correspondent who died in a car crash in Manhattan, NYC this past Wednesday.  He was a familiar face to many and his death is a reminder of how precious every day is for us.  Would you pray that God touches the lives of his family, friends and followers and that He can turn this tragedy into good for those in mourning.  For more info readHERE.    • Saturday Night Live TONIGHT is the 40th year Anniversary celebration of Saturday Night Live on NBC.  Pray for the gathering of some of our country’s best comedians, actors, musicians and celebrities as they celebrate this landmark achievement in Television in their 3 hour Special.  If you have a heart for American TV, then just watch and pray for every person who appears on the screen. That alone will make an eternal difference in Hollywood!  And be sure to pray for it’s creator and 40 year producer, Lorne Michaels. For more info on this landmark year for SNL check out this Hollywood Reporter article.   •  Jack Nicholson Pray for Jack Nicholson, who at 77 years old, wishes he had a life companion.  Like many people who find themselves alone in their older years, Jack reminds us how lonely life can be without someone to share it with.  God loves Jack so much, so let’s pray that he can discover that and experience the power and intimacy of God’s unconditional love. Here's a Telegraph article explaining more.   •  Pilot Season in Full Swing TV’s Pilot Season has begun and agents are madly casting shows, networks are starting to make decisions of what shows they’ll pick up for the new Fall season and actors are auditioning and then waiting to see if they’ll be working on a TV series in the 2015-16 season.  Please pray for this frantic time and that the Lord’s wisdom, priorities and truth will reign in the content of the shows being chosen and in the lives of the professionals involved in all of the network and cable comedy and dramatic series.  This is an important time in the TV industry and we want people of talent, integrity and truth to be the decision makers. Here's a list of some of the TV Pilots in contention for the 2015 season.   •  Amy Pascal and Sony Pictures Pray for Amy Pascal, who is now the former Co-Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, as a result of the computer hacking scandal that devastated Sony Pictures in November, 2014. The computer hackers called themselves the Guardians of Peace and their crime exposed subsequent emails, salary details, and other personal information, and a cancelled film, which effected many people’s jobs and lives.  Would you pray that God is personally touching Amy’s life and the lives of everyone who was impacted by this scheme, including the perpetrators.  This event has shaken our industry and only our Lord can use it for His glory! In this CNN article, you can read more about Amy's departure.   •  Christians in Hollywood Pray for the spiritual growth of the Christians in Hollywood.  We want to reach all of the 10,000+ believers here with encouragement, resources, fellowship and prayer.  However, so many don’t even know what’s available. As you pray, would you look at this list of amazing Christian ministries in our community, which doesn't even include many other small groups that are meeting all over the city. God is moving in Hollywood! See this list of local entertainment ministries, working for the Kingdom everyday! •  NRB Convention 2015 Pray for the National Religious Broadcasters Convention and Exposition that is gathering in Nashville on February 23 – 26. Christian broadcasters from around the country gather at this event to promote their business opportunities, learn from other professionals and network.  More and more Hollywood industry professionals attend as the lines are blurring more between Christian and Secular media.  May the Lord be present and active at this gathering of thousands of decision-makers in ministry and media. Dear HPN,   It’s Spring, even though the East Coast doesn’t yet feel it!  For all of you Irishmen, a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you.  And Easter is on it’s way – a day to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus.  What a great time of year for all of us who love Him!!! Let’s pray!.......   PRAISES:    •  The Oscar Prayer Walk The Oscar’s Prayer Walk around the Dolby Theatre, three nights before the Academy Awards, was amazing.  45 industry pros and pray-ers came out to pray around the entire area of the theatre property, even down the red carpet. We prayed every detail of the event, and learned that two security guards who are passionate believers, prayed for every single person who walked into the Dolby theatre the night of the Oscars!   •  The Academy Awards Thank you for praying for the Academy Awards. We were told there was a sense of camaraderie and support that night that we believe came from the prayers of the saints around the world! And our Christian friends who were there said that they had some wonderful spiritually significant conversations! Churches all over the country prayed on Oscar Sunday for the entertainment industry and we are so grateful.   •  Impacting Hollywood's Less Fortunate Praise God for the amazing Christians in our Hollywood community who are involved in more philanthropy, ministry, service, and missions than anyone realizes. We have professional friends giving of their time, their finances, their resources and their contacts to the needy, the underprivileged, at risk children and even widows. We have professionals volunteering in Africa, India, at the LA Union Rescue Mission, building homes, feeding the homeless, serving the deaf and the blind, raising money for co-workers with cancer, and much, much more! One HPN member, Gary, works at a studio and then trains prisoners how to make films on week-ends. Thank the Lord for the Christians in Hollywood who are making an eternal difference all over our city and the world, through their giving and their lives. Check out the work that Gary is doing through Hollywood Impact Studios.   •  HPN Chapters Growing We are so thankful to now have 85 HPN Local Chapters around the world  - in fact we have SIX new chapters just this month! We welcome Raquel in Hamburg, Germany, Lara in Orange County, California, Victor in Charlotte, NC, Leslie in Houston, TX, Vanessa in Memphis TN, and we’re currently adding Jessica in the Netherlands! WELCOME to all six of you and thank you for joining our volunteers all over the world who are praying for the entertainment professionals, their work, their lives, their ministries and their impact! For a list of all of our chapters, click here for our 29 International Chapters and for our 56 US Chapters.   •  NEW! Neighborhood Prayer Walks We praise God for another great idea by Daniella – we are starting LA Neighborhood Prayer Walks in 14 areas (or Tribes, as we’re calling them) of Los Angeles.  We’ll be looking for local facilitators in each area so that we can be prayer walking our whole city, which is full of production companies, studios, post-production houses, location shoots, TV networks, etc….  If you would like to lead an LA neighborhood prayer walk, email [e-mail]   REQUESTS: • God on TV  Pray for God to use some of the amazing spiritual storylines that are popping up in television shows on every network.  Some recent series with solid biblical messages, encounters with the living God, and even prayer are: The Good Wife, The Americans, Grey's Anatomy, Rectify and even House of Cards.  HPN is not recommending that you start watching these shows, because many of them require “viewer discretion,” but we want you to pray for these writers and producers who are open to addressing spiritual issues on the air, as part of their own personal spiritual journeys. Even as they deal with issues of faith in controversial ways, God is present, and very often wrestled with, in real conversations on network television, and that is important to recognize.  We believe that Christians should be aware of Hollywood's willingness to examine our struggles with God in unique and powerful ways. And then our job is to pray that the Lord uses those words to pierce the hearts of both the creators and the audience.   •  Christians in Hollywood Pray for the growing number of Christians or people from faith backgrounds who are speaking out in Hollywood.  Naturally, creative people seem very open to God and spiritual things and so many singers started their careers singing in the church choir. Hollywood is full of people who love God and we want them all to be beautiful witnesses to the love of Jesus. As you pray, read this article. •  Kevin James Pray for actor Kevin James (Doug Hefferman in the CBS sitcom, The King of Queens), who talks a bit about his faith with CBN in this article. • Scientology Documentary Pray for the truth to be revealed and embraced with “Going Clear,” a 2-hour movie on HBO on March 29th, based on the book by Lawrence Wright, unveiling the Church of Scientology. HBO has hired a special team of lawyers to deal with the possible fall-out of this honest look into Scientology by 8 ex-members. For more info check out this HBO page.   • Set Safety Pray for safety on the sets of TV and film shoots. Just this week two helicopters crashed on a set in Argentina and 10 people were killed.  Statistics say that after a 15-year decline, fatalities in the film industry have doubled over the past five years. Here is an LA Times article that explains more.    •  Pinewood Studios Pray for Christians working in and for the new Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, GA.  It’s a thriving studio with lots of spiritual battle and we ask that the Lord gives the believers favor, wisdom, and strength in all that they are handling with all of the productions shooting there and the people in the production services.    •  Young Artists Pray for the talented, young children in America who have the desire to pursue a career in the Arts but don’t always have the parents’ support, finances for lessons, or the opportunities to develop their passions and giftings.  As you pray for great artists to get the chance to use their gifts and talents to add more beauty to the world, watch this video 3 year old Russian boy play the drums with a professional orchestra in Novosibirsk, Russia.   •  The Chinese Industry Pray for the growing film industry in China.  The #1 question that studios ask about new projects being pitched is, “How will it do in China?”  Let’s pray that the Lord will use American filmmakers to spread the Good News of Jesus to the Chinese business partners that they work with.  As you pray, here is anarticle about the huge box office #s films are getting in China.  •  Leonard Nimoy Let's remember the Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy, who passed away last month at 83 years old. We ask the Lord to bring comfort to "Spock's" friends and family at this time. •  Harris Sittels Pray for the family and friends of 30 year old Harris Sittels, who died of a drug overdose on February 19th.  He was the Co-Exec. Producer of  “Parks & Recreation” TV series and the creator and writer of many great television shows. Check out thisVariety article on Harris.  •  Windell Middlebrooks The 36 year actor, Windell Middlebrooks, known for his comedy roles and Miller Beer commercials, died this week of unknown causes.  The facebook buzz has been amazing as his many fans mourn his death.  Would you pray for Windell’s family and friends as they try to process this sudden loss, and may the Lord lead many to Him in the process. Here's an article about Windell and his work.   •  Donna Douglas Also, pray for the family and friends of Donna Douglas, better known at Elly May Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies, who passed away at age 83 in January from cancer.  The great news is that Donna loved the Lord and spent her life giving Him the glory for everything she did.  Her death is a reminder to us that there are so many more followers of Jesus in Hollywood than any of us know.  