Two weeks ago I was approached by a staff member of our church about being part of a prayer team that would be available during Holy Week to help lead people through a labyrinth. Very little information was given to me other than this can be an effective way to help people center themselves in prayer and receive healing from the Lord. For almost 5 years now I have been regularly practicing contemplative prayer. It was through Psalm 46:10, "Be Still and Know that I am God" that the Lord first started speaking to me about the need for me to start practicing this and through it I have received so much emotional and spiritual healing. There is no place I would rather be then in His Presence. He has taught me much about what this verse really means. I have learned that to be still requires learning to relax and still myself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. He has given me practical methods by which to acheive this such as writing down urgent things I need to do that keep coming to my mind. If I feel anxious or upset I have learned to hand those feelings completely over to the Lord by saying a prayer of confession, of forgiveness and relinquishment as needed. Most of the time He has used worship music to allow me to center myself but sometimes He will give me scripture to read and mediate over. Often I will visualize Jesus with me and He will just take over and speak to me allowing me to know Him more and more. It truly is an awesome experience. I'm sure many of you can relate. However, my concern and question has to do with teaching people how to do this using a Labrinyth. Since I have never experienced this I am not sure I could effectively help people take this meditative journey. I am wondering if those of you who are familar with this form of meditation can tell me more about what you know about it and especially what your experience has been?
For His Glory,
Shelley
