  • WHAT?  - What is the 1-Question leaders must ask in order to #ReimagineFutureChurch?
What does it mean to follow Jesus?

  • SO WHAT? - What makes this an urgent need for leaders to contemplate/explore/discuss/pray into?

The primary role of the pastor is teacher.

We live in a culture where it is too easy to cater to the prevailing narcissism, making the focus of our preaching the needs of the audience.

We are all wounded, but the church, like a hospital, is to nurture people to health rather than keep us were we are at.  In my opinion, we have lost the sense of following Jesus as a journey into growth and spiritual wholeness.

It is too easy to turn “being born again” into a “get out of hell free” card, with no further claims on our lives, or to understand faith in Jesus as a kind of tribal identity.

A related issue is the development of leadership within the church.

The pastor and the church leaders need to be on the same path. The pastor should prioritize lay leadership.

The church leadership needs to have a common understanding of what it means to follow Jesus.