We need to praise Him for what He’s doing here in this industry. Here's more on Donna Douglas' life and career. •  Healing Prayers Please join HPN in praying for HPN member and friend Lili Baehr, who has had four cancer operations and 20 years of chemo for her battle with cicatricial pemphigoid, a rare chronic autoimmune disease that primarily affects her eyes.  As Lili and her whole family minister in the entertainment industry we ask the Lord to heal and restore her, and give her strength and hope in the process.   •  News from HPN Italy Nearly two hundred artists, musicians, actors, and friends of HPN Italy co-founder Barbara Sanua, February 21st, gathered at the "No Name Caffe" in Monza for a celebration of Barbara's life and the impact of her life on so many sectors of the arts community in Italia and America.  Barbara passed away in November 2013 from cystic fibrosis just months after completing her fourth and final film for the 168 Project in 2013, Second Hand.  That film gave testimony of her hope in Christ while waiting for a heart transplant that could have saved her life.  She was hospitalized during filming, and insisted on doing her final lines shot on an iPhone from her cardiac ICU bed.  The gathering this year was a fund-raiser for cystic fibrosis research. Barbara starred in 5 Minutes, the film awarded Best Film for 2006 at the 168 Festival and was presented at Cannes in 2007 by producer/director Deborah E. Dear HPN members,   A very happy April to all of you.  We trust that you had a joyous Easter and are enjoying the Spring weather. This month we are focusing some of our prayers on the music industry and thank you in advance for praying for our world’s songwriters, musicians, composers and performers. And we’re planning a new chapter in Bakersfield, CA!  If you’d like to connect to a local chapter in your area, or start a new HPN Local Chapter, click here!   UPDATES: •  Hollywood Needs Prayer Karen spoke to four different Christian groups and conferences this month in Pasadena, Bakersfield and Oakland, California and to many in the audiences, it was a brand new concept to look at Hollywood as a mission field or to pray for God’s blessings, love and hope for Hollywood professionals! Would you pray that the Holy Spirit touches Christians all over the country and the world, to have a desire to pray for the artists and entertainment professionals who are shaping or changing our culture. We are the ones who can spread the word that God is alive and active in Hollywood! REQUESTS: •  Sweeps May is Sweeps month, one of four months each year, where the Nielsen ratings poll their TV viewers to determine how many people are watching which television shows. These numbers impact both advertising dollars and the networks’ decisions on which shows to pick up or drop in the new season. The Networks air shows they think will particularly bring in more viewers between April 23 – May 20, 2015, and Nielsen calculates the numbers, based on what Americans are watching.  It’s important to know that overall, “Christians” are watching the same TV shows as anyone else. So would you pray that the outcome of this month’s Sweeps will bring us more quality TV programming, based on our current viewing habits. For more info on Sweeps month click here.   •  National Day of Prayer Thursday, May 7, 2015 is the National Day of Prayer in the US. On this national holiday, we hope that you will join a local prayer gathering in your city or if you’re in LA, join us in Hollywood. People of faith from all over the city are gathering to pray for our country, our state, our city, and our entertainment industry, worshiping God and asking Him to do miracles in and among us. For more info on this Hollywood National Day of Prayer event click here.   •  New Series Pray for HPN members and friends Dean and Sheryl who are producing a new series for the UP Network.  May their faith impact their scripts and everyone working on the show, and may they have favor with their staff, and the network executives, cast and crew.    •  Cannes Film Festival Pray for the films being screened, the films being bought and sold and the people attending the 2015 Cannes International Film Festival, May 13 – 24th in Cannes, France. This is the world’s largest and most attended International Film Festival and decision-makers, celebrities, distributors, producers and thousands of filmgoers all gather from around the world.   Many decisions and many careers are made at this Festival and our industry gets a sense of what films work and don’t work, based on the response at Cannes. Would you pray that the Lord is present, filling peoples hearts and lives, and that the Holy Spirit is guiding the decisions and conversations there.  May it be a different experience this year because of our prayers. For more info on Cannes, click here.   •  Billboard Music Awards The nominations for the Billboard Music Awards have just been announced and the winners will be awarded on Sunday, May 17th. Would you pray for these nominated Pop, Rock, Rap, Blues, Jazz and other music artists and for the show’s co-hosts, Ludacris and Pete Wentz – two famous artists in the music world. Music is the #1 influencer in the lives of the millennials today and so we want to pray for the Lord to speak to them through their music. Specific nominated artists to pray for are Bono Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, who are just 3 of the many artists on the top Music charts who know God. For a list of the nominees to pray for click here.    •  Coachella Music Festival One of the wildest Music Festivals in our country is the Coachella Music Festival.  This year’s Festival is on two week-ends, April 10th – 19th. It’s got a reputation for being a wild gathering of young people living out the “Drugs, Sex and Rock ‘N’Roll” experience.  Please pray for the people who attend and for the performers, that they will be moved by Holy Spirit to seek Him.  How miraculous it would be to hear that people became Christians at Coachella!!  