  • Tony, don't know how much luck you'll have on this. I've had several different bibles over the years, making margin notes in almost all of them but haven't really found one that had wide margins, at least not wide enough for more than a very brief note. Even an old Scofield that I have only has about 1/2 inch on the outside margins.

I'll be interested to see if anyone does have a suggestion for one that has room for more in depth note taking directly in the bible.

    • Hey Ray, thanks for the reply.

My mentor requested I look for a wife-margin Bible to enhance my studies. What I found was as you replied, not a lot of selection.

I did find both an Oxford and Cambridge wide-margin Bibles. Both quite expensive too. But the translations are even more limited.

I currently use the NIV Study Bible and am happy with it, but like yours, the margin space is limited.

Hopefully we'll have others share their preferences that will help out. Please take care.

  • I use the New Inductive Study Bible.  While the margins aren't huge, it is designed to leave you some space for notes.  It is published by Harvest House.
  • Thanks, Gary. I'll have to look for it the next time I'm buying or giving a bible. How are the other study tools in it? I've gone through a couple of Open bibles over the years and am currently using a NET bible and the Olive Tree iPhone app... Still fall back on paper most mornings for quiet time, notes, etc.
  • It comes in NASB version only.  It is designed to be interactive, that is to mark up, fill in chapter themes, take notes etc.  It is put together by Kay Arthur and the staff at Precept Ministries. It does have cross references and book introductions, but as far as study notes - that's where the interactive part comes in.  It guides you so that you provide your own.  I have used it for about 8 months and I have found my devotional times to be much richer.

    Hope that helps.
