Prayer as Every Day Life Imagining Jesus in Your Prayer Life Until a few years ago, I never thought to bring my imagination into my prayer life. A professor in one of my graduate courses gave me a new perspective on this by sharing that God created all of me, including my imagination. Just as I am to be holy and set apart for God, so should my imagination also be holy and set apart; consecrated for God's pleasure and purposes. It occurred to me that my imagination should therefore be a part of the day to day living out of my spiritual life. Read more... September 2013  Volume 19, No. 4 Dear Praying Friend, Dave and Kim Butts and Jon and JoLyn Graf recently attended an amazing G-6 Leadership Retreat at Winshape in Rome, GA. G-6 stands for Galatians 6:6 which says, "Be very sure now, you who have been trained to a self-sufficient maturity, that you enter into a generous common life with those who have trained you, sharing all the good things that you have and experience." (MSG) As the leadership team for Harvest Prayer Ministries, we were able to spend some significant time sharing, talking and praying with one another about our life together in ministry and the vision and future of Harvest Prayer Ministries. It was a significant time for all of us as we not only explored how we lead, but how we relate as husbands and wives in ministry and how we minister in community with and to others.  You will notice that we have added an important feature to this newsletter - after having a separate intercessory prayer team for many years, we decided to incorporate our prayer needs into Connected so that our readers and supporters could get involved in lifting up the HPM staff, board and ministry. Certainly much confession is of this personal, private nature that is only between ourselves and God. But God's Word gives us another picture of confession that is corporate in its practice. It is confession from a group of people who are aware of the corporate aspect of their sin and aware that private confession is inadequate to deal with this problem.Read More...   Editor's Blog: Creating Space for God I have a sign on my office bulletin board that states, "Sit in silence for ten minutes every day." It is not as easy as it sounds; however, silence is an important discipline to cultivate in one's journey towards Christ-likeness. I wish I could say I was good at practicing this discipline, but it is my goal to eventually get to the place where the exercise of silence strengthens my ability to be attentive to God as I go about my normal everyday activities.  Read more... People can place their prayers in the cracks as an offering to God and others can remove them and pray over them. What a lovely picture of intercession. Thanks for your prayers over the last couple of months. We have made it through a pretty serious summer financial season, so we are praising God while still needing your prayers for financial stability over the coming months. One of our major issues will be what to do about health insurance as a staff. Please pray for wisdom and clarity! We do this at God's command.  When we pray, "yours is the power," we are saying "we have no power- we are powerless unless you raise us up!" We are declaring that God's power is the best power, the most amazing power, the most humbling manifestation of grace we could ever know.