For a list of the bands performing clickhere.   •  Music Festivals There are music festivals happening all over the world, for the music enthusiasts.  Let’s pray for young people to find uplifting music, great Christian friends to be a part of secular music festivals in order to be an alternative voice and for the Lord to touch the hearts of musicians in our county and across the globe.  Here is a list of music festivals in the US to pray for.   •  Luke Bryan Pray for Luke Bryan, who returns for the 3rd year as the co-host of the Academy of Country Music Awards airing on CBS on April 19th. Luke has already won 4 ACM Awards and is nominated for four more this year.  As a follower of Jesus, may the Lord use Luke in a powerful way to touch other people around the world, through his music and his life.  For more info on Luke click here.   • UTalk Radio Pray for HPN members, Steve, Kati and Larissa and their new Radio show, UTalk Radio, that will air on CHR Top 40, New Country, Alternative and Hip Hop stations nationally. UTalk is a radio station for teens to call in and talk about their problems. It’s a tool to help young adults who don’t have anywhere else to turn for advice, and they will receive answers, advice and encouragement from a biblical perspective. May the Lord use this radio show to help young people who otherwise would have no one to talk to.  As you pray, here’s the link to pass on to any young people in need.   •  Hollywood Missions Trip Pray for three groups of students who have come to LA this month for a “Hollywood Missions Trip.”  This week, 9 film students from ORU and 9 YWAMers from Australia are here to pray for Hollywood and learn about what God is doing in our community. And in May, students from Regent Univ. will be here. They will all experience panels, speakers, prayer walks and show tapings.  Will you pray that these students all leave with a new insight and understanding of the entertainment industry and the spiritual needs here, and that they will encourage others to pray for the creative community here that is shaping our culture. And if any of them decide to stay, may they see themselves as marketplace missionaries in Hollywood! •  HPN Chapters Would you pray for the Omaha Chapter, where they have had a struggle to find people in their area who have a heart to pray for the entertainment industry. Also, for the new chapters that are just starting out, that the Lord would bring vision, blessing and the right people to join this movement of prayer.  •  LA Neighborhood Prayer Walks Please pray that as HPN launches our city-wide Neighborhood Prayer Walks, that we'll get 14 leaders to facilitate Entertainment Prayer Walks in their area.  We want the whole city covered in prayer, so check out this map to see if you might want to lead a small prayer walk group in your neighborhood! •  Prayer For Hollywood We want to hear from you HPN! June 2014 Newsletter View this email in your browser Dear HPN members,   It’s officially summer, with schools over and the summer blockbusters coming out!  Let’s pray this month for the entertainment industry families who are all home – that they spend time together, enjoy each other, and build closer relationships with one another!  And may you have a wonderful summer yourself!  Let’s pray – PRAISES: • Believers in Hollywood There are more amazing God fearing professionals in Hollywood than anyone realizes.  We know of over 10,000 followers of Christ in the entertainment industry and more and more are confidently living out their faith, regardless of their denomination. We praise God for what He’s doing in our city and we would like you to pray for our community, asking God to give us all a deeper love for Him, favor with others, and to be a Christ-like example in our lives and work through honesty, integrity, caring for others, and doing excellent work. Read this encouraging article!   • The 3rd annual Variety PURPOSE Family Entertainment + Faith Based Summit was a great success. It was sold out and the conversation confirmed that our  whole industry is embracing family friendly programming and the amount of content being created is growing! One Executive even stated that this is truly an answer to prayer! GLOBAL HPN UPDATES: •  HPN JERUSALEM: Pray for the growing film industry in Jerusalem.  Our Local Chapter there is run by Sarah and Greg, who run a film school, and also our friends Gary and Cindy support and nurture artists, and Chris runs CBS Jerusalem.  They are all seeing great changes there and would love our prayers of support for wisdom, and to be eternally significant in their efforts.  Read this article about what’s happening there in the world of film:  You can get in touch with Sarah and Greg here. •  HPN PARIS: News from Donna:  “Didier and I have been encouraged as the Lord brings ‘color’ to the Arts vision here in Paris.  It is very interesting to see the enthusiasm in unbelieving parents towards their children hearing about and believing in God…We have launched a discipleship group blending the Word and creativity…We’ve had the privilege of seeing six new believers this year… A teacher commented that she had never read the Scriptures and was taken aback by the power in the words.”  Let’s pray for Donna and Didier Heslon as they build a Christian arts community in France. REQUESTS: •  Bold Believers Pray for the Christian professionals in Hollywood who are bold, making a spiritual impact, confident in their faith and respected amongst their peers.  The list is growing and we are having a greater impact in our community because of it.  A great example is Denzel Washington who stands strong in his faith, his morals, his family and his solid spiritual impact on those around him.  As you pray for him and many others, watch this video.    •  Michael Jace's Family Pray for the family of TV actor Michael Jace (The Shield), who murdered his wife April, on May 21st in their home.  