About 30 years ago I started reading the Bible daily and journaling. Recently, a friend said that she was following a SOAP method for Bible study, ie. Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. As I looked into it I realized that this was pretty much how I had journaled. I just didn't have a snappy acronym for it. I wrote up my experience of the SOAP method in a blog post which I have shared below. But, I am curious what other simple methods and or acronym based strategies people have you used that I might share with my blog readers.

I love simple techniques like these because they are easy to teach and use, thus very actionable. Please share bible study or prayer methods that you have found valuable. Thanks.

  • John,

You are welcome to post this conversation on Pray.Network as well.

A simple Bible study template I've used:

    • Telescope - what is the main idea of the passage?
    • Microscope - what truths are embedded in this passage?
    • Stethoscope - how does the Spirit want me to apply this to my life? family? ministry?
  • I love this idea.  I have never seen it before.  This is the kind of thing I am talking about - simple, memorable, yet wonderfully enriching.  Thank you for replying.  This is definitely going to make it's way into a blog post.
