March Update
Bringing the Presence of Christ to the Courthouse

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. This could not have happened without you! Jesus, in John 4:35 states: "Don't you have a saying, 'It's still four months until harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest."

While everything that can be shaken is being shaken, there is a growing opportunity of many people (harvest in the fields) that are looking for a firm foundation to be found only in Jesus, we just need to go to the fields!

We are now at 27 courthouses in 5 states and targeting 2 more in Chicagoland as well as 30+ nationwide with additional opportunities in Mexico and S. Korea in 2016.  God has been faithful and clearly calling His church to the fields/harvest at the courthouse!

Testimonies

A woman in deep pain and anger having been betrayed by her husband came, heavy burdened, to the table ready to receive. She was honored, listened to and then we asked God to touch her in the deepest places of pain.  God began to touch her. She began to let go of the hurt and anger, started to forgive her husband and instantly sensed a huge pressure relief.  We referred her to a church and a counseling agency.

A head security guard at a new location came out to us and expressed his thankfulness for us being there.  He recounted the story of his 32 year old daughter who died with an overdose of drugs and now he is taking care of their 8 year old granddaughter, as the father abandoned them. With tears in his eyes we prayed for their family and he said we need more of this here.

A woman who we have been praying with for 2 1/2 years, whose daughter was caught up in drugs, prostitution, abusive relationships and human trafficking came to us crying, but this time with tears of joy.  Her daughter who had been incarcerated for over a year was being released and had surrendered to Jesus and was looking for a new life!

A woman was rushing as she ran late to a court proceeding. As a few volunteers quickly walked and prayed with her, they sensed the Lord prompt them to ask her about her hip pain. She looked shocked, as it was not obvious, and in that moment received complete healing from the 6 level pain. She came out 2 hours later thanking Jesus for her hip relief and her dismissed case!

A homeless man received prayer and rededicated his life to Christ, with tears in his eyes looked at us as if to say, thank you for seeing me and helping me.  We connected him with an organization that helps people get ID's for food/resource support and then then took him to lunch. At lunch we were asking him about his extended family and literally 10 minutes later his older brother "just happened" to walk into the same restaurant! He connected with his brother and he agreed to let him stay with him until he got on his feet.  It seemed that some form of reconciliation was occurring.

We are always in awe of the power of God's love and presence as we meet people where they are at. One encounter with Him, changes everything! We now pray for over 1,200 people/month. Many are getting connected with jobs, churches and other faith-based services. Since Inception in Chicago in Dec. 2011: Over 17,000 people prayed for, 350+ 1st time commitments, 500+ re-commitments to Christ, 1800 Referrals, 5,000+ Volunteer Hours representing 51 different churches and 25,000 + Biblical materials and Bibles dispersed.

Expansion: We are targeting expansion in the next 6 months to 26 other courthouses. We will be starting soon in Markham, IL and Will county, IL and San Diego, CA.  In addition in the next 2-3 years we have had interest in 4-5 other countries.  Help us grow by partnering with us.

Prayer Request: Pray about joining us in any form, with expansion we need more help from the wider body of Christ, not the least of which is intercession, financially and volunteering. Let us know how we can help or pray for you!

    Courtside Chicago Testimonies
    Daley Plaza:

Daley Plaza ImageA man who was headed to court was stopped by and received prayer from one of us volunteers, while another one of us-- upon learning that he was looking for a job as a cook-- prophesied God’s goodness over him and declared that he would get such a job very soon. On his way from back court, the man came running to our table and said that the judge told him that he had a friend who owned a restaurant; had called him during recess; and was able to get him a job as a cook! Our new CM friend was amazed; so we volunteers pressed in on him; and he surrendered his life in a genuine way to Christ. Last week, he stopped and thanked us, as he started his new job the next day. All nine of us volunteers gathered around him as we prayed and encouraged him. We then took an offering for him and blessed him. He is also now connected with one of our partner churches.