April was a financial aid counselor at Biola University and Michael was a TV actor. April’s Christian family is now raising money online to help pay for her funeral and for the care of her boys, Caleb, 5, Nehemiah, 8, and Savoy, 18.  Please pray for the boys, the family members, friends and especially for Michael. Read more here. •  HPN Member Please pray for a dear member of HPN, Monsita, who was just recently diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her small intestine.  She is preparing for surgery next week and she and her husband and producer, Terry, ask for your prayers for total healing, peace, wisdom in making decisions and for a successful surgery.  May we pray them through this journey to complete victory! •  Increasing Christian Values Prayer for the Christian audience who is hungry for films with Christian values. That’s why  currently, the films we’ve been praying for are doing so well.  In a Southern Baptist poll, 65% of the people surveyed say they want to continue to see Christian values at the movie theatres.  Your prayers can make a difference.  As you pray, read this article!  • Atheist Network Coming Soon Pray for the Lord to touch the hearts of Producers, Directors, Writers and Executives overseeing the new ATHEIST NETWORK. Starting on the online Roku Network, the founders believe The Atheist TV Network will potentially reach as many as 7 million viewers. Small by Christian media standards, but the new channel, debuting in July, will broadcast programming 24/7. Be part of the discussion here!  • June's Award Shows Pray for the three big award shows taking place this month in LA. May the Lord show every person nominated that their identity is in HIM, not in what awards they win or how popular they are. Success is defined in Hollywood by awards, what big names we're connected to, and by how big our last project was. So, will you lift up all the people involved in these three award shows and ask the Lord to melt their hearts with His loving hands. They are all HIS children, created for HIS purposes! - The Daytime Emmy Awards – June 22nd, featuring the biggest names in Daytime TV.   - The Critics Choice TV Awards – June 19th, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer.  The Broadcast Journalists choose their BEST in all TV shows.  - The BET Awards – June 29th, hosted by Chris Rock and performances by the biggest names in Black entertainment. •  Vision For Church Leaders Pray for the leaders of churches who are closed to the idea of praying for Hollywood.  It’s gotten better through the years but we still know many Christians in our country who have been discouraged by their pastors who don’t have a vision to pray for Hollywood and can’t see it as a Mission Field, thus discouraging young people to pursue a career here.  Here is an excerpt from HPN member Ernie, who is trying to get his church to pray with him for Hollywood: “This does take perseverance.  I printed out a copy of my list of Film and TV actors and at our prayer meeting last week I said this:  "I have a list of over 120 actors to pray for. Please see me and I will give you this list to use in prayer."  The Pastor acknowledged the need, but no one came up to me and asked for it.  So, what do I do?  I never allow this, by God's grace, to discourage me.  We persist in prayer.  So, as I've seen so often, God will answer my prayers that a burden for Hollywood would be given to more members of my church.  We are in a real spiritual battle!  Not only outside the church, but, inside the church.  The church needs to see that ALL of our culture needs reformation and revival.  I remember the movie "High Noon" (1952) with Gary Cooper.  At the start, everyone was with him -  Then no one. So, what did he do? He fought the men alone.  I look at movies as a way to connect them with some Biblical lesson.  That movie made a big impression on me when I was only 12! However, I'm confident that more in my church will have their eyes opened to pray for our Christian friends in Hollywood. I hope this encourages all to PERSIST in prayer. Don't give up. God has His time to answer.  And He will. Dear HPN praying members,   April showers have definitely brought May flowers.  We are enjoying a beautiful start to summer in Hollywood!  We hope all you moms had a great Mothers Day, that all you students are either done or ready to finish up your school year, and that all you Hollywood professionals who are on Hiatus are enjoying your families and the time off.  We have lots to pray for this month, but we always love to start with praises….   PRAISES:    • The National Day of Prayer              The National Day of Prayer gathering at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood was AWESOME!  We had a city-wide event with the most beautiful mix of prayer leaders, worship leaders and even the Spoken Word, all celebrating Jesus in our country, our state and our city.  We thank everyone who joined us and we thank God for Alicia from Favour Events and Pierre from The Peggy Beatrice Foundation for the chance to work with them on this night of prayer.  God moved in Hollywood last Thursday.  •  Healing Monsita and Sandy are done with their chemo and doing well!!!! Thank you so much for your faithful prayers for these two amazing women who have journeyed through brutal cancer in the past months.  The prayers of the Saints have availed MUCH and they are both on the road to complete recovery.  And Lilli’s surgery was successful for her cancer.  But keep praying for her eyes, as she continues to lose her sight!  Praise God for His miraculous healing hand on these women’s lives!   REQUESTS: •  Cannes Film Festival Pray for all of the participants of the world’s largest international film Festival – the 68thannual Cannes Film Festival, which is already in progress, running from May 13 to May 24 in Cannes France.  May the Lord show up in conversations, meetings, decisions and screenings and may the decision-makers, stars, and the behind the scenes professionals all leave different than when they came because of what God is doing there.  For more info.   •  Apostle Paul Film Pray for Hugh Jackman who is playing St. Paul in an upcoming Matt Damon and Benn Affleck film entitled "Apostle Paul":  For more information on his life, beliefs and plans for this film.   •  Bruce Jenner and Family Pray for Bruce Jenner and his family. He was interviewed by Diane Sawyer last month and our hearts went out to him for his pain and his desperation.  Let’s ask the Lord to put His loving arms around him so that He can transform Bruce’s heart, soul and body, to whom He created Bruce to be.  Here is a link to the interview, but know that it is very hard to watch.   •  Christians in the Industry Pray for the amazing Christians who are doing excellent work in Hollywood and are also role models, beacons of light and ambassadors of Christ every day.  There are over 10,000+ known Christians in Hollywood and we want your prayers, asking God to have our faith grow, our influence be positive, pointing others to Jesus, and for our work to be “as unto Him.”  Here is an encouraging link about Denzel Washington and how he is pouring into creative college students and encouraging them in their faith.    •  "Let Hope Rise" Hillsong Movie The Hillsong movie trailer is out for the documentary on the phenomena of the Australian Hillsong movement that has shot across the globe. Let’s pray that it will attract non-believers all over the world.  And pray for the producers and members of HPN, Phil and Jonathan, as they prepare for it’s September 30th release. Here’s the trailer.   •  Uplifting Videos We were told recently by an HPN member that there is nothing good on YouTube!  This is a mindset that we believe is not true!  There are amazing short films, testimonials, and film clips that lift our spirits, reflect a beautiful heart, inspire us, challenge us spiritually, and even remind us how awesome God is!  So, we put out a challenge to our pray-ers.  If you have found something profound, uplifting, encouraging, beautiful, insightful or reflects the heart of God on YouTube, would you please email us the link to [e-mail] Then we’ll post what we receive to remind the Church that God is EVERYWHERE – even on Youtube! Here is a very unexpected clip that we found that glorifies God.   •  I Am Second  Pray for Brian Phillip Welch, better known by the stage name Head, who is an American musician best known as one of the guitarists and co-founder of the nu metal band Korn and his solo project Love and Death.  He tells his raw and chilling testimony here about his miraculous conversation to Christianity. Brian’s story is the first in a bold 22 Day Challenge from the ministry I AM SECOND, where celebrity video testimonies are released every day for the next 22 days.  If you want to pray for a celebrity who has found the Lord every day through the end of May, then click here.   •  Kevin James Pray for Kevin James, comedian, actor, writer, and producer, who is widely known for playing Doug Heffernan on the hit CBS sitcom The King of Queens. He has “come out” about his faith in a CBN interview.  He needs your prayers as he deals with the response from other industry professionals who may not agree with his choice.   • LA Neighborhood Prayer Walks Please pray for our city! HPN wants the entire city of Los Angeles to be prayed for, so we divided the city into 14 different areas or Tribes – for every one has entertainment facilities, theatres or people who work in Hollywood! If you live in LA and want to walk your neighborhood and pray for the production and post-production companies, studios, networks, theatres, recording studios, agencies, and any other industry related businesses in your TRIBE of Los Angeles, then [e-mail] or join us for our event on June 13th for the launch of our local LA NEIGHBORHOOD PRAYER WALKS. For more info.     •  Young Entertainment Professionals Pray for the thousands of young people who come to LA to break into the entertainment business and find it crushing, discouraging, and harder than anything they ever imagined.  These young people need prayer to know if it’s right for them to stay, or go home, knowing they pursued a dream and it led them somewhere else.  Here is a beautiful post of an Australian actress who came to Holly....    • Are You A Local? If you live in Los Angeles County, or even in California and you are not receiving our LOCAL Prayer emails that let you know about special prayer events that are happening locally, then could you please email [e-mail] and she will add you to our local list.  For instance, before the National Day of Prayer, we sent out an email with the specifics of where and when we’re meeting, but it only went out to our local people.  If we only have your email but we don’t know you live in or around the LA area, then you won’t be receiving those special emails. So, please let us know so we can add you to our special local events. Dear HPN,   Happy summer to all of you. As we pray for the drought in California, would you pray for the spiritual drought here as well. We know that Hollywood is full of hungry and thirsty people and your prayers can give them hope!  Let’s pray…..   UPDATES:  •  LA Neighborhood Prayer Walk HPN Neighborhood Prayer Walks has been launched and we’re excited to see more Tribes filling up with people who want to walk their neighborhood and pray for the entertainment and media professionals, companies, projects and issues. Please pray for every Tribe to have people prayer walking and if you want to join a group in your area then email [e-mail] or check out our webpage.   •  Comic-Con July 9 – 12 was the Annual San Diego Comic-Con International 2015 where 150,000 comic book and graphic novel fans (most in costumes), celebrities and professionals gathered for screenings, seminars, and panels! Let’s keep praying for this powerful movement that has dominated the theaters for the past 14 years and ask the Lord to touch the hearts of everyone involved in this creative genre of books, TV shows and films! Click here for info on all that happened this past week-end.   