4. Reread/Rethink these bolded statements as if the speaker is a church ministry leader:

"Years of disuse" - - think of Christianity's erosion in the heart and mindset of our culture; the lessening influence and impact of the Church
"Transformation" - - reread Romans 12:2 but apply it to church ministry
"Why did you get involved?" - - is a question every Christian leader needs to reask themself, then discuss with their leadership team
"I remember" - - remember y/our calling; our mission and our passion when we were launched into service
"I hated that" - - reconnect with your Holy-Spirit-infused holy-discontent (what bothers you about ineffective areas our y/our ministry?)
"Revitalize it" - - -how can y/our holy discontent be expressed through re_______ (refocusing, refreshing, reformatting? >>> )?
"Reimagine Michigan Central" - - read this as: "Reimagine the Church" (ie, your ministry, organization, worship, fellowship group, discipleship, leadership)
"The place" - - location matters; get to know neighbors and neighborhoods; their concerns and their cultures
"Where people come together" - - make "building" not only a place but a process-with-a-purpose. . .
"To make" - - and a process to "make disciples of all peoples"

Bill Ford, CEO of Ford Motor Company Interviewed by TIME Magazine

TIME: Michigan Central Station just reopened after more than 30 years of disuse. Ford led its transformation into what's meant to become a multiuse "innovation hub." Why did you get involved in the project?

Ford: I remember the train station aa young boy and, as my life progressed, it just being a wreck - and it was of the visual that accompanied a national story abut the decay of Detroit.

I hated that.

I always thought, if I am ever able to think of a reason to take the station over and revitalize it, I would love to.

One day I was driving by and I said,

"What if we could reimagine Michigan Central

as the place where people come together

to make the Motor City Motor City again,

where the future of mobility is worked on?"

OUR VISION

As an organization, we exist to connect folks to be the church in the neighborhood. We love to connect with other organizations who care about place across various sectors. Here are 5 to check out!

1. STRONG TOWNS | They seek to implement a pattern of neighborhood development that is financially strong and resilient, advocating for cities of all sizes to be safe, livable, and inviting. They work to elevate local government to be the highest level of collaboration for people working together in a place, not merely the lowest level in a hierarchy of governments.

2. THE LEARNING TREE | Through teaching the practices of asset-based community development, they exist to invite people to multiply goodness in the world by revealing gifts and talents of neighbors, cultivating opportunities, and creating a culture of abundance for social transformation.

3. NEIGHBORHOOD ECONOMICS | They convene, recruit, and connect people repairing local economies, gathering local leaders, impact investors, catalytic foundations, minority entrepreneurs, and people of faith who want to build a more just economy.
