  • Wednesday, 9/30: The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-10)

Father, may your name be honored, your kingdom come, and your will be done among students at all levels across our country. May your presence so pervade the lives of Christian students that your kingdom is brought into the lives of those who are far from you.  May your kingdom push back the forces trying to erect barriers between students and you - break down those gates of hell.

Lord God, lead our students not into temptation but give them discernment to know what paths to avoid. Protect them from influences that will take them in harmful directions.  Specifically, protect them from drugs, gangs, sex, and suicide.  Deliver them from all evil, Lord, and keep them from creating evil as well.

Provide for our students' needs, Father - their spiritual, physical, relational, emotional, and intellectual needs. Reconcile relationships with parents where that's needed. Provide Christian community in churches and in campus groups.  Protect our students from discouragement and keep their hearts and minds focused on you.

When our students sin, Lord - and there is none among us who does not sin - quicken their spirits and bring them quickly to repentance.  Forgive them and erase their sins. Give them such a sensitivity to you and such a hatred of sin that they naturally avoid compromising situations.  And give them spirits of forgiveness toward those who sin against them.  May their forgiveness mirror yours, and so open the hearts of non-believing students to receive your grace.

    In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • Tuesday, 9/29: Colleges & Universities (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

Father, please ignite a fresh awakening to your presence among students in colleges and universities across the country.  Strengthen campus Christian movements such as Intervarsity, Navigators, and Campus Crusade to reach non-believing students and to disciple believers.  As you have done in the past, begin a revival in this country on our campuses as you prepare a new generation of leaders for your Church.

    In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • Monday, 9/28 - Secondary Schools (2 Thessalonians 1:11)

Father, please protect Christian students in the midst of the moral relativism of our day. Give them wisdom and discernment from your Spirit when faced with decisions that have moral and ethical implications.  Strengthen them to stand firm against the tide when their friends are participating in harmful activities.  Deepen their faith, their knowledge of your Word, and their desire to walk with you.  Make of them a shining light to those around them who are far from you, and through their example draw non-believing students to yourself.

    In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • Week 5 Focus: People Groups

    Sunday, 9/27 - Primary Schools (Matthew 18:3-5)

Father, thank you for the many children you have brought to yourself.  Please continue to grow the harvest among our children.  Lord Jesus, enter their hearts.  Holy Spirit, give them discernment and clarify their thinking as so much in our country gets confused.  Bring honor to yourself in the lives of our children.

    In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • Sat 9/26 - College Ministries (Colossians 4:3)

Father, thank you for the historic role you have given to college students in world missions.  Please continue to raise up missionaries - both short-term and long-term.  Raise interest in this year's Urbana convention, and use that gathering to inspire, inform, and motivate students to commitment to your place for them in the world.  Raise up workers from among our students for the harvest fields, Lord.

    In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • Friday, 9/25 - Youth ministries (Matthew 9:36-38)

Father, thank you for the youth workers in churches, on campuses, and in all the places where you have raised them up. Please open their eyes to see lost, broken, and wounded teens with your eyes.  Give them wisdom and sensitivity as they reach out to these teens, and open doors for fruitful, effective ministry.  Please raise up additional workers for this harvest field, Lord, and send them out with the gifting of Your Spirit.

    In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • Thursday, 9/24 - Primary School Ministries (Matthew 19:13-14)

Father, thank you for those who are teaching our children to know you and who are watching over them in your name. Encourage them to see the power of childlike faith, and strengthen their own faith as they watch the children. Please stir in the hearts of unbelieving parents who have believing children; open them up to the Gospel as they see you moving in their children's lives.

    In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • Wednesday, 9/23 - Unity in Purpose and Prayer (Acts 1:14)

Father, please unify our students and those who work with them in an increasing dependence on you through prayer.  Thank you for the "see you at the pole" initiative yesterday - thank you for leading people to pray and for hearing the prayers of your people.  Please answer those prayers in ways that will spread your kingdom, drawing more and more students to yourself, and in ways that will strengthen and grow Christian students in you.

    In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • Tuesday, 9/22 - Students Losing Faith in the High School/College Transition

Father, please watch over students transitioning into college.  Protect and grow their faith; keep them strong in the face of false teaching and pressure to abandon the faith.  Give them wisdom, discernment, and a heart for the lost among their fellow students.  Especially for those students who are away from home, please lead them into Christian fellowships where they can be discipled and continue to grow in maturity.  Grant them meaningful church associations while they are away in college.  Grow them into the leaders of your church in the next generation.

    In Jesus' name. Amen.

  • Monday, 9/21 - Deceptive Moral Philosophies (Colossians 2:8)

Father, please protect Christian students from the deception of the evil one in the form of false teachings and philosophies.  Ground students well in your word, and give them the wisdom to discern truth from error. Empower them to champion the faith in the face of competing beliefs; give them the words to draw those who oppose the faith to you.

    In Jesus' name. Amen.