REQUESTS: •  Prayers for Charleston We have to understand not only the power of the media to bring hope to our world, but be active in talking about and using the media to promote God’s saving love in our lives and the lives of others.  A perfect example of the media being used for good is this clip of the family members of the Charleston victims killed by Dylann Roof, and how they chose to forgive him and state their forgiveness on video.  LOVE DID WIN OVER HATE!!!! This clip went viral and we can see the power of media and entertainment to bring hope to a broken community, and the world!   •  Hollywood's Aging Stars Please join us in praying for the people in Hollywood who don't know the Lord. It becomes very sobering when suddenly we realize the stars we watched for most of our lives are suddenly retired and have disappeared from the public eye, only to be replaced by newer, younger versions of the same great talent. I was reminded this week of Jack Nicholson, Gene Hackman, Sean Connery and Tim Curry, four great, award winning actors whose faces we will see no more. Jack Nicholson retired in 2013 and is struggling with severe Alzheimer's. Tim Curry also retired from being in front of the camera in 2010 after a debilitating stroke, which left him in a wheel chair. These are only two of many people who we take for granted until one day they are gone. Please pray for the hearts of the people you watch on your favorite TV shows, the films you attend and the music that you listen to. Every era eventually loses their best. Let's pray that our country's greatest stars will find the saving love of Jesus in their lives before they're gone! • Projects to Keep In Prayer Last month we listed three projects that are upcoming secular TV shows and Films about biblical topics or themes that are all brought to you by HPN friends in our Hollywood Christian community that we can be praying for.  We listed: The TV series “Answered Prayers” – premiering Sunday, July 26th on TLC. (or watch the sizzle reel here)    The TV series “The Story of God, with Morgan Freeman” premiering in 2016 on the National Geographic Channel.     The feature Film “The Shack”, to be released in 2016.  We have three more projects this month to add to the growing list. Please pray for the people involved in each of these commercial projects, and the impact the message of the story and the other Christian co-workers can have on their hearts: Sept. 18th is the opening night of "CAPTIVE”, based on the book "Unlikely Angel" by Ashley Smith with Stacy Mattingly. It’s a true story, starring David Oyelowo (“Selma”) and Kate Mara (“Fantastic 4”) and written, directed and produced by members of our Hollywood Christian community. Join us in praying that the film’s message is life-changing for both the people involved in the film who don’t know the Lord, and for the audience!  For additional information, visit www.captivethemovie.com or their Facebook Page.    “Ties That Bind” premiers August 12th at 9pm on the UP Network. A dramatic series about a woman who is a cop by day and a mom by night is created, and written by HPN friends. It shows a solid but real family and how they deal with real struggles in their lives. For more info visit their site.   The famous 1959 “Ben-Hur”, is being remade by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey so that today’s millennials will watch this powerful story of redemption.  The remake stars Morgan Freeman as Ildarin, Jack Huston as Ben-Hur and Rodrigo Santoro as Jesus.  The film opens nationwideFebruary 26, 2016.  Pray that this timeless story will have an impact on young people around the world. For more info click here. If you are watching a show that you want to recommend to our HPN pray-ers to be praying for, be sure to email the title in to [e-mail].  •  Political Atmosphere There is a deep political divide in Hollywood amongst the liberals and the conservatives. As we already gearing up for the 2016 election, would you pray that Christians here could turn political conversations into discussions about the heart of man and faith, versus arguments about social issues and politics. We want the Christians to be uniters, not dividers, so that Jesus is lifted up! And we have never met a person here who has become a Christian through a boycott or a political argument!   • Prayer for the Studios Disney and Warner Bros. are two studio lots that have more Christian gatherings and prayer groups than any others. In fact, both of those lots now have Bible Studies, prayer walks and even an Alpha group! Would you please pray for the Lord to open doors for us to have Christian gatherings on every studio lot in our city, that would reach the Christians and allow the seekers to have another opportunity to meet Jesus. The lots we ask you to pray for Christian leaders and visionaries are: NBC/Universal, Fox, Sony, Paramount, CBS Beverly Center CBS Radford, CBS Television Center, Raleigh Studios and Sunset/Gower. If you work at any of these studios and would like to get connected with other Christians on your lot, then [e-mail].   •  Local Chapter Directors Summit HPN now has 88 Local Chapters around the world. And we have just received a grant allowing us to host an HPN LOCAL CHAPTER DIRECTORS SUMMIT in Hollywood in May, 2016. Would you pray that all of our Local Chapter Directors will be able to attend the Summit and that they will be encouraged, enlightened and challenged to go back to their home towns and pray more fervently for the global entertainment community. Dear HPN,
It’s August and summer is almost over! I pray that you prayed through the credits of all the movies you went to this summer, that you have an HPN Remote Prayer Sticker on your TV remote so that you’re praying for everyone you’re watching on TV and that you are having your children pray through our Kids & Teen HPN Prayer Calendar as they go to their movies, watch their TV shows and listen to their music. And after all that, let’s pray through our August requests below. We are praising God for all of you as you pray!