    Circuit Court:
Circuit Court ImageAttorney Andy Norman: I was on trial in the DuPage County Circuit Court building. I was hoping I would see Courtside present in front of the courthouse so I could visit. When I arrived I went to the table and introduced myself. I was able to pray with and for the three volunteers. It was wonderful to start the morning praying with them outside the courthouse before my court appearance. Our trial involved the ticketing of my client for street preaching, and it was obvious to the judge that my client loved Jesus. Shortly after the trial ended, sometime after 5 p.m., the judge asked my client whether he was familiar with the “people out in front of the courthouse”. The reference to CM was obvious. My client hadn’t noticed them when he arrived. But of course I had. The judge had just ruled against us in the trial, so we were feeling down. But when the judge made reference to the CM volunteers it was clear to me that the Lord was using that to refresh and encourage me. I told the judge it was “Courtside Ministries” to whom he was making reference and that I was a chaplain in the ministry. It was wonderfully encouraging to realize—from the inside—that the judges were taking notice of CM’s presence. This is how courtrooms get changed and I was privileged to see it firsthand. God-willing this is taking place inside all the courthouses where we pray.

    Valparaiso Courtside:
Courtside Valpo ImageOne day we prayed for more than 70 people and saw three salvations. We prayed with lawyers and people going into court. An older man saw our tablecloth and came to see who we were. He told us his concerns over his two daughters and we were able to pray into his situation. A woman visited us looking for prayer. We shared the good news with her after prayer and she received Christ. She walked away smiling and praising God as she was referred to a local church.

    Dupage Courtside:
Image: Dupage CourtsideOne woman was going to court with her parents because of a very bad situation that her ex-boyfriend had created. I could tell right off that she was in a very bad place. As I walked towards her, every step forward I took, she took one step back. Her mom had been the one to respond to our simple question of would you like some prayer. Fortunately a woman volunteer was with me that day and she was able to close the gap better by standing alongside of the parents. I just kept my distance. It was amazing how quickly things began to change with this young lady as we began praying for her and sharing some prophetic words with her. Her whole demeanor began to change and it was clearly evident that the Holy Spirit was speaking to her. In fact, the change was so dramatic, that after we were done praying, this lady actually walked up to me and shook my hand. Her parents were so blessed and so thankful that we took the time to pray with them. I told them what I tell everyone, "Thanks for letting us pray with you!"

Merry Christmas from all of us at Courtside Ministries. Thank you for reading our December newsletter and supporting us this year. At this time of year we are often reminded of Matthew 1:23 and the fulfillment of the prophesy from Isaiah 7:14, "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means God with us)". This reality and reminder is an amazing concept to "conceive and receive".  We get to have a front row seat to watch God bring the reality ofHimself being alive and with us to many in front of the courthouses. We really are one encounter like this away from the breakthrough and internal motivation we need to follow our Savior and friend Jesus Christ.

Mt.18:20 declares, "Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them". We gather all year round in prayer, worship and word and God promises and fulfills that promise to be "With Us." Since December of 2011 in Chicagoland alone, we have had the privilege to pray with well over 35,000 people, over 1,900 commitments or re-commitments to Christ, over 2,400 faith-based referrals to churches and social services, almost 10,000 volunteer hours and tens of thousands of biblical resources and Bibles distributed.  God is truly amazing! Consider donating to Courtside and the Kingdom work we do at the courthouses.

    Courthouse Kick Off

    December 2
We had a great start to the kick off at the court in Will County. Thank you for your prayers and to the 10 people who volunteered their time from seven different churches. We prayed for over 45 people with one commitment and one re-commitment to Christ. We had the privilege to pray for dozens of county employees on strike. We received a phone call from the employees less than 48 hours later that the strike was resolved and they were back to work thanking God for the swift answer to all our prayers.

We also prayed with a joyful man released from serving time in jail. Words were spoken to people as tears and healing came. New volunteers experienced praying in public for the first time, and many of them left feeling more blessed and uplifted than when they came. A Christian attorney we met at the court was so encouraged by our work than she immediately went to pray for a friend in the middle of a divorce. We felt the support of the local church as we met pastors and leaders from three area churches and a county employee who was ready to pray with us when we started in the morning. God's presence was atWill County court and the bond of unity between Christians there was strong!

    Testimonies

Many people going into court asked us to pray for them today. A man and woman came by, and the man asked for prayer for his friend. Two women later came by also asked us to pray for the same woman. When the man and woman came out of court, the woman was crying because all went well in court. She told us she had just turned back to the Lord, and she knew he had answered her prayers. Thank you, Jesus.