• God's Working at WB
We praise God for the Christian community on the Warner Bros. lot, which is both large and thriving. Let’s keep praying for their growth, strength in the Lord, unity and protection from any darts of the enemy. They have a Bible study, a prayer walk and even an Alpha Group on the lot. REQUESTS:

• Lights in Dark Places
Our big prayer request this month is to pray for the Christians working on the studio lots. It’s a spiritual battlefield on many of these lots, especially the ones that don’t have a strong Christian presence. Employees are often mistreated, over-worked and not respected in the workplace. This month, would you lift up the Christians who work at NBC/Universal, Sony, Paramount, Fox, CBS, Disney/ABC and Warner Bros studios? Would you ask the Lord to give them strength, favor and open doors to be salt and light in these places. • Relativity Media
Pray for the founder Ryan Kavanaugh, the Execs, employees and their families of Relativity Media, LLC, once the third largest global mini-major film and TV studio in the world, that just filed bankruptcy. It is incredibly difficult for production companies to succeed in Hollywood, and though 98% fold within the first 5 years, Relativity had acquired too much debt in their 11 years to keep going. May the Lord turn this surprising situation into good for everyone there who has been impacted by this outcome. • MTV Video Music Awards 2015
Pray for the MTV Video Music Awards – Sunday, Aug. 30th, hosted by Miley Cyrus at the Microsoft Theatre in LA and airing on MTV. All of America’s biggest recording artists, bands and musicians in all genres of music will be there. And let’s take this time to pray for Miley Cyrus to run into the arms of Jesus! • John Williams
Pray for the iconic composer John Williams, as he struggles with some health issues at the age of 83. He was supposed to score Steven Spielberg’s latest film, “Bridge of Spies” but had to hand it over to Thomas Newman. He is slotted to score Spielberg’s next film “The BFG”, so let’s pray for the Lord to both heal his body and touch his heart!



• Telluride Film Festival
Pray for the Telluride Film Festival, this year held on Sept. 4 – 7 in Telluride, Colorado. May Christians have a voice there and that God will show up in unexpected ways! Here are two quotes to help you understand the power and influence of this small but prestigious gathering of filmmakers, distributors, buyers, sellers and moviegoers:

“If it seems to exist on a higher plane, this is not just a matter of altitude. Mostly it is the kind of place where, for one long weekend all anyone wants to talk about is movies. • New TV Season is Back
It’s time to pray for the 2015-2016 TV Season which begins in September. This is a season mixed with great shows that everyone can watch, and shows that continue to push the sexual, violent and language envelope. Let’s pray for the people who are creating, producing, writing, and acting in these shows, that they may all experience God, meet great Christians and have encounters with the Holy Spirit this season. And remember to ask for our REMOTE PRAYER STICKERS so that you can put them on your TV Remote as a reminder to pray for everyone you’re watching! • 67th Emmy Awards
On September 20th, the final nominees will be announced for the 67th Emmy Awards on the Fox Network. As the nominations come in, would you pray this month as people make their decisions on whom to nominate? And please pray that the nominees will not get their identity from this or any other award or acknowledgement, but that the professionals in Hollywood will get their identity from God. We welcome our newest Local Chapter Director, Brenda-Marie in Harrah, Oklahoma! She is starting to build a database of both industry professionals and prayer warriors in Oklahoma! • HPN Cairo
Our HPN Local Chapter in Cairo, Egypt has launched and is already expanding. Pray for Amir as he mobilizes Egyptian filmmakers and prayer warriors to pray for his city, his country and the creative community in Egypt. Let's pray for the Lord to unite them, empower them and give them favor with their art! And we’ll soon have our HPN DVD subtitled in Arabic! • HPN Madrid
We praise God for our HPN Local Chapter in Spain. Hector and Lilly Ramirez have been running the Aslan/ARS Performing Arts Centre in Madrid, and have been our HPN Local Chapter Directors for the past 10 years. We just met with them in LA and they are doing amazing things through the Arts to reach the post-modern culture of Madrid. They have invited any professionals in theatre, dance and/or music, who love the Lord, to come be a short term missionary with them as teachers. You don't even have to know Spanish to teach there!
